Hoffman Estates Cuts Cops

Watch for Shortshanks to look at this as an option:
  • Hoffman Estates trustees Monday approved a $126 million budget for 2010 that cuts four police officer positions.

But the Village Board could amend the budget Dec. 14 if Village President William McLeod gets concessions, much as the firefighters' representatives agreed to Saturday, from the police officers' union to make up the $350,000 in the four officers' salaries.

The $350,000 is only 0.27% of the entire $126 million budget, so this is a political move, and a fairly obvious one. The entire shortfall could be made up if every resident coughed up $7. Even the head of their union calls it a "dog-and-pony show."

We can totally see Daley hiring 86 recruits, then dangling a threatened layoff in front of the rank-and-file to force some bizarre concession out of the FOP. Or are we being too paranoid?

Fuck Daley.

Not only is cpd suffering from this shit, the citizens of Chicago suffer too.

I wonder if they realize we are spread so thin and they get virtually no proactive policework.

Masters.

Shortshanks is the one that is being gotten rid of..

Crime is too high in Chicago to cut/downsize the CPD and they have the most dangerous jobs so no pay cuts while they get raises and groom their kids to take their jobs because they know there are no jobs and corruption everywhere.

It is time to look for new people and take a close look at the po's running for office.

Why the silence on Doc Walls getting kicked off the ballot because he did not have enough legal signatures -4000 signatures were fake or could not be verified-I commented on the subject of fake signatures when the media thought they had uncovered a "scandal" involving signatures which is really west siders who are tired of corrupt politicians doing for us but then asking us to help them with our signatures.

The corruption is sex offenders, thieves, sexists and just dummies running our govern$ent..

The residents shouldn't have to cough up $7, the city government should cut something else. I guarantee there's all sorts of frivoulous bullshit $ in their budget, they are just not as greedy nor as skilled at stealing as Shortie.

I suspect a metric shitload of money is spent on said rediculous bullshit simply to justify "matching funds"; more "free money" (all extorted from the taxpayer) to waste on pointless shit in order to skim. OK, so the city has to find $50 million for nonsensical bullshit for Pookie, they get another $50 mil from the Feds which they can skim too. If you're the dirty politician, there's no downside, it only sucks if you're the taxpayer.

And the cynical bullshit of politicians cutting police and fire 1st and claiming poor isn't being bought by the taxpayers anymore.

A lot of (all of them) politicians need to get shown the door, and the ones elected to replace them need to do some serious prosecution or else we may very well see serious unpleasantness.

I can't honestly say that would be the worst outcome.

Unfortunately, the 86 recruits being hired on 16 Dec are being hired under two seperate program. One the federal job stimulus program (50 recruits).
Two a federal grant program (36 recruits).

Daley can dangle all he wants, but laying off those people means he would have to pay the federal $$ back to the feds.

Come to Chicago, and join Mayor Daleys Civilian Detective Squad, meet interesting south and westside residents, and talk to them about serious crimes. They love to give information to you if you just tell them you work for Daley, that is the key to open all doors.

How about this, we ALL send Daley a Christmas Card to City Hall, and write on it that we as CPD, and our families are sick and tired of being screwed over by him, and are now actively working together, to ban together and support a publicly Pro-Police Candidate for Mayor. Sign the cards with names like Cris Cringle, and Family, 007th District, Frosty the Snowman and Family, 011 Dist. etc. Merry Fuckin Christmas, Shortshanks........

In order for Shortshit to lay off ANY police, he would first have to accept the fact that he would be the FIRST mayor in modern times to actually lay off police.

With this city falling apart with crime, Daley hasn't got the balls to cut more police when he's already done it by refusing to keep us at strength.

Daley doesn' want his real legacy to be the only recent mayor to lay off police.

NEW NUMBER is 114!!!

Only need 16 more!!!

I think the City will be shitting bricks when the 130 number is reached and they realize that they will actually have to pay the insurance money they promised.

Plus after the number is reached, I think that many more will make the decision (before the 1st of the year) to leave and jump on that insurance plan.

Hey guys, I got a little more info to add to this article. They failed to mention that Hoffman Estates employs a few Federal Agents (homeland security) to receive federal funds (higher than usual) with this money and other funds, they are close to completion on a $10 million dollar new facility.
On top of this Sunday Dec 6th, 1 of these federal agents took a newly sezied car for a joy ride and totaled it. The cars estimated value?? $400,000!!!
That would cover the salary for the 4 officers and this story wasnt reported on anywhere.

Yes, and no. I'd call it a massive reorganization. I don't work for the city nor am I a cop, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the organization is becoming more like an inverted pyramid. You have the cops on the street that we see every day, the guys doing the heavy lifting. Then their supervisors, their supervisors, and their supervisors. Somewhere between them and Weis are layers upon layers of management - most of which I'm willing to guess are patronage jobs, filled by the ignorant and unqualified (largely, anyway - there have to be SOME qualified people there keeping the place from falling down). This is the same in every city department, and this is the core of the problem. Lots of people "managing," not enough doers, and the cost of these fool hacks is astounding..esp if they are collecting pensions, etc.

The real easy way to clean all of this mess up is to eliminate the extraneous positions and eliminate those who are unqualified and cannot prove their use to the organization. You know, like a private company would normally do business (or it would fail).

When I saw this post I figured there would be some asshole who woud make some stupid comment...well you would be that asshole! Those "cherry pickers" are P.O.'s like anyone else with a family, and where they work should not matter.
Maybe if you lost your job someone could say...Well there is one less dirty, corrupt, alcoholic CPD copper who will no longer rob dope dealers, steal money, beat women, drive drunk, lie, cheat and kill while hiding behind the star..i'm sure the mean streets of Chicago will be safer now.
So save it hero..you are no better than anyone else..despite what you tell the pigs in the bar and aggravate those around you with your fabulous war stories.
No wonder people hate us

Why is a bad economic period a reason for the mayors/ village- city managers "daley disciples" to run basic/ vital local government services into ruins while finding funds for "beautification projects", TIF property purchases, summer fest. fall fest, spring fest, winter fest....
As this trend progress' and people ask "Is ---- fest" going on this year? Tell the hillbilly "sure, but you probably wont want to go, your home may be burglaized and or set on fire while your getting your drunk on and there wont be any police or fd to get to it, and dont forget to vote -enter village idiots name here- for mayor".

Cops and CFD should stick together. So should ALL city workers. You sound like a jerk saying Streets and San isn't doing their job. If you're doing your job, you shouldn't have time to be looking at anyone else. "The city that works...together." The old man Daley said that and he did put everyone to work. This rule of thumb has always worked for me, if it ain't about me, I don't want to hear it.

Someone needs to get their facts straight. 1. the date of the incident is incorrect, it occurred on friday, 12/4/09. 2. it was not a federal agent who was involved in the incident. 3. while the car was valued at $400K, the damages were estimated at $15-20K. 4. Hoffman Estates will not be responsible for the loss.
