What the Hell is This?
Some kind of tray? With a pipe leading into the wall?
And it's not just one...it's a bunch?
An e-mailer says that these are in the 011 District patrolman's locker room, catching various drips and leaks, then directing them to a drain in a closet.
First of all, congratulations to the Plumber's Union because this is an amazing bit of "engineering" if ever we saw it. Secondly, what the hell? Why isn't stuff like this installed in every police station in the city? We could have saved ourselves a few hundred bucks in dry cleaning if we had had a couple of these installed years ago.
It's amazing what passes for safe work environments around here.

Look at the rust and corrosion in the second photo. Unbelievable! It would be nice if these photos could find their way to a reporter who would actually write about them.
I remember a maintenance worker coming into the locker room in 025 to clean the vents, he opend it up took one look & resealed it, stating this can't be cleaned the whole building should be condemned. True Story...
I just finished enlarging both pictures to get a better look.
Are those actually garbage bags draped over EXPOSED, rusty high-current electrical junctions to deflect water into those pans?? Plus it obvious that those electrical junctions have been getting wet for quite some time given the amount of rust on them.
I believe 011 had an electrical fire that closed the entire building for a few weeks just a couple of years ago. Could leaking pipes/water meeting an electrical source have been the cause of that smokey fire? If memory serves me correctly, it WAS an electrical fire that started in the basement electrical room which is adjacent to the men's locker room. Can anyone in 011 confirm this?
Either way, that certainly looks like a fire/electrocution hazard to me. I hope for the safety of the guys and gals in 011 someone reports this as an unsafe working environment to FOP, OSHA, etc.
It's just too bad that the bought-and-paid-for media will never touch this, and the FOP doesn't give a flying fuck about our health.
Now all you warriors get out there and write some parkers and ANOVs - Daley needs the cash for his life after Mayor of Shitcago.
McGuyver Plumbing at work. Got 200 large ones for the job, but was nicked for a fast 40 as a compaign contribution. Had to guarentee the job for 6 weeks, so I subbed it out to Walsh, they're on the hook for it.
Nice! I've seen stuff like this in new construction in Wisco! Picture what the Stuttering Midget's merry band of hack building inspectors would do to you if they found this crap in your home or business. But, it's OK for the City...
Do you think a City Building Inspector would allow this in any of of the City's buisnesses ???????
Another example of "the double standard" ????????
This would look great in our news papers, what a story !!!! But shortshanks controls the press and this 'll never make the Times or the Trib or any network news channels.
Such are the trials & tribulations of living/working in daleys chicago.
I will personally attest to the fact that these concoctions do indeed grace the men's locker room on the 11th district.
You should see some of the other things going on in that building in terms of dangerous, unhealthy and unsanitary work conditions.
There IS one good thing about the warmer weather and the mold-infused "chilly wind" being pumped through 011: the piles of unwashed masses that take over our lobby as a place to crash all winter have left the nest, taking with them their putrid odors and myriad of diseases...at least until it gets cold outside again.
Daits quality craiftsmanship right dere
Hell, that ain't shit! Upstairs in A/4, the ceiling actually fell onto a detectives head...and continued to crumble all over the place for weeks.
We had trash cans all over the place to catch the "rain" water for weeks. I figure in a few years, I'll be diagnosed with some sort of cancer from this shit!
Someone once said OSHA wouldn't touch the police buildings cause they're municipally owned & insured. Is this true?
its for condensation from the air vents
Dude, that is f'n awesome! I'm laughing my ass off looking at those pictures. What the F is that?
Why not just fix the fucking pipes?
Looks like the community around 011 in 011. Standing water in patrolmen's lockers, this is exceptional?
You have to wonder how many different species of mold, fungus, and bacteria are growing among the rust on the end of those vents in the second photo.
In fact, that "drip pan" in the second photo doesn't look like it's pitched very much, so I'll bet there's probably some nice putrid standing water in that thing most of the time - nice breeding ground for all sorts of little microbes.
I can imagine the look on a home inspector's face if I had similar marvels of engineering hanging in my basement when trying to sell my house....lol

Appears to be a large fabricated sheet metal tray, with a copper pipe, going into a return air duct, and then to where?
damn that is some fancy shit--- i guess the old 5 gallon bucket was not an option here--- the 5 gallon bucket is a cheap alternative to what the cost was to put up the stuff in the pictures--- only the best for chicago's finest--- does daley's office have plumbing like this......
(Monty Pythons 4 Yorkshiremen...) You had a metal tray? We would have DREAMED of having a tray. We lived in a rolled up newspaper in the basement of the old Gal Street station, laying next to floating defication during the rain storm...
Looks like someone should be getting a citation to appear at 400 W Superior and they better bring their check book.

