Well that can't be - the orders for Winter Operations state that unused Department vehicles must be started at least once during a 24-hour period and run for 10 minutes so as to ensure proper function. Especially in the case of bone-numbing cold on tap for the next week or so. Leaving the superintendent's car covered in snow would seem to be a no-no.
Hopefully he's seeking out a retirement locale for next February.

It IS possible that J-Fed was so tired after spreading goodwill and tidings on Christmas Eve at HQ that he nodded out in the Explorer and succumbed to exhaust fumes and/or the elements.

He does get furlough time and unpaid days off. He's not from Chicago so he's probably back home for the holidays. The real story is the lazy people who are supposed to take care of his car. I cannot remember ever seeing a Superintendent's car covered in snow in the last 24 years. That's a clear indication of laziness or disrespect. Doesn't matter whether you like or hate the Superintendent. My advice: get new drivers.

Stop being a drama queen. The provision for doctors to make their patients aware of living wills and asking what their wishes are is HARDLY euthanasia.
Without even being elderly, every one of US should have addressed this question with our physicians and our families by now. The elderly don't have a corner on medical emergencies.
When I told my mother and my work partner what I wanted (and gave each of them a copy of my living will), it prompted that same conversation with my mother. Was THAT a euthanasia mandate, too? Goof.

Not CPD Academy, but some other program used by suburban Departments. Good for him. Does this mean Suburban Cops wishing to transfer to Chicago don't have to complete the CPD academy? If they let Masters do it why not all the rest?
Somebody should tell O'Keefe. Last winter he and his Sgt would drive through District lots to see if there were cars that had snow on them. If they did he determined that they were not needed and pulled them out. I guess that does not applies to exempt cars.

No. Cpd does not allow Officers from other agencies to transfer to Chicago unless they attend the Chicago Police Academy. I Don't know what kinda scam this Masters guy is pulling but he is NOT authorized to carry a gun. End of Story.

Did you get the letter from the benefits management office? If youi have kids in college or not 19-25 years old you have to fill it out and they will raise your insuarnce up to $440.00 more per month per kid! As a result, and required from time to time, is a mandate to provide again proof of dependency.
This is not new, it has happened at least twice before during my career, you just send in the documentation and that is that, I got my son's birth certificate sent back to me within a week, no problem.
Some people don't read or they just are to bitter or stupid or both, the city asks for something, next thing you know they are screaming "What is FOP doing about this??
What happens when you come to a red light on your way to work? Do you call the FOP and demand an explanation?
Next time, take the time to read the damn thing all the way through, take a deep breath and then just comply. Big fucking deal.
Every time there are large changes in who is covered under a class, such as this one, all dependents must again be proven to be eligible.
Police and Fire are the only city employees whose children are covered for as long as they are. the cost is not in the contract, thus, may and does change.
Health insurance overall is not in the FOP contract, thus it is subject to change at the whim of the City. It wasn't included in the first contract and now never will be included. Nothing new here.
Dependent coverage IS covered in the contract but not the cost, hence the increase.
Costs go up, think of it as the City raising everything, along with the parking meter rates. The City is required to provide the dependent coverage but they aren't required to keep the cost down.
They are anticipating an arbitrator giving us a raise and are getting some dough back in advance. Expect more of this, they will raise insurance and fees and any increases in City fees this year almost certainly will be blamed on police raises.

Was listening to Mancow & Cassidy today and they kept announcing that the Supt was going to be on. Well I walked away for a bit and next thing you know, Mancow has a caller on the phone by the name of "John" talking about this Supt being a "stroke" and what he did to William Cozzi. Mancow's producer called the Supt and he stated he didn't know he was going to be on the show. This caller John then mentioned this fantastic website. Mancow said he lives at this site. John stated that (and I'm paraphrasing) it's great to have someone like Mancow as an advocate for the police because the mainstream media is not behind
them.

Read the fine print Dooley...this takes effect for your unmarried child at the age of 25, not up to the age of 25. You seem like another paranoid-the sky is falling-Debbie Downer. 19-24 is still covered.
