Great turnout CPD! Feels awesome doesn't it to get together for a common cause and fight for your rights. As a 30 plus member of the CFD I remember when a time when my Union "Local 2" had more "guts" than they have now. Local 2 should have been there yesterday for you and us. You should be very proud of yourselves for standing up to Shortshanks and his unending B.S. I hope for both of us one day FOP 7 and Local 2 can rally together for better contracts, benefits, health care, etc. Keep the heat on those Executive Board memebrs make sure they give their all for the members! Never be afraid to make them accountable for their decisions or actions. We must all stick together or the bad guys win. Thanks for letting a CFD old-guy sound off on your Awesome SCC blog.

There were too many issues being tossed around at this protest. A lot has gone wrong in the last five years, but a lot of it is out of our hands.

Weis is a bad leader, but there's nothing we can do about him and anyone else the mayor put in that position would be just as bad. Dumping Weis is not in our control and should not even be our concern. The no confidence vote was a bad idea because all it did was muddle the issues.

The press is unfair, but most are liberal relics from the 60's who use their podium to push the same failed social policies they were pusing as teenagers. They will never change and they are not our concern.

The State's Attorney is committing gross misconduct by charging off-duty police officers with felony charges that would never apply to any other citizen in Cook County. Only time will tell if they can keep getting away with it. Either way, there is nothing we can do to stop them.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE NO CONTRACT AFTER TWO YEARS!

The contract is ALL that matters. Everything else the mayor says, everything else Weis promises, everything else the papers print, are all farts in the wind. They mean nothing. They're gone shortly after they're said.

The only thing that matters is the contract. Those are the only guarantees you get on this job.

Stay focused. All we want is contract.

Still can't get over how much fun that was. We need to do it again next month to drive the point home. Now to paraphrase the Bard for those who felt we are somehow not a family:

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he who today marches with me shall be my brother; be never so vile. This day shall gentle his condition. And gentlemen in Chicago now abed shall think themselves accursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that marched with us upon the streets around the Hall of Shortshanks.”

The first picture showing the sign with the slogan "IMAGINE" and Dumb Dick's picture within the international forbidden sign is an excellent sign, actually, the best of the day, but the slash line is going the wrong way. Instead of going from 1:00 and 7:00, if the red circle were the face of a clock, the slash should cross from 11:00 to 5:00. Oh well, I got the point, and I am sure many others did, too.

It will never cease to amaze me that the news stations found it more important to cover the bear's trade then the first responders picket in a major city with upwards of 500 murders! Mr Mayor please get your fat head out of your ass and stop controlling the media. Look what happended toyour friend Blago.

OFF TOPIC:

From the LT's Union website:

The city is trying to push a "VEBA health care plan" on all captains, sergeants and lieutenants:

"VEBA VOTED DOWN

This morning the VEBA ratifications ballots were counted. 240 ballots for ratification were sent out to our member Lieutenants. 179 eligible Lieutenants ballots were returned and counted. The totals are 39 votes to ratify the VEBA Plan and 140 votes not to ratify the VEBA Plan. The Plan is not ratified."

. . . The lieutenants were smart enough to realize that the city was going to make money under the table by establishing this plan.
Daley and his scumbags get a "cut" on EVERYTHING.

I pray for the day he goes to the penitentiary.

Excellent pics. Hard copy evidence of the sheer numbers of coppers who can be motivated on a word-of-mouth short notice. FOP shows up strong and classy. Nothing disrespecful and lots of help and support from Sgts, LTs and I saw at least 1 Captain.

Perhaps open an account in Photobucket or whatever so we can browse them all at once.

What the f#$k happened in 003 Thursday?

Silly Lillie screwed up again!!

Chief of D's came into 003 to visit a morning roll call. The door was closed and he asked the officers and sgts if they had any problems. They told him a few.

Among other things, it seems that Lillie has a list of people that didn't buy a ticket to her xmas party and is methodically working down that list and screwing with everyone on it. This includes dumping people off their cars, refusing awards, blocking details to units, dumping from the tact team, etc. party.