For all of you hard charging, hair gel fueled, wanna-be narcotics officers in the 011 District. Please be aware that at 625 BLK of N. ALBANY is an I.A.D street investigations building. My source tells me that before the year is over there will be a few indictments concerning VIOLATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS, FALSEAFYING POLICE REPORTS, UNLAWFUL ARRESTS, and PURGERY.
IAD has been working in conjunction with certain LIBERAL states attorneys and a certain judge (hint hint SHES in branch 44-2)and waited for these officers who where be watched and who ALWAYS observed 3 similar but separate transactions, scooped the guys on corner and "found" the work, stopping people for no reason and finding in their pockets narcotics blah blah blah....and waited for these officers to testify in court to actually build a case on them.
Just be aware that IAD is out there, and what better easy pickings than the hair gel copper from 011 District. Unless your surveillance/street corner arrest is NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH SO HELP YOU GOD...then I would worry. Because these same Bosses that YOU think are looking at you with great pride will turn their back on you in a heartbeat when the shit hits the fan. And for all you court-whores out there making arrests because court is your side job. Just realize your "side job" might be the thing that gets you fired or indicted.
I do not know how far back this investigation has gone but please be warned. My source said mostly tactical team members and beat officers. Remember all the "rumors" about a certain SOS team being watched that everyone "thought" was bullshit??
This job has changed. Be safe, be SMART, BE WARNED.
Now theres a mold problem if I ever saw one!

Mutterings from 35th st about a new rule for foot chases: Seems 'officer safety' is looking to become a rule where, during a foot chase, the fast partner must slow down and keep pace with the slow partner. True story. If you are a fast runner but your partner is not, you will have to run slower so you dont leave him/her behind.
Those are urine collectors. They were installed to collect the bodily wastes during the Sgts Exam watersports phase of the testing.
The mold count has to be incredible in that locker room.
Hey where do I send pictures of the toilet they call the 12th district Men's locker room. We get water that seeps in from the ground even if it doesn't rain.
They don't build 'em like Maxwell Street station any more. Now THAT was a station house. It's no wonder they used it in the opening scene for Hill Street Blues.
take look at the air vents above the front desks and the cardboard and duck tape air deflectors..LMAO.
LIFM
Any other property that did this in Chicago, this place would be cited for big bucks $$$ and condemned as uninhabitable!
Just to think these properties were Union built! The Unions who helped build all these places aught to be ashamed of their works and be DE-certified from working on another project!
This stuff is embarrassing for the City of Chicago to allow to continue! Can you say kickbacks anyone?!
Weis has one like this in HIS OFFICE;
He has 4 naked dudes holding it 'up'.
Time for Federal inspectors to look into the so called minority contractors. Wonder which of the many honest politicans in Chicago had their pockets filled.
In Hdq, on the third floor data systems, check out the floors and the lockers. there is about a 7" incline.
definitely 011s lockerroom. wait til after todays rain...the hallway from the basement to the parking garage will have enough water in it to be a slip n slide
the pan pictured is called an overflow or secondary drain pan. In my state which uses the national building code (NC) the pans are required whenever the equipment, AC, water heater, washing machine could damage the structure or contents in the event of a leak in the primary drain system
you are incorrect scc they are devices which detect thought crime and omit subliminal messages into police officers minds, obey!!!obey!!! you will love the 2% the 2% is your friend
Those aren't for condensation, they're actually called "morale accumulators" . . . . . .
not an officer, but have been involved in remodeling, construction and design for some years. lmao at this shot!
also, walked into 12th district, as witness about 7 years ago- first time in Chicago Police Department building- and was SHOCKED and saddened for Officers at how decrepit and completely outdated it looked.
Part of the reason that the high rise projects smelled so bad was that the sewer pipes were encased in cement and when the pipes rusted/rotted away the liquids seeped into the concreteand then into the hallways.
It's one of the reasons they had to be torn down. This was told to me by someone in the know.

