Channel 7 Boycott

Of all the media outlets, Channel 7 has been the most egregious lately in half-assed anti-police reporting. Chuck Goudie's piece was merely the peak of a recent wave of crap they've been dishing out. They continued their downhill slide on Thursday with their harebrained insistence that merely "hundreds" of police officers had showed up to picket, while every other media outlet accurately cited "thousands" and the FOP released figures of 3,600.

This was a big deal and Channel 7 managed to just about not report any of it by their evening newscasts and inaccurately reported the "NoGamesChicago" protest while showing the police march, which is just plain sloppy.

The following is a list of sponsors who bought ads during the 01 April 09 newscast that included Chuck Goudie's thinly disguised hit job that was almost certainly put together at the behest of the mayor and his cronies to try to make the police look bad:
Disney doesn't seem to have an easily locatable complaint form, but they own ABC Broadcasting. They also let the indicted former governor vacation down there this past week, so they suck on many levels. It's their station, so you'd be talking to a brick wall anyway.

Most of the links above are directed toward the company's "Contact Us" pages. You might have to do a little searching to find the Complaint page or phone number. Be polite. Explain that ABC 7 has joined in a battle over a contract on the side of a corrupt political organization and you'll be looking to take your increasingly scarce dollars elsewhere.

We realize everyone isn't going to switch to Dominicks. And coppers aren't going to quit going to Dunkin Donuts. But most of the other companies have viable competitors who would welcome your money in these trying times.

Do we know why they are anti police? I heard that Roe Conn on Wls 890 Am (also abc owned) had negative comments. He is generally supportive. Linda Yu actually looked pained that she even had to mention the picket. There coverage was ridiculous in it's brevity and misinformation.

sligtly off topic ABC could run this story how the City could save $37 million or more by the elimination of 25 part time positions in City Government. The City could function very well with 25 alderman instead of 50 and save a great deal of money. Contact you local news outlet, councilman spread the word. And Beale goes first!

Fellow Officers,

Utilize your aggravation in a positive and meaningful way, write editorials and letters of protest to sponsors and networks. They will listen when they receive hundreds of them.

Express support and loyalty to those who aid us and support us.

The CPD is AWAKE and ALIVE, keep it up, the seemingly impossible will become possible.

ABC 7 wants those Olympics real bad, too -- as badly as Mayor Daley does. Think of all the advertising revenue, the endless "190 North"-style boosterism -- free publicity for trendy new restaurants, hotels, etc.

Dominick's? Dominick's = Safeway. Boy, are they expensive, too -- and I got tired a long time ago of their overfed, self-assured, bovine staff ignoring me at the checkouts while discussing their ski-and-drinking weekends.

I left my whole order on the belt and walked out of the Dominick's in River Grove years ago over a question of fifty cents off on one item, and have never been back except to use their washrooms.

That staff of theirs got a good scare too when Dominick's closed about twenty "underperforming" stores -- i.e., in working-class areas. Dominick's customer base consists of people who simply don't care how much they're spending.

Patronize your smaller, local, independent "fruit markets" and so forth instead. No one needs the big chains anymore. Chicago is a wonderful place to buy food; you can get anything you want.

P.S. Why do the people who endlessly complain about a "food desert" all seem to be morbidly obese?

ABC was weak, but WGN was pathetic, they made it seem like our march was linked to the no olympics march, frickin disgusting. I saw the broadcast at 2100hrs, didn't see the earlier ones, but had to be the worst of all of them.

Write to the sponsors and voice your displeasure.

There was a similiar sitiation here in Philadelphia when an officer was killed and a Rap/Hip Hop radio had some pretty cruel things to say.

Police and civilians by the thousands emailed and called the sponsors - most of whom had NO idea what was going on - and were grateful for the updates and changed their tune in a hurry.

Let your voices be heard.

People are seeing through the bullshit and the likes of Goudie and looking else where to get their information, hence the vast numbers of established medias that are facing bankruptcy...

So I guess I would suggest to Goudie, the people are seeing through the BS and seeing it for what it is... "Uncle chuck and his bedtime story, an exclusive eyewitness fairy tales here at 10"

ABC sucks, it was Ok when the CPD had to quietly process the case of the asian anchor who was sexually assaulted, some years ago, by Tyrone. This to prevent embarassment. The coppers were good enough then. OR when the former "red headed" anchor of the 80's got quietly shifted to NY, after having her nose broke and eyes blacken, by the wife of an outfit guy with whom she was sleeping. Ya the coppers were OK then to handle these cases discretely, but King Richie has decreed that his Pravada news organizations must do his spin.

Do you think that will hurt CG one bit. Naw, it would just mess with the street grunt who already catches hell from the company. Write away baby if that gives you satisfaction. In the end it doesn't mean a damn thing. You guys put your lives on the line every day and this mayor and most citizens don't give a damn about you. Take that energy you are going to use to so call screw us and instead go hard and arrest these gangbangers and murderers who would take your lives or your wife/kids in a heartbeat with no remorse. Or do your superiors only trust you enough to only write tickets with that brand new ticket book.

Members would gladly pay and support this club for the service provided instead of DunkingDunots overpriced shitty service and not american owned! Bakers bring out your aprons and take orders for muffins/ breads/ and goodies, believe me they would not go to waste! and the $$$ would go for supplies and GOLDSTAR members and would provide a "stay in touch" with the coworkers that also suffered the loss of your loved ones. Food for Thought! Ms. Marquez, would you be up to the task? Please do think about it! This would provide a supportive and positive channel to prove to channel 7 and its sponsors we are serious!
