New York Shooting

  • A deadly shootout in Times Square on Thursday sent tourists scrambling and police rushing to the scene. It all began when an undercover officer recognized an illegal street peddler.

It appears from what the NYPD said after the incident the gunman came to Times Square with the expectation that he'd be confronted by police, given the weaponry he had and the note in his pocket.

  • ...police found a business card from the Virginia gun shop where they believe the [stolen] gun came from.

"Handwritten on the back of that business card words to the effect of I pity the cop who is going to put me or has the nerve to put me in his paddy wagon," NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
Sounds like a set-up that went completely wrong for the criminal. Boo-hoo. Great job by the NYPD.

Bill Cozzi does respond to received mail.

I almost wish he didn't because he is so sad right now.

It's horrible down there. He has no friends. They are all hillbillies (my word) who hate the police and hate Catholics. God only knows what they think of blacks.

You guys, we gotta do something. Can we at least march?
even father Nangle is telling us to do something--if u read between the lines.

Those damn "assault" weapons. Did he fill out the necessary paperwork at the time of sale, ATF form 4473, get a background check, and fill out the paperwork, get fingerprinted and get the additional background check for a class III weapon? Did he make himself available for any ATF inspections that go with the class III ownership? No?

So you're telling me that all this liberal gun control shit really DOESN'T work then? Maybe we should pass a law that makes it illegal for criminals to disobey laws..THAT'LL fix 'em!

Anybody notice that there's no white people in the parade of happy faced citizens/voters/alien-potential voters shown interacting with the police on the department's homepage?

My keen eyed neighbor noticed it and asked me if I noticed. She said that her and others were getting sick of paying for everything but getting subtly slighted in return on a constant basis by the city. I confessed that I've never been to the department's homepage.

The taxpayers are waking up.

Petition: Free the Navy SEALs

By Michelle Malkin • December 11, 2009 10:06 AM

Human Events has posted a petition to free the Navy SEALs who’ve been hauled up for court martials after an infamous jihadi in Iraq (the same one who masterminded the ambush of Blackwater contractors whose bodies were burned and hung on a bridge in Fallujah) accused them of punching him in the stomach during a raid earlier this fall.

All Spars and logs are sent to the Deputy to look at and if he approves, they are sent back to the Sgt. to push through. If he disapproves...sent back to Sgt. and told what to give the person. So as far as going through the chain of command and each of them making an informed decision, they make their own informed decision and order the Sgt. to hammer the person, AND THEN IT GOES BACK UP THE CHAIN!!! Sergeants have to be great story tellers to get anything through. From one who knows!

12/10/2009 01:55:00 PM

That sounds like an incredible waste of time. Why can't the sgt's who are assigned the job do what they are supposed to do? Why does it have to go up and down the chain of command so many times? Obviously the exempts on this department have no idea how to delegate responsiblity and concern themselves with trivial matters like bullshit SPARs and CRs rather than trying to figure out why morale is in the shitter throughout the ranks of the CPD. Micromanaging exempts do nothing to rise morale.

What an outstanding show of support from our neighbors from Canada! Simply astounding! Deeply moving to see that long line of red uniforms marching straight and proud in honor of the officers in Washington.

And what did Chicago send? A couple of officers? Two? Four? One car?

Chicago should also have had a huge contingent as one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the US.

Not simply the entire honor guard but the equivalent of at least a district of CPD officers in dress blues should have been sent.

Thanks you Canada. Your presence was noticed by law enforcement here in Chicago. Thank you RCMP.

They're all terrified Dugan will second-guess them and ream them for any errors, so they have the 'dry-run' sent straight to them, and only if they approve it, can it then be formally written up and sent through channels.

It's stupid, a waste of time and it's double-work in a time when we don't have time or manpower to spare.

Check out the NY Post article about this Martinez dude:

..." A Times Square bloodbath was narrowly avoided because the machine-pistol-toting thug who fired at a cop flipped the gun on its side like a character out of a rap video, causing the weapon to jam after two shots, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

When scam artist Raymond "Ready" Martinez held the MAC-10-style gun parallel to the ground, it caused the ejecting shells to "stovepipe," or get caught vertically in the chamber, the sources said. The gun is designed to be fired only in a vertical position.

If he had fired the weapon -- which had another 27 rounds in the clip -- properly, Martinez, 25, could have killed the hero cop pursuing him and countless others walking through the swarming tourist mecca Thursday morning.