Does a grievance need to be filed? Or is this the solution after the grievance was already filed?
Don't worry, they love us a whole two percent.

The trays are used for the A/C systems. Condensation builds up on the duct work and drips on the floor. Pretty ghetto setup though.
It's nothing new. They installed a 3x4 foot drip pan in the lockup at 024 nearly 10 years ago. The leaking roof kept dripping on the lockup keeper's work station, computer and fingerprint machine and this was the engineer's way of fixing it. A drip pan with a hose that carried the water into the floor drain.

This is the end.
The year is 2010 but not for the Chicago Police Department we are stuck in the early 1800s. I have been in 3rd world countries where I have seen the same exact thing. Someone call OSHA. Disgusting!!! Fuck you Mayor!!! You spent millions on the Olympics and your police department is suffering. I hope the south loop riots where you live. You pathetic piece of garbage!!!
Just talked to a garbage truck driver and he stated to me that there is a Sgt. in 021 that made a traffic stop on a garbage truck, because the driver was on the cell phone and no seatbelt. Yes he was ticketed. What the F#@K. How true is this? Anyone in 021?

To the individual talking about the pension fund. It is in deep doo doo.
The pols will initially:
1. Two tier system for new hires. Will delay the inevitable.
2. Legislature will alter benefits for those who are on the job-- use some kind of pending doom reasoning. They would rather to this than actually cut their BS spending.
3. Once the emergency is declared, start judge shopping to lower the pensions of those collecting them.
It should take anywhere from 5 to 10 years for the pols to do all of this work.

" West Side, Inside Do-Nothing said..."nothing thats ever positive.
According to this guy all cops should come to work, do nothing and get paid. Screw doing your jobs or protecting the small number of citizens-police families and the like-that actually deserve protection.
Why don't you get off the west side and bid to those districts
where being a burned out, adverse to work type, would be an asset ?
And before you start your desk-lock up based " I drink the kool aid" rant, no, I ain't a fan of the mayor , JFLED,or none of the upper echelon.

Yeah, the city needs more honest non minority contractors like the Kenny and Duff families.

The same shit is going on with some of the young cops in my district. They don't get it; make a clean arrest or arrest someone on a signed complaint. It's that fucking easy.
Who told you that you have to stop people for no reason and then go through them AND THEN if you find something then you have to do some "creative writing"?
Where is Penny while all this is taking place?
Buissness is Slooooow daaady......
Are they back footing us in the legislature today? Reducing our max pension to 72?
My locker is in that row! It was nice of the plumbers to install the leak system after I left for another unit and don't have to worry about my stuff getting wet! A non-city building would've been condemned.

ABSOLUTELY! The spineless bosses want you to make arrests only because of pressure from above for bullshit index numbers.
But in reality the watch commanders do not want you making waves, getting in trouble or causing them any more work or hardships. Really!
Piss poor construction. You wonder who the city building inspectors were that approved the blue prints and then approved the various phases of construction?? I spent a few years in the old HQs building. We were on the 12th floor. The office had roaches crawling out of the typewriters, the heat went off frequently in the winter and we worked with coats on and the toilets stopped up in the men's and womens lockups and the feces ran down our walls. No body cared much about us then and I really do not think it has changed . Private industry emplopyees would never stand for this, but the mayor and the police brass just never gave a shit out the rest of us, just as long as they got theirs.Every station house I worked in ( 010, 011, 007 ) was a roach infested dump with no heat or air conditioning.
Its a still, call the revenuers.
off topic, but I had an interesting conversation with an actual decent citizen from somewhere in area 2. He tried talking to Alderman Leslie Hairston about drug dealing on his block. The alderman said to him, "do I look like I chase drug dealers?" He said that was the end of their conversation.
"Birdie from Homan Square" either has a great imagination or is very gullible.
It's all BS, but still good advice.
to birdie from homan square... 625 N Albany aint in 11. Tell us another story.
This is the kind of crap you see at old resorts in Wisconsin. Everything rigged up with garbage parts and faulty labor.
Disgusting.
Showed these pix to my neighbor who is retired IBEW Local 134. He kinda looked, blinked, looked again and then said "un-fucking-believable."

