Rio Takes the Lead
International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge seemingly closed the door on any possibility that President Obama would lead a Chicago delegation to Copenhagen next month in a final pitch for the 2016 Summer Games.
The White House announced in recent days that first lady Michelle Obama would be leading the Chicago team when they make their final pitch Oct. 2 before the IOC, which will then select a host city.
Spain’s King and Brazil’s president are expected to go to Copenhagen, and Tokyo is urging its new prime minister to join the bid.
Observers believe Tony Blair helped London win the 2012 Games and Vladimir Putin, speaking English for the first time in public, swayed the IOC when it tapped Sochi for the 2014 Games.

NBC5's Rob Stafford reported the other night that The Prez NOT GOING to Copenhagen was NOT A DONE DEAL.
He pointed out that by sending the 1st Lady, the Secret Service will be required to do all of the same advance security preparations that would be required for The President. This would seem to leave the door ajar for last second theatrics from the leader of the free world to WOW the IOC crowd!

The IOC is recognized by their past actions as being a very corrupt organization. That being said, the Olympic TRADITION is recognized in their oath as "the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams".
We, here, are aware of how deep the corruption runs in the Daley/Burke Crime Family and abhor its very existence. But how amazing would it be if Chicago lost the 2016 Olympics because the IOC thought the Stuttering Prick was TOO corrupt, even for their corrupt little asses!

I think if I made 114000/yr + the supervisor 'lunch money' (which is about 10K a year) + .75/hour comp. time a day, + opportunity for OT at $55/hour AND owed my 2nd bar to the politicos, I just might accept their offer too.
However at 72K a year w/ 2 kids in private school at 7K+ a year and all taxes going up, I don't think I would...

Like the Mafia, in the Daley Crime Family, the power and riches of city offices are kept within the family, elections are manipulated and nothing happens without his approval. Like in the Mafia, all opposition is eliminated, not by murder, but by firing, set up with phony charges or banished to other cities.
The well connected in this city do very well indeed. Political campaign contributors, especially those who can help fund Daley’s Olympic dreams do very well indeed and it does not matter if the ordinary citizen get hurt. A prime example is the sale of Chicago’s parking meters to a private company which gave the city over a billion dollars. They raised the rates so high that few people want to shop or dine in the city anymore. And did that billion plus dollars help fund the under strength Police and Fire Departments? The city streets are in decay but the areas that the International Olympic Committee saw were new, clean and beautifully landscaped.
The City of Chicago has the highest sales tax and some of the highest utility rates in the country, but a scandalously poor school system that spends more time covering it up than real education. The money is being horded by the Daley Crime Family to spend on the contractors for the Olympics, not on the people.
This is the organization that helped put Barrack Obama into office. If you study American news, if you can sift past the liberal bias, you will see that American’s are starting to see that he is a god with feet of clay. They see that he is not interested in producing wealth for citizens, only in taking that which was earned by some and giving it to those who did not earn it.
When the quest for the Olympic started, Daley said that the citizens here will not be responsible for cost overruns if they do not make money. Just last week, the fifty Aldermen, the Capos of the Daley Crime Family voted to do just that and gave themselves a standing ovation for it. Their contractor/campaign contributor friends will make billions and the citizens will be stuck with the bills. Most ordinary citizens will not even be able to afford to attend the games. One ticket for an event can cost a weeks pay, for the opening ceremony, a months pay for the average worker.
The majority of the citizens of the City of Chicago do NOT want and we cannot afford the 2016 Olympics.

Every person in my family, all my neighbors and every coworker in the department all said "No" to the Olympics coming to Chicago. Who wants the Olympics besides asshat Daley? Nobody...
Instead of hording $4.8 billion dollars for some games, that's right games. How about spending that money on public safety, transportation and roads. As usual, Daley's priorities are half ass backwards.
The Olympics would leave this city in ruins after it was all said and done. Obama no longer needs Daley, and quite frankly, the Stuttering Prick is now more of a liability for him.
Anybody should be able to look at the horror stories going on in the upcoming Olympic venue cities (Vancouver, London etc) and recognize that any Olympic bid will only amount to a financial boondoggle for their citizens for years or decades to come. Beijing cost $40 billion! London has already spent $20 billion for 2012 and they're still 3 years away. How in the fu*king world our Chicago Circus Council thinks $4.8 billion is a feasible cost projection is beyond reason!
If Obama strongly goes after the Olympics and gets them and it proves to be a financial disaster for Chicago (which it will), the tarnished image will not just belong to Daley.

You might be wrong. Daley didn't back Obama initially. He was on Hilary's side until Obama started to win. Obama aint forgetting that. I don't blame him. I hope he doesn't go. That would serve Daley right.
Obama doesn't really care whether or not Chicago gets the Olympics. If they get it, fine. He'll be able to claim support from the get go.
If they don't he doesn't have a futile trip to Denmark sitting there like a proverbial political turd.
Rio already has it in the bag, he knows it, and his decision not to make the trip is a message to Daley and the machine that they don't pull his strings anymore.

One of the reasons that the IOC can make the claim that no Olympic Games has ever LOST money, is because they do not figure in the infra-structure costs that the host city incurs prior to the Olympic event.
For example, when the IOC released their recent evaluations of the 4 competing host cities, Chicago's public transportation was criticized. To bring it up to par for the Olympics will cost HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars! But these costs are not counted as Olympic Games costs and are therefore not listed.
It's the adding of all the infra-structure costs that adds the 10's of billions of dollars to the host city budget costs.
Does anyone really think that the IOC will wait until they see what heads of state show up before they make their decision. Their minds are made up by now. To think otherwise is just silly. Silly silly silly.

I watched that yesterday go right past my house. I don't need the Olympics to see it. This Kenyan even had his pit bull with him and there were four or five other Kenyans with guns trying for second place. They must be afarid of being in the city.
I threw all the runners some water from my porch. Shortly thereafter, I heard a few loud reports signaling the end of the race. The second place Kenyans even ran away in disgrace.
Never did see the winner again. He must of had to stick around to get his picture taken. Then I heard sirens. They must have been giving the winner a parade or somnething. Nope, I do not need the Olympics to see foot race in my city.

That ticks me off. Because the Lt and Sgt unions will probably copy capt and accept the offer of nothing also, counting on the metoo clause of getting whatever raise the fop gets. Guess what? What if the arbitrator decides to give the fop no raise either? What if the arbitrator says, well the leaders of the dept who are capts, lts, and sgts felt it was a fair offer to accept no raise, then its only fair the patrolmen get no raise?
Should have voted no and not accept the citys offer of nothing. Ridiculous.

I do not think the Sgt's will vote for it. The Sgt's board voted 12-1 AGAINST this contract, and from what I'm hearing, it has no chance of passing. I hope I'm right, cuz I will vote NO!
Also, I'd love to know who the jag is that voted yes on this contract!

That is not what it is or what it says, nor do any of the supervisors feel it is fair to accept no wage increase, it will rest on the arbitration between city and FOP, as the raises for supervisors have rested in every contract.
