So J-Fed was on the street with no gun, no handcuffs, no OC and no vest? Any or all of those are a violation of a number of Rules or Orders and should result in a sustained violation being entered into the disciplinary record.

Ilana Rosenzweig, executive director of the Independent Police Review Authority, confirmed that a complaint was filed accusing Weis of “failure to take appropriate police action.”
Since IPRA’s jurisdiction is limited to domestic violence, excessive force and verbal abuse allegations against police officers, the complaint has been referred to Inspector General Joe Ferguson.
“That’s the protocol in place for a complaint against the superintendent that does not fall under our jurisdiction,” Rosenzweig said.
Last year, IPRA recommended a written reprimand against Weis for making a statement in a TV interview that appeared to support Barack Obama’s candidacy for president.
So IPRA only investigates domestic violence, excessive force and verbal abuse, yet it sustained a reprimand against J-Fled just last year for making political hay in uniform? Which is it? Evidently, it's getting hard to tell the lies from the truth downtown.

Actually, this is only the second fastest finding of unfounded in CPD history. The record is still held by the Bartender Bea Cuello investigation of guns and drugs found in her condo. That one was unfounded in under 6 hours.

Take a second look at the video. Try to pause it as J-Fled (LOVE the new moniker, by the way) turns to glance over his right shoulder. Look closely at his facial expression, and in particular pay close attention to those beady fucking rat eyes.
You don't have to be a police officer to recognize fear in someone's eyes.

Second City Cop all I have to say is that I rode on my calls this week and there were a lot of shots fired calls. A lot of police were out responding. A lot of people shot. This week I have noticed that a lot of cops and citizens are really feeling RAGE. There is a lot of frustration out there in the hood. It is both by cops and citizens. Never before have I ever observed this type of behavior. It is becoming quite typical now, now more then ever. People are fed up and now the cops. I believe people are at a snapping point now. Including cops. A lot of tension out there. The things I thought were jokes are becoming threats. Chicago is in the National news now. All this talk about more with less might look good on paper but doesn't work with humans. It is getting to the point I don't want to come to work anymore. Things are really messed up. I used to think this was all a joke. It ain't anymore.
I know I'll hear lots of guff but I think this whole issue is being blown out of proportion. I never mince words and I've told the Superintendent via e-mail how I feel on a lot of issues, and for the record I hate Daley and I think he's a thief (for those who'll say I'm a suck up). But just this past Friday I was in a foot chase and the first cars on the scene were exempts. The Superintendent does some things that makes me scratch my head but I've seen him on the street and it's my opinion he's no coward.

What would the mayor think if he had a fire commissioner who fled the area of a burning building while people were screaming for help from a fire engulfed building. In a sense that what Weis did when he fled that shots fired and homicide scene. Oh wait the mayor doesn't care, he was at a White Sox game with his grandson. I'm not saying don't spend time with your family, but the mayor must really get his priorities in order. After all, the citizens realize the city is out of control and are requesting that the national guard be brought in, but the mayor goes to a ball game. WTF!

You are'nt the only one. When you start noticing that more people are going on the medical,bs I.O.D.,people that didn't take off before are dropping slips left and right....you know that something is not kosher. On top of that, there is the arrogance of management everytime you ask for a legitimate thing whether it would be more paper or a schedule change, management just looks at you like, how dare you ask. Well to that the troops are responding by not coming to work. Trouble is, our safety is at issue here something the FOP I'm afraid aren't taking seriously. I do agree that there is more angry, frustrated people on the job. And the citizens are'nt happy campers either.
I am in Florida basking in the sun relaxing and saw a clip of Chicago courtesy of CNN. In my relaxed state of mind, what I saw in the news made me think why do I want to come back to work. I noticed my body becoming tense just watching the series of events unfold with the footage of shooting in my city. I shut off the TV and vowed not to turn it on again while out here in the Sunshine State. Remember, lock the bad guys up because when I get back I don't want to have any stress. It's bad for your health.
Bottom line is he should have responded to the scene to check it out and then refer the whole incident to whoever was in charge there. Period.
Note: if you want to play the police and wear OUR uniform with all the stars and buttons and ribbons AND be driven in the best and most protected vehicle in the whole department, at LEAST show up at the scene of the crime and act like you are interested/concerned. He should be at least cited for not wearing the proper gear (vest, gun belt, etc), especially presenting yourself in the hood.

