A top ethics aide to Mayor Richard Daley has resigned in the face of allegations that he and his boss used poor judgment in the handling of a student intern's sexual harassment complaint.
Mark Meaney resigned his $146,940-a-year position as first deputy in the mayor's Office of Compliance. He had joined Anthony Boswell to run the office in 2007, which Daley created to promote a culture of good conduct among city workers.

Daley didn't "trust" Hoffman (IG) so he started another scam to take care of his "people" with high paying "do nothing" jobs! "Whitey Bulger" Daley is the real "Teflon Don!" No one dare accuse him of anything or else they end up "gone!" Daley stated he felt that the Shakman decree should be "retired" because "I promised not to do that kind of stuff no more!" Fingers crossed maybe?

There's No Such Thing as "Ethics" in Daley's Administration anyway. Expecting honesty and integrity out of anyone in the Daley Administration is like shaking a salt-shaker and expecting an elephant to come pouring out.
Just another layer of bureaucracy insulating the Mayor and giving him deniable plausibility.
And the challenge is????? What ethics? I'm looking in the mirror and I smell smoke!
How many more hidden jobs are there in the daley crime kingdom? Strangely everytime the police need anything we are broke, but come to daley and his criminal empire he finds millions to freely give out! Move along nothing to see! Look at the towing company,let me understand this you take a persons car,and if they do not claim it you give the city (us) $50.00 and you can resell someones car for a huge profit! Oddly enough, this office has a 5 million+ budget. Nobody can figure out what it does full time, other than rubber stamp what the mayor wants.
I beg your pardon, SCC!!! There should be no dissolution of this 'new and innovative' unit! When the WEISel is given his walking papers next year (if not sooner!), and (hopefully) a real cop takes the helm of the CPD, I can't think of no better office for which to transfer the dubious talents of Masters and Rayray. I think the two of them would find it refreshing to start over in an office for which they are clearly unqualified and undeserving. Being political animals themselves, they will no doubt find it comforting to sit so close to the lap of Shortshanks.

Since Trotter every single boss there and their immediate underlings have done nothing but bring the service and quality of employees down. Nothing can be done there because you have the blind leading the blind. Supervisors are afraid of frivilous racial discrimination law suits for simply requiring employees to do their jobs. I went through the academy with Garrido and never really liked him but I voted for him because he said the thing that made the most sense. And that incident hardly qualifies as "everything". Have you seen the news lately about the two guys at the compliance office? That all stems from the 911 Center. Shit broke loose there and was not swept under the carpet. Those guys at compliance fucked it up, not the 911 Center people.

How will it happen? If a worthy challenger enters the Democratic primary the daley crime family will run a shill(s) tp siphon votes away and allow the chief criminal daley to skate to victory.
Or, the same thing can happen if a democrat runs as a Republican. And who will fund this? Business people know what will happen if they put their money on a losing candidate, they will get frozen out of TIF funds and favors from Don 'Ciccio' daley.
Then there are the thug precinct workers who will no doubt be out in force to intimidate election workers and voters.
It is set up to heavily favor the incumbent. The best we can hope for is a swift indictment/trial/conviction/imprisonment or a massive myocardial infarction.
The M.I. is our best hope. Beating this guy is a very long shot. Voter turnout hasn't been much above 30% for decades. You would need a massive, unheard of voter turnout of 80% or more to beat daley. I would love to see it happen but there is no way that many people will ever get off their ass in this town.
We don't even have decent voter registration among our own ranks! You would hope so but it isn't so. Many officers are not even registered to vote. That is why FOP is considering voter doing registration. But people will a reason to curse out the FOP even then.
I would love to see daley get swept out of office but realistically I just don't see it happening.

No one got "fired". He resigned because he refused to abide by the "order" sent down by downtown to take the blame for something he didn't do. All the evidence was clear and in black and white. Only 2 names appeared on all the financial paperwork, Huberman and Heigel. Alot of emails surfaced (this guy kept EVERYTHING)too giving the go ahead for installation and funding and 3 names appeared in all the "from" lines on the emails, Huberman, Lodding and Heigel. You can bet that "box" of evidence is burried deep in Maura Georges office. This guy was burned and he is still suffering for it

Okay. It was miswritten. You are correct. No one got fired. He resigned, however, he was told to resign, or be FIRED. They let him walk away instead of ejecting him, but the end result is the same. He gone!

The bravado sounds good, but realistically if you hit a supervisor your terminated first offense. My supervisor started sexually harassing me and I reported it, taking all the proper steps. Let's just say it never got past the point where he was trying to squeeze the Charmin. I knew better than to allow the situation to escalate. The guy was sore at me, but the harassment stopped. Three men including his best friend (another supervisor), his supervisor and sidekick, backed him up.
Given this scenario, if I slapped the guy across the face when his hands started wandering, I would have had him, his best friend (another supervisor), his boss, and sidekick swearing that he did nothing wrong. I would have been terminated from a 20+ year job with no pension, no legal recourse, and a bad reference.
Yea but...If you and 4 or 5 petite chicks followed him into the mens room, pretended you were going to pleasure him, pantsed him, ran out and forced him to have to call a friend on his cell phone to bring him clothing so he could leave the bathroom because he was naked and you took cell phone pics of his willie before you ran, do you REALLY think he'd want anyone to find out? C'mon.
I'd be afraid of cracking the lens on the camera. The zoom isn't that great for magnification purposes ; )
