Welcome to Our World

  • The president of the Dallas Police Association, Glenn White, is concerned that new information officers have to provide on traffic tickets could come back and haunt them.

The Dallas Police Department is now requiring officers to answer a question on the traffic ticket that reads “Race known prior to stop?” The patrol officer has to check yes or no when he stops the traffic violator.

Dallas police spokesman LT. C.L Williams says, “New state law requires us to collect the information. We have no idea how the state plans to use it.” According to Williams, the information is not being collected to use against the patrol officers. The DPA president isn’t convinced.

White recalls, “Eight years ago the department spent 3 million dollars on GPS systems for the squad cars. The police chief at the time said the GPS was for the safety of the officers and would not be used against the officers. Eventually they started using it to discipline officers.”

Oh yeah, we've were told the same thing about the Traffic Stop Safety Study Statistical Silliness Something Something Something (TSSSSSSSS) how many years ago? The Obama cards. Four years ago now? The state collected all this data, and when it showed that police stop vehicles for the infraction, not for the driver, they decided to extend the TSSSSSSSS until such time as they could prove racial profiling existed where none could be found.

We were also been told the GPS is for safety, so we can probably assume it will go exactly the way it's currently going in Dallas.

Mayor Shanks, are you going to purchase a gun after you lose your security army that you have had since birth? Jane Byrne didn't need security. I know you will need a GPS, you have never had to drive anywhere. You will have to learn how a car door opens, how an umbrella works,Rules of the Road, You will have to buy a car, learn to gas it up with the highest prices in the nation and pay for parking (highest in the nation) or you can ride with Burke.

You are painfully naive if you believe the dictator will lose his police security/errand-runners once he's out of office. It will NEVER happen. He may lose a few, but he will always have a detail.

My Sergeant showed me the program at the front desk that displays the GPS map. With the "keep eye on" command, a big red circle will be put around your squad as you travel around. Please note that the command is not, " find this guy, we have to help him", it's " Keep Eye On".

Yes, it's all for officer safety.

Not to be all lawyer-ish here but the subjective intent of the officer doesn't matter. As long as there is a legit reason for pulling somebody over the stop will be upheld.

Not only that, I'm sure you can expect the next guy to lavish himself with the same comfy detail for himself, the wife an the kids. Daley set the precedent, and the shooting of the Congresswoman in Arizona will help to justify this behavior nationwide. Danny Davis is already crying about some threats. It wouldn't surprise me if Obama directed the Secret Service to start a Security Detail for ALL members of Congress and their families!

First off why would you trick bag yourself like that? Eskimo or whitey, how the fuck are your moron supervisors gonna know that wasn't what you first perceived your stop as?

Hmmmm! Years ago, when cameras were to become standard equipment in our squads, a female Deputy came to roll-calls and told us , after a lot of hyperbole, that this would curtail alot of "off-duty" Police and Firemen, from pulling their shennanigans...I raised my hand and asked her, "what has that got to do with Officer Safety? and she responded, "you know exactly what I mean" So, from the inception, to the implementation of this "modern Policing" tool.....It has NOT been Officer Safety as the main focus..but as a side "plus"......It has some possible plusses, when accusations of misconduct, can been defended by video/oral recording, but to blatantly state that off duty conduct comes into play, is an insult to ALL working Police, everywhere. This roll-call training, I believe, was intended to intimidate and imply, that we MUST inform on our Brothers and Sisters, from Police and Fire,if we observe anything unusual about their behavior when we encounter them on a stop...nothing was said about civilian conduct, nor were we allowed any further questions!..so welcome to our world indeed!!

Notice how it asks did you know the race prior to the stop? If you can't figure out a way around that you don't deserve to be the police.

I don't get it why only sgt. or above has access to gps data. If it's all legit who come we can't look where everybody's at? This thing should be on pdt too (makes sense to know where somebody is that needs help ) but we work for this lovely city so i will just stop typing......

The traffic cards are statistically invalid on their face. If you stop an arab, you have to list him as caucasian. There is no category for middle eastern descent. An indian is listed as oriental, same as vietnamese or chinese. Cincinnati did a similar study a few years ago, collected hundreds of thousands of cards, put them in a box and forgot about it. Didn't want to waste money processing and producing a flawed study with methodology that would have been laughed out of a high school statistics class. Ours is worse.

I am a dispatcher and wanted to comment on GPS. I know there are negative feelings surrounding the use of the system and rightfully so. But the good outweighed the bad in this situation.

I had an officer screaming "10-1!" over the radio. There was an obvious struggle going on and I couldn't get any further info from her. She had her GPS activated and I was able to find out where she was and give her location out. If the GPS had not been working - as is often the case, I wouldn't have been able to get help to her until she was able to tell me where she was. The offender who tried to disarm her outside of her vehicle was caught about 20 minutes later.

GPS- Got into a foot chase after a PSMV offender bailed into a northwest side district. I'm a south-sider and at the time was not familiar with north side streets. I stopped my car right behind the stolen car in an alley and chased. Dispatcher didn't know where we were at. I asked for her to find us with GPS, she couldn't. (At the time). They couldn't find me at the time I needed to be found but a Lt. found me (hours later). That just proved to me that GPS is not for "Officer safety" but there to track where've you been.

When you discuss race in terms of anything other than discrimination, say in terms of intelligence or proneness to criminality the liberal responds "race does not exist, it is a social construct," but when it comes to doling out cash, giving extra points for job hiring or promotion, or claiming discrimination, race is apparently a very legitimate concept.

These cards were invented to prevent Police Racail Profiling. You know we all stop people for driving while black. It doesn't matter how often you prove that it just doesn't happen anymore, the Community Activists just know it does! But then, they know quite a few things that just aren't so... How are you supposed to know the race of a driver at night? In a car that is 100 feet or more away? The media and these people with axes to grind just keep repeating it so often, the general public begins to believe it might be so.

Hours later? I know they say us south siders can't read and that's why we have numbered streets. But how about looking for a street sign and sounding it out?

Either that or you're completely full of shit.

"Hours later"???? Please tell me that you're exaggerating. If not, you're a freakin moron!

GPS: We can all access the GPS. Any computer in the station should pull it up. I've done it before. I'd tell you exactly where to click, but I would have to have the computer in front of me to refresh my memory. The PDTs in the cars cannot pull up the GPS. Its only land-based computers.

The traffic stop statistical study has been going on for longer than 4 years! I'd say it's closer to 8 or 9 years. I believe it was supposed to last for 5 years. When the 5 years was up, the liberals didn't get the results they were hoping for and decided to continue the study indefinitely until the desired results were achieved. Good luck a**holes!!

Sue if you get hurt and cant be found, the GPS should be on the Officer, not their assigned car, thats negligence, after being told it was for Officers safety, which it obviously ain't...another lie by CPD-Daley.

Look how many people work in that racial profiling statistics office down state? One!....I am sure those stats are hard at work.

Oh by the way? Which moron in the Cook co. government decided to print "place sticker here" instead of just printing the stupid check boxes on the back of the tickets?

MORE COUNTY MONEY WASTED!

This reminds me of a poster made in the 10th District when the study cards first came out.

It said that you marked down what the thought the race of the driver was when you first pulled it over.

Next to that was the the famous LAPD mug shot of MICHAEL JACKSON.

Stay safe, Go figure.
