Again, Bad News
- A man allegedly shot in the head last month by an off-duty Chicago Police officer at the officer's Southwest Side home after an alleged night of drinking filed a petition Wednesday requesting the Chicago Police Department, the officer and the bar make available all records.

Please reserve your negative accusatory comments which i'm sure are to come for another time. If you heard the entire account of what happened, sure the officer may have had some drinks, but the event that led to the police coming to his house was not of his doing. The ODPO called the police to help his friend. These reports are really something else. I think 80% of that story was wrong.

Will definately be a problem for the city defending his conduct and lack of discipline for other off duty incidents. His career is over. Jail time a possibility. If he is in AZ like they say he is, I hear Nogales, Mexico is a good time. Adios.
I only carry on duty and even then WHY - Who am I going to shoot? Ignore the BS and live your life. This is the GOlden PAycheck until the City goes Belly Up!! Which isnt too far down the road. We are not the police anymore so geta clue!

This is a news item taken off of a LAWSUIT, not a report of what actually happened... we shouldn't give it the time of day as far as commenting on it.. the "friend" of the officer is obviously suing him, along with the bar and what, the department? Whatever, anyone who has ever been sued knows that the "plaintiff" can claim ANYTHING in a lawsuit, with no proof or supporting evidence. Lets not give ammo to the enemy here...

I'm sorry you had to see him that way. He is usually a very pleasant person to be around. No excuses can be made for a fellow PO treating other PO's like shit though, drunk or not. But outside of drinking, this guy is very likable and always had our backs. Sorry you had to deal with him like that and really sad that this is his legacy with the cpd. The bottle has ruined many good guys.

First of all the victim shot himself, not PK. I realize that the whole unsecured gun thing is wrong and i'm sure his condition at the time of the incident was not good either, but the SCUMTIMES and SOUTHTOWN had about 5% of the facts in the case right.
PK did indeed get into a dust up with the responding officers, which I also agree is wrong, but his best friend just shot himself in the head with his gun at 4:45 in the morning and who knows what exchange happened between him and the coppers from 022?
Yet in typical CPD fashion we get the rumor mill started with the help of some fucking miserable fucks on 3rd watch in 009 or some 4 year wonder who heard a "story"!
God forbid you pull for someone who fucked up, b/c no copper ever has right?
Let's see what happens with the case before we bury the guy or wish bad shit on him! It's no wonder the media and everyone else shits on us, look what we do to our own.

Yeah, you guys really need to stop throwing those stones around. The lawyers and media always put the worst spin on it. It could happen to any of us. It happened to me years ago. I was drinking a little with some buddies. We were playing cards at my house. I was losing pretty good, so I guess I may have had a few too many. But, Hey! Where's the crime in that? Next thing I know the guy that had all my chips in front of him, who had quite a few as well I might add, is walking out through my garage to leave when, without saying a word, goes over to my bench, picks up my compound bow and proceeds to shoot himself in the back. Then the maniac runs about 30 yards down the block, screaming, and puts another arrow clean through his neck. I was devastated. I mean who would have seen that coming? I just happen to be there and WAM! Next thing I know I got a dead guy laying on my neighbors lawn with two self-inflicted archery wounds. Man, talk about a kill-buzz.
Lets see here,
Drunk, 4:30am, past alcohol related beefs, fails to conduct himself with any degree of professionalism, not much time on the job, fights with his fellow officers, leaves his loaded gun laying around, disregards any and all conduct rules, fails to be responsible for his behavior repeatedly, etc. Yeah, he's a real asset to the CPD, simply irreplaceable. Thanks for making us all look like a bunch of drunken assholes, again....

I can say that I know both parties involved in this situation. Neither impress me very much, and I choose not to associate with them. That being said, I won't judge one way or another, and the real story will probably never be known. If old boy is ever able to communicate with other humans again, maybe. Otherwise it is all based on what ODPO has in his, presumably blacked out memory.
The facts are there though, ODPO was a piece of shit completely out of line with responding officers and sgt.. I don't know anything about "pissing" on his hands, but a safe bet would be he had some blood and brain matter all over him. Does the ODPO have a background of DUMB ASS decisions, especially while drinking??? Sure does. So his outcome is on him. I do hate that it makes the rest of us look bad, but stupid people on this job will continue till the end of time.
Now as for the lawsuit, just pathetic state tort laws allowing this suit, especially at this point. No reason whatsoever to sue the Department or the Tavern(s), they don't effect peoples actions in THEIR homes. Brewbaker's is a nasty nasty place that doesn't bring much good to the area, but it is what it is. It is not however responsible for peoples decisions.
