Thanks to everyone who provided us with the offending quote. Here's the Channel 2 version:
- He says, “I’ve had to realize there’s a small segment of the (police) population that, if I gave them a gold brick, they’d complain how heavy it is”.
The Tribune also caught it, but the Tribune offers the entire quote and it truly shows what an asshole J-Fled is:
- Weis himself acknowledged some in the department will never be happy with him even "if I gave them a brick of gold. …These folks would complain about whoever is superintendent because that's easier than taking an introspective look into their own lives."
Really Mr. Weis? Seriously? "...easier than taking an introspective look into their own lives."
How about the Morale Survey Mr. Weis? Would that have qualified as "taking an introspective look" into your leadership? Your abilities? Or lack thereof? A little introspection goes a long way Mr. Weis.
How about you get off your high horse and release the results of the Morale Survey from over two years ago. Find out what the rank and file said. Let's see if it really was as damning as we all know it was. But then you might have to explain why your big mouth wrote a check your ego couldn't cash when you offered to resign if you were the cause of low morale, right? Everyone would see you for the two-faced prick we all feared you would be from day one.
But you still ran right out and proved that one, even with out the survey results, didn't you? Promoting bartenders, sexual harassers, screaming incompetents, anyone with any sort of phone call and callous disregard for the men and women working the trenches. How many reorganizations did you preside over, moving people from one spot to another, never improving anything and steadily eroding any sort of confidence in the command structure. How's that working out for you now?
And the overt act of cowardice in Englewood. You will never ever live that one down. Men and women running toward gunfire while you get driven away. Excuses about "forgot your vest" would get us suspended for days. Excuses about "scene was under control" show a complete ignorance about shooting scenes. Chicago cops are human bullshit detectors Mr. Weis. We can smell it miles away, and you reeked of it.
You are a tiny man J-Fled. Your reign is coming to an end and we cannot say it enough, but it will be a damn fine day when you are gone. You have set the bar by which all future superintendents shall be judged and suffice it to say, for the duration of our careers, we believe every single one of them will surpass you, probably within the first week.

* I NEVER had the audacity to try and pacify a department full of police officers that possess common sense, "street smarts" and college degrees with an endless stream of bullshit "transparency" promises and token gestures.
In short, I sleep very well at night knowing that I'm not some $310K-per-annum soulless puppet that is despised by thousands and thousands of men and women on whose ass I couldn't be a pimple.
Contrarily, I possess pride, integrity, courage, compassion, ethics and clear conscience...character traits and attributes you lost somewhere along the road of life. Come to think of it, you may never even had possessed these things to begin with.

SCC, I think that EVERYONE who is going to march should bring with them a big, empty box....with the name of either WEIS, MASTERS, ASST. SUPTS. or DEPUTY SUPTS. written across the sides in bold letters. If we are going to march at headquarters, at the end of the march, every protester should stack those boxes up..at the entrances to Headquarters!
