Crime Down - Where's Our Contract?
Crime dropped 3.7 percent in January 2010 compared to January 2009, according to preliminary statistics released by Chicago police today.
The homicide count was down 16 percent in the comparison of the two months.
According to the police statistics, the violent crime index was down 9 percent, while the property crime index was down 2.2 percent.
If we're doing such a great job (and doing more with less), then it would seem to follow we are deserving of a rather significant performance based raise.
We don't see the garbage being picked up any faster - sometimes, they are even skipping a day or more. We don't see the buses running any better. We certainly don't see the school producing Nobel Prize winners recently. Only the police seem to be doing their jobs and stifling the criminal malfeasance that occurs on a daily basis. We'll take what the teachers and aldercreatures got and call it even.

True do your job well and get nothing, be a fuck up and get everything! Only in shitcago! Talked to a guy at pension fund yesterday and was going to retire,he told me pension is only fully funded until 2017 then we are broke,as city has not and will not meet obligations! Mike Shields what say you??

Im a member of the chicago police departments mobile strike force. Ive got to say that I think the mobile strike force is the sole reason that crime in the city is down. Every night we saturate the worst parts of the city and lock up the bad guys. We arent the guys out writing regular people parking tickets, speeding tickets or duis. we get the guns and the gang bangers unlike the rest of the blue shirts out on the street. Supt weis made our unit just to reduce crime. Since we were formed crime dropped dramatically in 09 and is gonna be one of the lowest of all the big citys in 2010.

SCC said "The homicide count was down 16 percent in the comparison of the two months." Easy to do if you just take the body parts found around the city and call them "Daley Suicides". Yeah sure, suicides by self dismemberment should be a separate crime, like littering...
Everything is going to be okay.
Richard M Daley is the Mayor, Barack Hussein Obama is the President.
All is well Folks!
Gator Bradley- President of Growth and Development
It's all legit!
We sure hope that when we get a contract the FOP negotiated a settlement for the Behaviorial Program Inductees. We will never forget. And Sid, and Mark...we'll be at the next FOP meeting. With signs and posters and video camera. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
OT - While the City Council passed the Mayor's budget REQUIRING most city employees to take 15 unpaid furlough days a year, many Aldermen are declining to do the same. Here's the list of Aldermen's furlough days:

Can we finally give a little credit to the sup who has brought about a whole new way of policing here in Chicago. It is his policies that have cuased the drop in crime during this recession.
Check again..Homicides are even.
look out--- cta bus and rail unions may strike sunday or monday in the face of the planned 1000 employee layoff--- don't answer the phone unless you want the overtime.......
O.T.
CTA don't give in to furlo days.
When the economy was roaring none was shared with you, the workers.
Now, through coruption and missmanagement, yet another doomsday looms. Managements answer is to take it out of your pay.
This model of privatiseing gains while socialising losses will destroy this country.
Time to fight !
A bit off topic, but a must read. The Federal Gov has a plan to change everyone's 401K, IRA's etc...They intend to require workers to invest all or a percentage of their money into government annuities and bonds. Yes, they want to take over our Deferred Comp. You have to call your senators and tell them NO! These ass*oles have no shame.

CAN I GET ONE MORE EVENT NUMBER PLEASE?
Where's our contract. It would be in our back pocket... if we all stuck together. We get what we get...SCREWED because we dont!
SCC said "The homicide count was down 16 percent in the comparison of the two months."
SCC didn't say that. If it's in italics on the main page, it's quoted from a news source.

harrison striker hahahahahahahahahahahahaha that is the funniest thing i have ever read. to whoever posted it on this site thanks brother you made my morning now i have to clean the coffee off the keyboard
When Daley hired J-Fed and was asked about his salary, he said, "You want the best, you pay for the best." what does Daley think about us?
"Crime is down"...especially if you skew the crimes a bit..."Criminal trespass" instead of burglary, "Simple battery" Instead of Aggravated battery, and my favorite, "Death investigation" instead of Homicide!!
And because the job is done with less, the standard has been set, and now they expect to continue to get more with less...(reference: the budget model)
Oh, and despite our streets being plowed and salted REPEATEDLY on Election primary day, NOTHING was done overnight or today for the sheets of glaze-ice throughout the city. Just WHAT is the money being spent on, because it's not city services or the police...
Fuck you, pay me.