One of Lillie's snitches called her and told her that a sgt talked bad about her. Lillie goes nuts and orders that everyone has to leave an report about what was said and wants a cr on the sgt.

Dugan and Byrne find out and have the watch held past check off. They came in to 003 and personally apologized to the watch and the sgt for the actions of Lillie.

Thanks to the 2 bosses that stood up for the officers!!!

I was at a youth rally and outdoor roll call today at Harper High. Huberman, the Mayor, te usual crowd was there including the media. After the mayor spoke to the teens the media started asking questions. hat was the first question about? You guessed it what about the police contract, and his response was a classic even for him. While all the Englewood officers stood in the roll call he turned to them and said, "Let me first say it's nothing personal to you guys, but it wasn't me that pulled the raise off the table, it was the union." He repeated the same answer with those exact words twice. He gave a pretty good show for the media and I think he believes this crap himself, what an asshat.

INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM SAYS: [feel free to copy and use, or write your own]
This correspondance is being sent to all companies that advertise on WLS Channel 7 T.V; Chicago:

this is to advise you that the officers of the Chicago Police Dept. have noted that you advertise on Channel 7 WLS in Chicago, who has a hatchet-man newscaster, a reporter Chuck Goudie in its employ. As Goudie and WLS TV channel 7 have run derogatory and untrue smear video reports on our Rank-and-File, without investigating properly the issues of our Duty Availability and Uniform Allowance Pay, in an effort to make CPD Officers look greedy and uncaring, it is my obligation to boycott your Company/Business, and all other Sponsors of advertising on the Chicago WLS Channel 7, until a truthful retraction of the Goudie Investigation is told on-air, and also in the printed media. Our Duty-Availability and Uniform Allowance is part of our Contract with the City, and it is reviewed by the Mayor of Chicago, all Chicago Alderman, our Union [FOP], the City Budget Director, Finance Department, Superintendant of Police, our Legal Department; etc; before it is passed and fully approved by the Chicago City Council. Perhaps Goudie will some day be capable of doing some real investigation, like, what our Mayor has done with the budgeted taxpayers dollars for hiring of new police officers that haven't been hired to replace retiring officers, the taxpayers dollars for replacement equipment and on the job in - service refresher training for all of our officers. The Department is down approximately 2,000 or more officers, and last year we had over 500 Murders in the City. Perhaps an Investigative Reporter can ask our Mayor why he can spend Taxpayers Dollars like a drunken Sailor, only to cry broke and poor when the Police are up for a new Contract, as he has done on every occasion, since he has held office. No other City Employees have ever been made to wait this long consistently, for their contracts with the City to be approved, nor have they been been discriminated against regarding fair employment practices, by the Mayor, and the elected officials of the City of Chicago.

EVERYONE loathes Daley and sees this guy is leading the city to financial ruin, except for the rich suburban business leaders he caters to, and the big businesses that get the TIFs and tax abatements.

But no one can think of how to dislodge him, least of all by offering a plausible candidate as an alternative.

Tell me- is there ANYONE we can run against him? None of our aldermorons is suitable- these paperweights are his good little rubber stamps.

Silly Lilly/ Burger Queen just dumped 2 tact sgts (one was supposedly because of activity but he was in control of the most productive/experienced tact teams in 003).

People are bailing out of 003 left and right be it units or other districts. She better watch herself or she won't have any cars up. 3 homicides in 2 days Lillie, best be watchin' yo'self.

Good question North Coast. The one person who could have taken Daley out was indicted and sent to prison on trumped up charges by Daley's friends at the DOJ, Miriam Santos, the former city treasurer.

There are no 100% independent Alderman anymore. The new guy, Brendan Riley challenges Daley occassionally but he has all of them eating out of his nasty paws.

Jesse Jackson Jr. is caught up with the Blago Dollars for Senate Seat Scandal and is an admitted Federal informant. JJ Jr. is finished in Chicago.

Dorothy Brown has no money and no charisma.

Chicago desperately needs another Jane Byrne or Harold Washington. I will take a Eugene Sawyer, anybody but Daley!
