Unpreventable Homicides
A number of killings that can't be prevented by any special missions or task forces - and this weekend was not kind:
- A Marquette Park woman is dead more than two weeks after her son shot her and allegedly murdered four family members April 14 at her South Side home.
- A man in his 70s shot two younger men in an apparent domestic dispute Sunday that unfolded in the backyard of his West Town home, and then shot himself, authorities said.
The killings happened just before noon outside an apartment house in the 1700 block of West Erie Street
These can't be blamed on manpower, just people not getting along.

Why, with their expertise in finding drinkers, pissers, bicycle riders on the sidewalk, and a midget selling "loosies" on the train, crime would be wiped out in no time!

Under analysis and aside from vastly improved medical successes , the tragic fact is that the overwhelming number of homicides are beyond police prevention and control.
Handguns, handguns! It was the handguns that did it!
Yeah, I know, it's not necessarily a good defense down at 26th Street. But in the media court of public opinion and in the pea brain of Shortshanks, there's your answer.

so what's your point? I live in a northside neighborhood and work down south. We dont want drinkers and pissers on the northside. Take a trip down north once. Whole different world over here and we want it to stay that way. Good luck cleaning up the south side, I know I've failed in that regard as has everyone else.
Family love/family hate ...domestics can be the deadliest calls for a police officer. Stay safe.

There is more crime going on than pissers and drinkers. I live north too... don't want them either, but I can't ride a train or bus or take my kids to the lake front without being hassled by some young southsider, nor can I park my car without fear of a burglary... and it's not the pissers and drinkers doing that; concentrate on the real bad guys, not the one-and-done piss-bum routine.
They sit around and laugh, telling war stories, purporting themselves as the real police, then they should do some real police work where it's needed. I'm tired of hearing about all the shootings, and especially bothered by two women getting attacked with a bat, knowing that the bosses allow these guys to arrest the first drinker they see and let them go home early, or at the least stay down on the arrest until the end of the tour.
Resources are being wasted on crimes that don't exist until they make one up, leaving the beat cars to take the jobs where they could be getting some intel, but damn if they'll actually go out and try to find real crime and possibly deter it... fucking princesses.
I live on the northside and no not in 016. Iam glad the Tact guys are locking up the piss bums and other quality of life problems. Also u should blame the bosses who demand numbers from these guys. Remember "quantity comes before quality in the dictionary so go get some heads. " No boss will sign off on guys doing burglary/robbery surveillances day in and day out with no numbers being produced. Downtown wants numbers and if u don't realize that you haven't been around long. And no I don't work tact.
No doubt about it, some motherfuckers just need to be killed! Been that way for a long time.
...About noon Sunday, witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing the retiree opening fire on the victims, who both eventually collapsed outside the family home. One witness told the Tribune that the elder Bahena walked over to one of his downed son and fired three or four shots as the man shouted "no."
On Monday, police Superintendent Jody Weis had harsh words for Arturo Bahena for the "ambush style" killings of his sons. He noted that Bahena was convicted of unlawful use of a weapon in 1978 and 1991.
"Their lives will never be the same due to this selfish and cowardly action of this murderer, who, after committing these crimes, turned his gun on himself rather than face justice," Weis said.