It's not just Democrats and Obama who are in on this scam. It is also the Republicans. But oh they are so slick, the will go on the Sunday morning shows and claim their objections but then while in Congress they will do nothing/act like they tried to stop that bill.
Make no mistake, either Democrat or Republican, they all work for the same crime syndacite.

This was written by someone sooooo soft that he probably still needs his mothers permission to go out after school.
City Hall is simply looking for how few police officers they can get away with before the city erupts in flames. Frankly, with crime down, manpower down, and coppers bragging about how little they do, I don't think we're anywhere near bottom yet.
Free Bill Cozzi
Masters, Masters, Masters
keep doing your job boys and girls, and like king daley says, "ask your neighbors, be lucky you have a job!" Why should they give us a contract and a raise since we have not had one in over 3 years... did the aldermen have to wait this long? or the mayors staff of knights? no just the police and fire... thanks king daley you and todd have made extremely afforadable to live in this cold , gray gang infested city...
Take a hint from todd, next election you may be on the outside looking in as well... However, I am sure first thing todd does is move out of crook county and I know your irish a*% will leave the mess of a city you created.
anybody with less then 16 and a half years on will not see a pension from this city. Don't believe me? Go test the statement and get back to me. It's simple math and a fact.
I'll take the overtime, I need it to provide for my family in this over priced schity! Although I would enjoy spending time with my family however I can not because I have to work 2 side jobs to make up for our lack of raise... Cost of Living hello daley you jackass
I am the baddest member of the department. When I come down your block you will feel my thunder as I exit my mobile strike force vehicle, puff out my chest and strut. I am better then any other officer out there and jody tells me so. there is nothing that I can not do or handle. The mobile strike force has trained me into the ultimate city employee... Just please buy my benefit ticket when the bosses turn their backs on me and im left to fend for myself. HA HA KEEP PUSHING GUYS!

I don't know what Mike shields has to say but I do not believe this, even after the financial downturn.
The multiplier needs to be increased, the City has not increased this for many many years. We could probably kick in an extra 1% too. (I know, sacrilege)
If the fund does go bust, the City of Chicago is on the hook for our pensions. such a calamity would likely drive the City into bankruptcy and I don't know how that would work out.
This much is certain, if the pension fund goes kaput, there will be so much more wrong that it probably won't matter, the city will be on fire or something similar.
I heard we are getting a ribbon!!!

thanks for visiting mrs weis!

If the City can't pay our pension, then the State needs to pick up the tab. The State of Illinois has to back up all City Pensions.
If this MSF dude has to put on his uniform, I'm sure his shirt is blue. Don't get it twisted into thinking you are different than us. WAKE UP ASSHOLE!!!!
Vallejo, California is getting out of its pension obligations - filing bankruptcy.
Utah is trying to kill state pensions and will only pay those that are already in the fund.
Harrisburg, Pa. is looking at Bankruptcy to solve its pension and fiscal problems.
I , personally, will give the pension fund until 2022. After that, it will not exist.
As for " being on the hook"-- who? City?State?-- until some politically appointed judge rules against the pensioners.
old retired guy
The best is that everyone on the job is worried about their "retro" for what 5k-- and they are probably not concerned with their pension that is worth 750k.
old retired guy
By the way-- I could ride it out without a pension.

WHAAA? You "talked to a guy at pension fund yesterday" and took his word for it that the Fund is going broke by 2017? What were u doing at the fund? Holding the "guy"s hand? Why didn't you talk to Mike Shields? What's that? Because you're a liar?
Shields, don't bother responding to this sort of moron. He's just a lying fool. Keep up the good work, brother.

PENSIONS ARE ALL COVERED BY FEDERAL AND STATE WE R ALL GOOD!
"...We certainly don't see the school producing Nobel Prize winners recently...."
That's 'cuz all of the future prize winners were killed last summer and fall. The news said so, even had pictures of the geniuses in their caps and gowns.

Damn right and it is time people recognize how much I did to improve the CPD. Why, in 1960 I brought the Chicago Police department, kicking and screaming, into the 20th Century!
At last some recognition! Thank you, thank you!
There is no federal guarantee of our pension. The PBGC is a federal agency that guarantees corporate pensions.
The State has an implicit guarantee but any political judge can change that.
