SOS Publicity
- Four former Chicago police officers implicated in the Special Operations Section scandal have made deals to plead guilty in exchange for cooperating with the investigation, a sign that the state and federal probes of one of the city's biggest police corruption scandals ever is coming to a head, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation.
Since these four don't seem to have anything to do with the original seven indictments, this would bring the total number of indictments to eleven? "Broken Star" had fewer we believe. The Flagg case had three or four total.
Ugly days ahead.

I believe this was claimed to be uttered by one of the accused/charged while within earshot of a regular poster in another thread, and immediately discarded as rubbish and bullshit by those that can't, or refuse to, see the bigger picture.
Things and incidents like this do happen from time to time. If you: A) had more than 3 years on the job, B) were able to think for yourself, C) didn't believe 100% what your "bosses" spoon-feed you and D) listened to the old timers once in a while, it'd probably be crystal clear right about now that these dudes have been singing like fucking canaries...and continue to do so.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that what the "Inside Do Nothing" guy at Central Detention said is true. I've seen it on more occasions than I care to remember in three decades.
Good luck to all that may even have had minimal exposure to any of the accused; your lives are about to get really interesting.
Wait until the bosses are charged that will be very interesting to say tha least.
but wait.. only two remained locked up.. everyone except hererra and finnegan are still going, the rest are back at work. so maybe these guys are kicking themselves in the ass now because they decided to take a plea deal back in 06. everyone else rolled the dice, let the lawyers and "victims" screw up the case and they might be back at work too. not trying to say these guys are saints and dont deserve whats coming to them but think about it. if everyone would have shut up, including hererra there may be no case at all anymore. one of the victims died of a heart attack last year and the other guy cant pick out a single person that was present.. they only thing holding them all is that they talked and hererra wore a wire. let it be a lesson boys and girls. you are your own worst enemy when you try to save your own skin. your big boys and girls. we all know right from wrong. if you screw up, deal with it.
Innocent until proven guilty?
And we are not under a consent decree??? C'mon, thats why Weis was brought in. This is bigger than the Rampart scandal in the LAPD, which lead to LAPD under a consent decree.
Whatever happened to the imfamous "CR list" that was supposed to cave the CPD??

OH WELL!
LESS GUYS ON THE PENSION...
EVERYONE SHOULD BE USED TO THIS KINDA NONSENSE ROLL W/ THE PUNCHES
DO UR JOB AND NOTHING EXTRA.
HOW MANY CASES DO U KNOW THE FEDS WOULDNT TOUCH B-CUZ IT WASNT WORTH THEIR TIME.
BUT YEARS OF WORK WENT INTO THIS LITTLE CAPER SURVEILANCE , WIRE TAPS, ENDLESS INTERVIEWS.
THE NEXT TIME U TOUCH SOMETHING FEDERAL ASK UR SELF WHY ISNT THIS WORTH ANY INVESTIGATION.
HELL DOES A FED AGENT EVEN COME OUT TO LOOK AT THE CASE THEY ARE ONLY ON ROOSEVELT ROAD AND DAMEN!?!
Stop with the big conspirasy nonsense. A few criminals get on the job and clip some dope dealers. Their supervisors aren't doing their job and don't catch them.
The supervisors involved are lazy, not guilty of complicity. The P.O.s are a few greedy and dishonorable embarrassments to their families. No big scandle, just a few bad apples to be dealt with.
The worst you can say about most of the Police Department is that they aren't jumping to do their jobs. Given the treatment in the Media, some of it is understandable.
if everyone would have shut up, including hererra there may be no case at all anymore. one of the victims died of a heart attack last year and the other guy cant pick out a single person that was present.. they only thing holding them all is that they talked and hererra wore a wire. let it be a lesson boys and girls. you are your own worst enemy when you try to save your own skin. your big boys and girls. we all know right from wrong. if you screw up, deal with it.