Frustration in the hood? Why would that be? Is it the lack of jobs? The lack of quality education? I don't think so. Most of the ghetto rats don't need no stinkin job cause they get paid once a month for doing nothing except hanging out, slinging dope and terrorizing their neighborhood. They've got nothing to be frustrated about, except maybe their dope sales are down this week.
The past 2 bosses would NOT have cut-n-run, wait they were at least the POLICE!!! Then again they didn't make over $300,000.00.

Tell us what happened with all the CR#'s Chief of Staff Mike Masters has gotten including him interfering with a police investigation (he was interrogated for more than three hours regarding), arresting a citizen on New Year's Eve (he is not sworn and is not the police, I hope the citizen gets a good lawyer), being seen carrying a gun on more than 3 occasions (remember Mayor Daley is fighting to keep guns off the street so that does include your Chief of Staff), his legal case where he got pissed at a motorist, ran his information, had TBIT bring all of his properties up as "Target" properties, then all of his tenants sued the city for being harassed, the City's Law Department was even sued (I have the case number and file, remember this is public information) You cost the city thousands on this one for abusing your powers! How come no CR# was initiated? What about the motorist that was hit?
3. Dan Dugan dumping Bob Lopez without permission, him not telling you or anyone else the truth regarding it, then you being held to task! Was Martinez dumped for lying the same day? Are you covering for him or justifying his actions like you do the people you like!

Then a "civilian" should not be wearing a CPD uniform, which our supe does wear. Be one or the other. If he is our "civilian" leader, then don't wear our uniform with all the pomp that goes with it.

Even if he was exonerated, there is no way that Daley can even remotely justify giving him another 300+ per year, for handling only one of the two jobs he was originally hired for.

Check again. He is sworn as a peace officer in Illinois. Otherwise he cannot wear the uniform. He was qualified at the academy and Howard signed off on it. In fact my friend, several feds are sworn including masters, masters, masters.

I ask but one question: wasn't the reason the Superintendent was provided with the Ford Expedition so he had the ability to have all the necessary equipment with him at all times to respond to situations as needed.
Mr. Drew, I would suggest that before you open your mouth again to spew the lies you are so adept at telling you check into matters like this. All the documentation one would need is in the Fleet Management file on his vehicle. Justifications and so on are available. I understand you are new to the job and are a complete tool of Ms. Jackie Heard the High Priest of Spin but really, how hard would it have been for you to check before you spoke.
I do know of what I speak since I work for fleet. Somewhat poetic isn’t it.

Director Drew, your assertion that the charges of “cowardice” against Superintendent Weis are “absurd” is in fact the true absurdity. I was under the impression that Police Officers are to have their “gear” available at all times when attending to their official duties. The excuse that the Superintendent had to go back to 35th Street to “get his gear” is without merit. The primary reason the Superintendent used to justify his being assigned a rather large Ford Expedition SUV was he needed the extra storage capacity to be able to respond at a moments notice to any event. You Sir were placed as the CPD’s Director of News Affairs by mayoral PIO Jackie Heard to protect the image of the Superintendent as Ms. Heard has protected the Mayor for years. Anyone with more that two minutes on the job realizes you, along with your 19th Ward politically appointed Assistant Director, are but mere tools of the establishment. We who understand what Police Work is all about will never respect your comments on any issue. The mental midgets that comprise the vast percentage of the City’s populace will believe you but we won’t.
Hey how bout another CR# for inattention to duty because he was on the street without his gear in an official capacity? They tried to give me 30 days for not wearing a holster during an off duty arrest.Oh hell lets just lock him up for imitating a police officer!
