No Bail

  • Before ripping away Chicago police officer Thor Soderberg's handgun and shooting him dead with it, Bryant Brewer, a felon with a long arrest record, inexplicably tried getting inside the last place anyone would expect him to go: a renovated police facility full of cops.

Moments before Soderbergh, an 11-year police veteran, was killed Wednesday, Brewer strolled down 61st Street, screaming and hollering at no one in particular before he tried opening a locked door to the old Englewood police station that now serves as a police deployment center, according to a witness.
Someone appears to be setting up an "insanity" defense for the shithead.

Reinstating the death penalty for cop killers and other heinous criminal acts could be a winning election issue this fall. It's long overdue to start remedying George "convict" Ryan's blatant political moves.

I am tired of hearing soundbites in which family members or friends say the offender has mental problems. We all know they are laying the groundwork for an insanity plea.

These ghetto dwellers are savvy when it comes to the media and criminal justice system. They are schooled on how to play the system by America hating socialists who want to destroy this society.

At least we all have video surveillance in our parking lots. Well, at least Weis thinks we do. Sad.

Everyone should list here how secure the facility that they work in is.
Especially in light of the 003rd Dist/15 yr old incident and now the murder of PO Soderberg. At least the mutt was not able to get into the 61st & Racine building.
What has the department done to secure the facilities that we work in?
Is your department building secure or is it all smoke and mirrors?

Its too bad it had to happen at this time, bryant brewer was attending school to become a famous scientist and only needed 200 more years. He had just gotten past the low hanging fruit picking course and the next subject was going to be the wheel.Cest la vie!

Whether the shooter gets the death penalty, or goes to prison or a mental hospital for the rest of his life is largely irrelevant to me. As long as he is no longer on the street that will satisfy me. I never want to hear his name again

What I would prefer we concentrate on, is the mistakes with the criminal and mental health systems that allowed this guy to be on the street.

He was arrested for shooting his brother, yet wasn't charged or forced into the mental health system? That's bullshit.

That should have been a big fucking indication to the States Attorneys office to either prosecute the guy or get him institutionalized.

Any patrol cop in this city is going to deal with people with varying degrees of mental illness on a near daily basis. I'm not even counting our political or police leadership in that equation.

We need to acknowledge that and redirect law enforcement resources from the drug war to treatment options. Some of those options might be community based, others would involve a secure institution for the dangerously mentally ill.

Some people can be on the street if medicated. Others canNOT be allowed on the street because they are a danger to others.

Stop wasting city money trying to fight the Supreme Court on guns. Stop wasting taxpayers money trying to keep people from using illegal drugs. That is about as successful as trying to get teenage boys to stop whacking off 8 times a day. Twelve times if you were a prodigy like me.

Be honest about what society is and what people are and go from there. Maybe then we can have less police funerals to attend.

Agreed, my brother. But this does initially anyway look like there's a mental health issue.

A lot of them don't get treatment because the state has no money. Too busy giving it to ceasefire, contractors, etc.

I think its sad that one has to change his clothes in the parking lot. These are the little things that the brass does not even think about. It's fine to send people back into the districts for a week at a time but not to provide them with the simple things like a place to change his clothes when he gets there is really sad, or a secure parking facility. I see the new firehouses they build now have fenced in parking what about the police? We always seem to be thought of last. Look at what a difference it made this time...

Still all our district stations are unsecure, unlike
suburban stations Any nut with intent can stroll in & create havoc. No manpower & slight crews at desks,( all preoccupied women). Nobody can really feel safe sitting in there. Is it offensive to do a case report thru a glass window? Walk-Ins should be handled at OEMC or Call Back....thru glass windows. Then eliminate another desk gal.

Wow they finally have the side door to the 007th locked. I worked there 17 years before moving to the new station on 63 and Loomis. The side door was always open and many and any shithead would walk in and linger around the area (Near the roll call room, interview room, and access to lock up where the bullshit gated door would open with a little push. Yea Great Secured stations J-Fed you idiot. Even the new 007 dist station isn't very secure. Keep selling your bullshit to the public Jody. They might believe you but I sure the hell don't. Oh I forgot, you are afraid of the 007 dist Jody!!!!!

During my career, I counted close to FORTY (40) Chicago Police "Line of Duty Deaths" from 1970 thru 1975 alone!
..."It sounds like deja vu all over again!"
I hope I'm wrong in that respect.
To this day I still attend all Chicago Police wakes.
We owe them this honor and respect.

They have to check first with Daley in Sun Valley after his horseback ride to determine services for this hero. Then an announcement will be made. When if ever will it happen were the family's wishes come first rather than the politicians.

SFPD copper here . . . My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Thor sounds like a was a great guy, taken by yet another parasite. Every time I want to bitch about how bad I may have it here, I just think of Chicago and all is put into perspective. Hang tough you guys, many of us with agencies around the country are amazed at the work you do in the environment(s) you do.

Services for Thor Soderberg are private- good for the family that they don't have to endure the fake sympathies of Daley and Weis. Bravo! Have the send off for Thor he would have wanted - not the media circus Weis and Masters would have.

Rest in peace brother Thor.

019 District/Area 3

Parking lot security does NOT exist!

I almost backed over an F/1 student one day backing out of a tight parking spot. Da bitch was cutting through our secure Police lot on the way to Devry with her friends and then had the nerve to mother fuck me like it was my fault for not seeing the dumb bitches walking through our lovely police lot!

After the incident, these F/1 scholars ran out of the parking lot like herd of buffaloes!

Students from both Devry and Lane Tech walk through the 019 District lot like it is a Wal-Mart parking lot!

In closing, Don't do nothing and go home safe!

P.S. Vote Mayor Daley out 2011

The Area 3 complex is state of the art in police security circa 1975.

A safety complaint was filed several years ago and promptly shitcanned.

Even if a safety complaint is sustained (very few are) the city does not have to abide by the results. In short, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on or the time to fill them out.

What is worth doing is to take a bunch of pictures to go with a short typed explanation and email those to SCC at sccmaillist@yahoo.com

More results through SCC than all safety complaints combined.