So the message is to shut up? How about not doing the crime? Is it possible to remain clean and still do your job? Maybe effective leadership and supervision would have prevented this entire scandal. Exempts will avoid punishment and blue shirts take the heat. Maybe the message is loud and clear: stay out of trouble.
The iceberg principle applies to CPD, and Chicago as a whole for that matter. Only 10% of what's going on appears above the surface.......
"D) listened to the old timers once in a while"
What? First of all- you are in idiot if you go past 29 and a day on this job.
Second, time on the job has nothing to do with you being an idiot- once an idiot always an idiot- you idiot.
Third, your feeling of self-importance really gets the best of you when you monday morning quarterback.
Last, things are different from when you saw the streets 15 years ago. If you have not noticed, the rules have changed.
Stop being a bitter old fart and retire! If you knew so much then why in hell are you giving one extra minute of your life to the city and this shit department? Time on the job has not made you any smarter then you were 30 plus years ago!
to all the pros out there "working" for some boss who holds a slip for you once in awhile or gives you a duck every night---- watch when the indictments come down--- the bosses will still be bosses moving up and the guys who were pulling the sled will be going to jail.....

Please, please, let it be so!
The dream trifecta of POS Kirby, JJ Jr, and Chicago 2016 all going down in the same week or fortnight would be a dream come true!!!!!
Supervisors never get prosecuted on this job.
will they climb the food chain and get the exempts? Follow the trail feds and climb higher!

I love it! From teh articel
"
FBI entered the case in 2007 to investigate whether there was a cover-up by Chicago Police Department supervisors. Federal indictments in the case may include charges against several ranking officers, sources said.

Sooooooo, an investigation into white shirts leads to more arrests of Blue Shirts ????

IF YOU DID NOTHING WRONG, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR...
If Kirby was to be arrested, fired or even just moved. I would be so happy!!!! I would dance the jig all the home from 35th st....
The funny thing is that the all the commanders that served during this time continue to get promoted. DD MT and lets not forget DK at IAD. Meanwhile others that just did their job when they were there and had no involvement in anything are continually fucked with. What a joke. At least the majority wised up and dont do a fucking thing at work anymore.
Someone said Bye, Bye Kirby. Wait till a lawsuit is coming down when Kirby was ADS of IAD.
Anyone what happens to a copper when they get indicted for bank fraud, real estate fraud and income tax fraud?
i think this will move up the chain but no bosses will go down. I think the highest it will go is a lt and a sgt or two.
Be careful what you wish for. I know at least one copper that made many phone calls and called in a lot of favors to get his kid in SOS. Now his kid's going to the joint. Let them work for their own shit like we had to. Sometimes when it comes too easy..... Prayers for the father and his kid.
The CAPTAINS Union voted "YES" on the contract . . .
What a bunch of one-way bitches...
If they waited the 6 months or so in arbitration they would have fared much better.
Off topic but some good news. Talked to some of the FOP board members at the vigil last night. Although we are going to arbitration with the city they are still meeting. They had a session last week and another one set for 22 Sept. The arbitrator has invited himself to the meeting on the 22nd. Still working on things to expedite the process. Shortshanks knows we are getting raises but wants to blame arbitrator.
Dic from Area 3 was there and wanted to know why the FOP site only lists 66 people signed up for the 55 and out heath care when his tracking number is well over a hundred in the mid teens. Apparently the city number which is posted on the current updates as a banner is the number the city MLAS is giving FOP. Many people have put in but their CO’s have not yet approved it yet. You need for your CO to approve it. Looks like about 120 have really put in so far.
Taking the city to arbitration on FLAS because it is a breach of the contract. And they have also filed a complaint with the State Labor Board. It is OUR option if we want money or time not the city’s.
Remember never ever trust a FED!
I work in a fast district on 1st watch. I am a two and a half year wonder so I don't know anything (sarcasm).
It is amazing that a lot of young officers with less than five years on the job do stupid stuff. Stupid stuff like just grab people off the streets and do Terry Stops WITH NO REASON. Just "this is a high narcotic crime area". Just go through cars. Just "lock up shit heads".
Times have changed. Thus we as the police have to evolve. I don't advocate "doing nothing". But the days of grabbing people and locking them up, just grabbing "Joe's" off the streets and doing pat downs are over. Anyone caught doing one thing and saying another on an arrest report is really asking for it. But then what do I know, I am just a two and a half year wonder.
Just read the latest, WOW. I live a mediocre life and I'll NEVER have to feel guilty! Thank you assholes for making me look like a piece of shit, you coward, clout heavy waste of spaces! you disgraced all I worked for and all I've ever wanted to be! Fuck you!
Oh great
Off topic, word has it that Brust, Cuello and Ruthie were all at the airport to greet Sir Elton. Is this true? Also does Ruthie have a security company as of now? These exempts are all full of shit! FUCK THEM!
It will never stop.
It only took 15 years...but FINALLY, PAYBACK is coming for a certain PPO who was RAILROADED...The PPO has remained hopeful through the years that they would see vindication. They have been a good friend to myself and MANY of our classmates who TRIED to help, only to have the BASTARDS at IAD refuse to talk to US when they were being made an example of by the GOOF in charge of the Academy at the time.

