Cohen to Quit
A tearful Scott Lee Cohen, the pawnbroker who won the Democratic lieutenant governor nomination, only to have his scandalized past surface and threaten the ticket, said Sunday he would step aside, giving Democratic party leaders a chance to pick his replacement.
“For the good of the people of State of Illinois and the Democratic party, I will resign,” Cohen said at the Hop Haus, a bar and restaurant at 7545 N. Clark during the Super Bowl. The choked up Cohen, a political neophyte who poured $2 million into his campaign, was flanked by his fiancee, Karen Reisman and two of his sons, Zachery, 17, and Jacob, 11.
“It is my hope and I pray with all heart, that I didn’t hurt the people that I love so much,” Cohen said. “All I every wanted to do was to run for office and to help the people, not cause chaos.”
Hopefully, this is as bad a misstep as leaving him on the ticket.

Scott Lee Cohen just dropped out of the Lieutenant Governor's race and has thereby assisted the unholy cabal of Durbin, Quinn, Madigan x's 2, Cullerton, and the Democrat Party Central Committee in their quest to circumvent the will of the people.
With Cohen out of the way, the cabal can pick whomever they choose to pick. They are not required to take the 2nd place finisher in the Lieutenant Governor primary on the Democrat side.
Watch them choose Hynes! If they do, it appears we will have another 4 years and more of the Democrats. Talk about stepping in shit and come out smelling like a rose! Damn!
But there might be a possible formidable challenge. If the 27 year old rich kid (Plummer?)on the Republican side for Lieutenant Governor will to do the same thing and drop out, we might have a chance. Then, if Brady and Dillard can bury the hatchet, so we can have a Brady-Dillard ticket on the Republican side, we might just have a chance in the Governor's race and rid ourselves of the Democrats. Pray!

Hey jagbag, where did I state I do not like Plummer because his family is successful? His family's success has nothing to do with it. His inexperience and his "purchase" of the primary spot are the reasons Plummer has no more business on the Republican ticket for Lieutenant Governor than Scott Lee Cohen did on the Democrat ticket for Lieutenant Governor.

Besides, which Republican ticket would have a better chance of winning the governor's race? Brady-Dillard or Brady-Who dat?

Art Turner claims the he was #2 in receiving the most votes for him to be lt. gov.
As viewing the final votes it seems that Mr. Turner got about 122,000 votes but then about 650,000 Illinois voters did vote against him.
No thanks to any Democratic ticket unless the true elected candidate is on the ballot.
Maybe the Dems would wise up if enough voters would wise up and pull a straight Republican ballot for the next couple of elections?