OSHA will not come out on a City jobsite. I called them a few times about City safety issues and they wouldn't come out to the jobsite.
As far as Union labor goes the trades are like your profession in the sense that we have good people and dog asses. It seems like the material used for the jobs gets crappier all the time and more difficult to work with. Unfortunately a lot of material isn't as sturdy or built to last like in the old days.
The conditions appear to be hazardous, especially the electrical. Chances are the fixtures aren't raintight or rainproof being installed indoors.
After seeing the pictures, I'll pass on a tranfer to general services to maintain your buildings.
So do you mean to say that I can ignore my own leaky roof and install some of these? They must meet code if they're on city property, right?
625 N. Albany is 013 dist.

It's still legally up in the air. The politicians who want to change pensions believe they can change "unearned" or prospective benefits. In other words, benefits you will earn in the future. Benefits you have earned already would be safe. If you have a lot of time on the job you probably need not worry as much as a a guy with a couple years.
OT- this deserves it's own string- in the Sun times today...Stroger gave a top aide a $54,000 pay raise...from $176,156 to $239,000- and I really believed we were in dire financial strain....
LOL!!! Wait till you see this.
Remind you of something?

I watched the building engineers installing those catch pans in the mid 90's. I can attest to the fact that those are in the mens locker room in 011, and that the catch pans DO NOT LEAK.

I remember a maintenance worker coming into the locker room in 025 to clean the vents, he opend it up took one look & resealed it, stating this can't be cleaned the whole building should be condemned. True Story...
For once this is a true story I was there 1999. The Building engineer from Property Management.
Someone once said OSHA wouldn't touch the police buildings cause they're municipally owned & insured. Is this true?
OSHA cited Area 5- a true hell-hole - a few years back. There was a lot of mold in the ceiling and other vermin.
The Public, shortshanks and j-fled said, "just shut up, generate some revenue and die quietly and bravely already... you're nothing but a bunch of cops anyway, who cares?"
First responders as second class citizens?
There would be glorified HELL to pay if private citizens had to endure working conditions like this.
You bet your sweet ass most Police stations are bonafide cancer clusters!
That in addition to the God awful stuff, odors and hazards Policemen are exposed to on a daily basis.
PRIME reason Policemen should have been able to retire with a minimum of 20 years at 75%...
But as it is, too many muthafuckahs with the last name of Daley are too busy stealing everything they can from the people who constitute the "thinnest blue line."
It seems they're doing everything to kill coppers off.
Numerous actuarial studies, surveys, polls and such have been done over the years regarding the overall well being of department members. EVERY ONE OF THESE HAS BEEN SUPPRESSED!!
Why?
Because it would validate what Coppers have been screaming bloody fuckin' murder about and the blame for the current state of affairs would be firmly affixed to the current occupant of the 5th floor at city hall!
Remember, nothing is ever HIS fault.
If shorty were perpetrating this well orchestrated chorale of fuckery on actual citizens, the feds would be in his ass like cheap tissue...
But since it's only coppers being done dirty, nobody worthwhile capable of giving a fuck, gives a fuck except us and our family members.

WE are safe for about another 20 years according the the Ill constitution. They voted down a ConCon (Constitution Conference) last year, remember? That Concon would have addressed the Ill pension system and they could have voted on changes to it then. I don't think Madigan would be that stupid to try to change things, the unions would get hot, but hey, you never know.
this has been like this since I came on the job in 2003. Good ol' 011. thanks for posting the pics! It brings back great memories! (of the job and guys I work with, not the shit conditions of the facility)
Understand something the Building engineers are political most come from the (White Alderman) - clout- Only a few have the background the others are backed doored through the engineers union, such as one hand washes the other. WINK-WINK Like the 19 year old building inspector.
We no longer have city janitors making a living wage. But Illegals working for private mob companies who pocked the big cash.
OT. Speaking of crap. Hey 023 you wanna come and get your LT. back from us in 016. Its not funny, come and get him. We will leave him in front of station.