Amen to that brother. So many guys who just did the job and got shit on.... Still amazed that anyone who ever worked in SOS would go to the MSF. Also amazed that some of the bosses there could ever look in the mirror, knowing they let that shit go on, and didn't do a thing to stop it. Yes, they got promoted - what a system.

HERE'S ANOTHER REASON TO DO NOTHING!
Quinn To Release 1,000 Inmates From Prison In Cost-Cutting Move
by Monique Garcia
Gov. Pat Quinn is planning to release 1,000 inmates from prisons across Illinois the next several months in an effort to save money.
Officials with the corrections agency and the Quinn administration declined to provide specifics after announcing the plan late this afternoon.

They will get whatever raise we get. They also agreed to discipline changes FOP is fighting.
I also hear Lt's are against the alternate work schedules we are hoping to get, what the hell... This is what you get with so many different unions representing police. We should all be under FOP banner with different bargaining units within for our specific differences.
Divide and conquer doesn't seem to be something our supervisors are aware of yet.

They don't need to go to Arbitration stupid, they have a me too clause that grants them everything obtained in artbitration
Where were the Sgts, Lts and most of all the Commander? Nobody noticed the court deviations and the CRs? Anywhere but SOS a fraction of the number of CRs and Court Deviations that this crew generated would have resulted in suspensions. Unless we see some cops in white shirts, and that includes retired bosses going down on this; the whole case is a sham.

Don't prosecute supervisors, huh?
Like J.Herman, P Powers, JMcGovern, and the ex ADS now lt convicted of telephone harassment ?
The ex ADS now lt would be R. Guerrero.
Kirby put him in a "shame him"streaming video before they re -instated him.
Maybe now someone would put her in an anti-corruption streaming video-it seems like every time someone hits the video, they step into sh-t.
Cases in point; Williams ( demoted and forced out)
Kirby ( you know)
Tobias ( ditto)
Maurer ( fired from Aviation)
To 09/18/09 5:33 pm
Is this PPO you speak of from 010? I hope he is. A good guy that got screwed yet his partner on the night in question is a total douche who, along with family, run a large security company. He got off through his clout and left this PPO hung out to dry.

Since when has Cook Co. been able to frighten someone enought to cause them to plead out?
This is kind of weird.

THe news was pretty vague as to what these guys were charged with. And how do you get 4 guys to plead out, lose their jobs, and do time so easily.
Seems like something out of left field to me. What is going on here?
IT WAS A SCENARIO IN THE PROCESSING ROOM, LOCK-UP. FOR THE NEXT STREAMING VIDEO.

You can look that up at IDPR website under the license search area. Be sure to check if she has :

b.Detective license
c. PERC card.(mandatory)
and any other related title under security. If not and she is operating a company there is a complaint form or you may call
WAYNE M STRAZA
Deputy Director of Enforcement
1.312.814.5301
To the author with 2.5 yrs on in a busy district, you don't know shit. You have been limited to one type of experience in this department on one watch. Remember what they said in the academy, this dept. is 75 police depts. 3watches times 25 districts. I have ten years on and despite the fact that I try to learn as much as I can, I probably don't know shit either. I do know the difference between reasonable suspicion and probable cause and how to articulate it on paper. Most stops and searches are legal in the eyes of the contstitution, but you have to be able to articulate it on paper. If you see a car you want to stop, due to your suspicions, 95% of the time probable cause to stop the vehicle will present itself within a quarter mile. If I see a dude with the 1000 yard prison yard stare in an area that he should not be, I can articulate on an arrest report or contact card why I stopped him. I've been sued five times, none of which kept me sleepless, but I've learned through experience how to tighten up my paper work so a few years later when I am being deposed I don't have to say "I don't recall" much. I know how to talk to the detectives, judges, attorneys, arrestees, bosses and fellow coppers. In other words, I've learned some and have more to learn. You have learned little and know it all.
You'll never see Kirby get arrested (in the United States, anyhow), cuz she is the most travelled boss the department has ever seen. Amazing how many police conferences take place in foreign countries!
I never heard of them either and I got over twenty. I guess it's true, birds of a feather flock together. Thank god.
WTF are you talking about? Not everyone has the same random thought generator chip that your bird brain possess.

