Officer Grazed Wednesday

  • A Chicago police officer was grazed by a bullet during a shooting Wednesday afternoon. It happened on the city's Far South Side.

The incident ended near 120th and Justine, but it is still unclear how it began. It appears to have been sparked by a confrontation between police and a few suspects.

The confrontation apparently happened early Wednesday afternoon near 112th and State. According to witnesses, there were about three people in a car that was followed by several squad cars, and at one point after this confrontation, witnesses say, the suspects were leaning out of the car, shooting at police. Officers returned fire, and in this gunfire, one officer was grazed in the shoulder.

Sorry we missed this one, but we spent most of the day at a local hospital for some reason or another. To the unpublished asshat who has no interest in anything but a very narrow slice of life, try getting out a little more and experiencing life and not telling us how to run our hobby.

I was amazed that the media published it as "police returned fire" instead of that "poor bad guy/victim" slant they usually put on things.

W.Z., if you're reading this, get well soon, rest that ankle, and TAKE YOUR TIME coming back.

Per WGN TV, 6am news, 2 shot and killed and 11 others shot last night from 23:00 on.

But crime is down from 20 years ago. I'm sure that makes all victims thankful.

The excerpt made it sound like it was during the police returning fire that the office was grazed. That made it sound like "friendly fire" could have wounded him. If he was wounded by scumbag fire, the author should have just said so.