Nope you let him in, he's yours now! Enjoy the blanket district cr's he gets constantly.
Conditions such as the ones in the photos and in the video are abominable. The city building inspectors would call them "DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS" building code violations. (Phrase that Pays) They are unsanitary and structurally unsound. The City evacuated privately owned buildings for these very same violations.
Call Buildings Commissioner Rich Minachio and tell him your tales of these unsafe violations and ask what is he going to do about it.
Someone once said OSHA wouldn't touch the police buildings cause they're municipally owned & insured. Is this true?
Yes true- The state sends an inspector once a year yet he never goes out just does his paper work at headquarters and leaves.

That would not supprise me, but that address sounds like its not even in the 011 district. I think that area is one big factory. I'm getting a hint of bull shit, but I do agree that many of the officers better making arrests based on surveillance and not on "creative writing". I know its great to go eat with your Sergent and act like you like each other, but as soon shit hits the fan, watch how fast he gets away from you. And all the times he let you go home early are not going to mean jack shit. Unfortunately everything is learned the hard way on this job, unless you listen to people with some time on the job, but I'm assuming that you probably think that salty old timers are just lazy. Remember this, old timers have been around the block before you came along.
Time for Federal inspectors to look into the so called minority contractors.
Where does this shit come from- The Money makers are not MINORITY they are front for white guys. Hired truck the buildings are no different Kenny construction- Walsh and others that have changed the name. yet they are white male owned.
WHITE GUYS SOME MOB CONNECTED.

I can say with absolute 100% certainty that this is very true. At this point I cannot say who/what/when/where but believe me when I say this is true, and if job termination is the only discipline these POs receive it will be a miracle! IAD is not a bunch of "morons" like many of those among us believe. They know where the asshole idiot hard charging coppers work and where they fuck up. And the shit part about it is no warning. Whats done is done and lets just say that by working the westside, each and everyone of us was handed a length of rope...question is; DID YOU HANG YOURSELF WITH IT? Glad I retired when I did. God speed, ladies and gentlemen, and best of luck!
IAD has been working in conjunction with certain LIBERAL states attorneys and a certain judge (hint hint SHES in branch 44-2)and waited for these officers who where be watched and who ALWAYS observed 3 similar but separate transactions, scooped the guys on corner and "found" the work, stopping people for no reason and finding in their pockets narcotics blah blah blah....and waited for these officers to testify in court to actually build a case on them.
...
Makes sense that this judge is tossing out every dope case under the sun. Its a common move when judges/States Attys/IAD are working up a case against the boys in blue. Right before the SOS scandal broke guys were scratching their heads at the same thing...and then it all made sense! Not good
o.t. Police work is more than a job, You can get hurt!! If You are a scared, waste of air, paycheck collecting piece of shit , QUIT and get yourself an office job.
Channel 2 6pm news reported - "Chicago police say there was an immediate response to the shooting. But sources say a Chicago police officer was patrolling in her squad car and was alerted by three people who ran out of the store.
The officer turned the corner in her squad car in traffic, getting out with her gun drawn, approaching the store, then re-holstering her gun and getting back in her squad car. She never went in. A sergeant had already gone into the store."
(OEMC cameras capture and time stamp the following 1101-1103hrs more or less)
P.o. stopped in traffic N/b state= female approaches squad car = then 2 males approach the squad= "officer" continues n/b then disappears off camera - 1 minute and 10 seconds AFTER the first hand waiver the female "p.o." finally approaches the store after a sergeant entered. To make things worse = instead of backing up the sergeant =the "p.o." re holsters and back pedals out of there. WTF !!!!!! This department sucks, do not produce any activity -- BUT IF YOU ARE AFRAID TO DO THE JOB PLEASE DO NOT FURTHER PLACE MYSELF OR MY FELLOW OFFICERS, FURTHER IN HARMS WAY. YOU are a disgrace to the badge - only JFLED would be proud
Gentlemen, this is an OSHA violation at the least, it's all a big joke to the coppers working in 11 right now, but in a few years when you have a mold infection in your lungs from the spores in the air it won't be so funny when you are gasping for air when your lungs are closing, call FOP and get the fuck out of the building, where the hell are your union reps? refuse to enter the building and make them relocate you guys, Area 4 building has always been a Shit hole, even when I worked in Special Opperations, The bathrooms wreak of ghetto, stinking like raw sewage, this Homan square building is not much better, I just know that some reporter can get into the building with a concealed camera and expose this. I personally saw the 1st district damage while standing in the hall outside of central detention, it's a mess, This City can't do anyting legit, the b uilding inspectors do a mock inspection at these new buildings while under construction but the won't dare bang the politically connected builder in fears of getting fired by DA MAYOR, whose pals are the builders.