For those who were there...they'll know just by this comment being placed here in THIS particular thread. If you don't know, YOU don't matter.
There were 2 classmates of ours who were in SOS who were there for being Royal Kiss Asses...to the point every time they spoke, one could smell ass. Now one has just plead GUILTY, and is about to turn Government Witness against his former partner. The wondrously bald one who pled guilty on Friday had the chance to do the right thing when he went before IAD when we were in the academy and call out the lies against our classmate who was getting a full 9" inserted DRY.
Instead, this JAGOFF tried to curry favor with one of the accusers and score a piece of ass. (Which would have been no major accomplishment - EVEN for HIM)
It took a while, but karma came back to show he was a POS scumbag liar, as our friend had argued, ALL along.
I don't mention their name here, because I don't think he'd appreciate the shout-out. But I am sure, somewhere, he is having a nice time enjoying this jagoff spending, even if it is only, 6 months sleeping with one eye open to prevent a REAL 11" being force fed to him in the middle of the night.
Why didn't you ask the Deputy Director of Enforcement for licensing for permission to use his name on this blog before you used it in your personal ongoing vendetta? Now he thinks we are all the asshole that you are. It's a small world.
9/18 9:57pm
Who needs divide and conquer with know nothing, no time on the job idiots like you around. For your information stupid, supervisors were dues paying members of FOP Lodge 7 until dumb ass patrolmen like yourself voted the white shirts out so they then formed their own bargaining units (PBPA) because every dumb ass like you should know there are no CPD members represented by any true unions. That is the reason FOP pays for Burge's legal fees because long before you dribbled down your momma's leg real police like Burge were all members of the FOP Lodge 7. It is truly amazing the stupid know nothing new guys we got on this job, no wonder the CPD has gone to shit.

Thanks for the info. Im glad somebody realized we weren't all in your academy class or in SOS.
Now he thinks we are all the asshole that you are. It's a small world.....
no vendetta here. Public employee, matter of public record. Why you worried about it? You work for her "firm" part time? And YES it is a small world. Use your head. If she isnt licensed and you work for her you as well as her stand to loose. Now who would be the asshole then asshole?
WOW! A Kansas City (why) newspaper is reporting that Pratschers sgt. called him for a meet AFTER he left SOS (behind he was afraid of Finnigan) told him how disappointed he was that he had been stealing money and then asked for $3000 for a trip to Vegas. Finnigan also "violated" members of his ratpack.
"Where were the Sgts, Lts and most of all the Commander? Nobody noticed the court deviations and the CRs? Anywhere but SOS a fraction of the number of CRs and Court Deviations that this crew generated would have resulted in suspensions. Unless we see some cops in white shirts, and that includes retired bosses going down on this; the whole case is a sham."
Has anyone noticed that ALL of the former Cmdrs of SOS during this terrible period of blatant scandal
have all been PROMOTED?
DUGAN
TOBIAS (currently in hiding)
GULLIFORD
well one of the 4 (DM)was in PHS about 6 yrs back and he was an asshole then......karma is a biatch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't understand why everyone always mentions Deputy Gullifords name. Yes he took over as CO of SOS, but that was after the fact. As most of you might remember he was in charge of the Summer Mobile detail during the time frame most of these allegations occurred.

Is this PPO you speak of from 010? I hope he is. A good guy that got screwed yet his partner on the night in question is a total douche who, along with family, run a large security company. He got off through his clout and left this PPO hung out to dry.

+++++
No, he was SUPPOSED to go to 010, but he got a call the NIGHT before graduation and told to go POW to the Academy. He's got family that was on the job...but no clout...obviously.