5/07/2010 07:38:00 AM
Yeah I heard the same thing. R&D has been looking into ordering everyone on the department to purchase a new pair of black Saucony gym shoes every 3 months. Because we all know that you can run faster with new gym shoes. And that should alleviate the fast/slow partner situation.
Beats hell out of a good roof.
OT-Sun Times has a photo of Mike Masters on the scene of the Old Navy shooting. Why is a civilian at a crime scene? I'm wondering if anyone call recall another time when civilian admin people were at active crime scenes?
Now, what the the hell is this? (This should be a regular SCC feature.)
We all know that May 5 is a big Mexican holiday.
It is now May 7. I'm still waiting, but so far I have not seen ONE SINGLE SOLITARY MEXICAN FLAG ON DISPLAY ANYWHERE -- not in 025, which is, what, 80% Mexican? -- not in 016, not anywhere else I've been.
I've seen everything there is to see on Cinco de Mayo; groups of bare-chested, drunken young thugs waving Mexican flags and cursing and stoning CTA buses, cars with huge Mexican flags draped over the hood, flying from 2-by-4s stuck out the window as they blow the horn continuously, etc.
This year, nothing. Zip. Nada. Not even a toddler waving a tiny flag on a stick.
It struck me on the way home tonight.
Scared to death of the Census.
Funny watching census-takers go up to some of these houses, tentatively knocking on the door but afraid to do much more. Dark and silent.
You'd think everyone was dead in there, if you hadn't seen them all drinking out on the porch and working on cars under floodlights just a week or two ago...
OT but just wanted to post this somewhere. Today 07may10 FOX news was in 007 dist.setting up a tent and cameras in the parking lot (1000hrs) While at the desk I heard desk personal ask what was going on. The camerman stated they were doing a story about crime in Englewood and in Chicago. I began talking to said camerman and crew and stated here is a story "crime is rising very rapidly around the whole city" I then stated could you please do us a favor and report that crime is up because we are down police (over 2000 not the b.s. 300 numbers they give) and the Mayor will not hire more police. I asked him to report why we are down so many, why no hiring and what the mayor does with the budgeted money for 13500 officers. I then stated you will not investigate or report this, Lets see maybe they will. Also, off to the side I said to the crew (while they left their equipment unattended) wouldn't it be newsworthy if you were doing a story about crime and somebody steals your video equipment? Maybe for the sake of the the citizens and the police you guys can report the real problems and the real numbers.

-No shit 625 N. Albany is in 013! The above statement does not say it is in 011! Doesn't mean they STAY in the 013 District you idiots!! It is there Street Investigation location and im sure they are free to rome where ever they want.

Your right, if IAD is in 013 then there is NO CHANCE that they would leave the 013th District. Dummy.
it's a condensate pan for a piece of mechanical equipment...wtf?
Why do liberals say immigration laws don't work but gun laws do?

Great point!
Another one is they are anti death penalty..but pro abortion. Why?
News Flash:
Neanderthals mated with some modern humans after all and left their imprint in the human genome, a team of biologists has reported after seeing J-Fleds video where he was spooked by gunfire. But while sex between humans and Neanderthals may explain the existence of the controversial supt of police other mysteries remain such as was lying out his ass was a human or neanderthal trait?
i think u guys r missing the whole point about IAD setting up shop in 013. the poster was merely saying thats where they are located, BUT they may be looking at a number of pos in 011...if any of that post is true or not, who knows. i wouldnt put it past them to want to make examples out of a few pos. and that bitch of a judge in br 44 does NOT like the police - ask anyone who has been in her court room. she knows the guys in 011 are documenting all of her no pc cases and have filed a formal complaint with the chief judge...this may be some kind of retaliation on her part.
either way, watch ur p's and q's

WE are safe for about another 20 years according the the Ill constitution. They voted down a ConCon (Constitution Conference) last year, remember? That Concon would have addressed the Ill pension system and they could have voted on changes to it then. I don't think Madigan would be that stupid to try to change things, the unions would get hot, but hey, you never know.
Your Republicans refused to set aside money for your pension.
Think again! I don't like many of the Democrats, Yet they wanted to vote in order to get that money in our fund.
Sorry when it comes to voting to keep my pension (I will vote for the Devil)

Yes, I do. Right after the new HQ opened there was a shooting / murder in one of the projects on State St on days. HQ emptied out. All the big bosses went on a field trip. The most discussing thing to me was Barb McD went to the scene. I do remember a LT telling all of them to back off, and respect the crime scene. The look of astonishment on their faces was priceless as they obeyed the LT. I got out of 002 a short time later, I don’t know what happened to the LT.
God, how thick are you people? I don't work in IAD or on the west side, but I can read.
Reading comprehension skills say:
The base office is on Albany.
The case is in 011.
There. See? Wasn't that easy?

Obviously you don't read too well or you are not the police. If you are the police I'll assume you work inside and not the streets like the rest of us. The purpose of the post was to let the media maybe report that we are down manpower. I guess you don't care and I guess you are satisfied with your piss poor raise. So why don't you fuck off or help out on the streets.
Two things:
1. 625 N. Albany is a factory in 013.
2. Violence in the city has IAD throwing coppers under the bus on lock down. Unless a copper truly fucked himself, they are not looking to build cases on coppers. TRUST ME.
YOU CANNOT GO TO OSHA........
GO TO THE ILLINOIS STATE LABOR BOARD AND FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY HAVE TO INVESTIGATE FOR PROPER/SAFE WORKING QUARTERS.
I know this cuz I did and the city was notifieD/fined and the violations repaired to other city buildings.
Then call the media too.
The pans are Orgone Accumulators. The energy they drain from personnel is collected in a central tank in which the Mayor bathes during the dark of the moon, to help sustain his unnatural life force.
MAYOR DALEY IS CLINICALLY INSANE.
"I was able to read an editorial in the Wed. Chicago Tribune Editorial, that stated, 'statatutory pension rights are not frozen in place for all eternity and may be amended to alter the parties basis - meaning to meaning in the future.'"
Doesn't this require a change in the state constitution? If so, changes such as that require a constitutional convention. A constitutional convention can only be called every ten years, IIRC. The last opportunity for that was the last election. I hope they won't consider a constitutional convention because that will open all kinds of worm cans, such as TERM LIMITS.
Vote 'em ALL out in 2011!

These days, with all the "support" we're receivng from the community and all the "back-up" we're getting from 35th Street, the safe rule to apply to foot pursuits is the VEHICLE PURSUIT POLICY.
If they wouldn't let me chase him in a car for this crime, I won't chase him on foot.
"They don't build 'em like Maxwell Street station any more. Now THAT was a station house. It's no wonder they used it in the opening scene for Hill Street Blues."
That building is still standing! It's UICPD's HQ these days.
I'd be surprised if any of our recent buildings last that long!

Unfortunately, (s)he was probably talking to a cameraman, but you never know.

1. I don't trust you (and no one should)
And
2. You "ass -u -me" way too much.
LUBERMAN used to arrive on some big deals too. Usually, the on duty Street Deputy would shoo him away, and then the real police would get down to business.
My guess is, the few real bosses we have left on what consists of a major city PD today would be hesitant to do that to he that shall be called "Little Shanks,"
for fear of their careers. Leadership by fear seems to be the going thing for CPD for the past year or so...you're either a yes man, or you're history. One would think Masters would have plenty on his plate with his self-proclaimed mission of "leading this Dept. into the 21st century," than to run around outside in matters clearly well above his level of training and expertise.
Foot chase rule? It won't apply to many people. Nobody has a partner anymore. Except, of course, the hoards of mayoral bodyguards.

Isn't this kind of a contradiction? They are so worried for your safety that you have to "run together" but yet you have to work alone on midnights. Another head scratch-er from the morons who graduated from Harvard cough::masters::cough.
Area 5 had the same thing a few years ago. OSHA does not respond it dalls on the Illinois Department of Labor. they came out and took pictures and "tested" the air quality. They gave the City weeks to "clean" it all up. The city did not fix the leaking roof or pipes, they installed hidden pans in the drop ceiling with tubes attached that would drain into strategically placed garbage cans. They removed some water damaged furniture and painted over a few ceiling tiles and they passed the next "test". Everyone filed grievances and were dismissed as having no basis.
