FOP Pushing Hard for Chico

  • There will be a First Responders Rally for Mayoral Candidate Gery Chico on Wednesday, February 9th. The rally will take place at 115 Bourbon Street from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Come out and meet and greet one on one with our next Mayor. Tell, text, or just bring your friends.
A comment said that tickets were $25 and of that, $10 was headed to one of the Police Memorial Funds, but the FOP site doesn't say which one. Can anyone verify?

Also, this one:
  • Come out and support the FOP endorsed candidate for the Mayor of the City of Chicago, Gery Chico.

The Lodge will be hosting a phone bank at the FOP Hall to support Gery Chico's campaign for Mayor. This event will take place on Thursday, February 10th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

All members are invited to volunteer and attend this event. Refreshments will be served. Please contact Mary Pat at 312-733-7776 to volunteer.
Whatever it takes to get Chico into the runoff.

Can't even get cops to vote. Do you think they will donate time or money? Sad but true. That's why the police endorsement doesn't carry much weight.

And, no matter who wins, if you do not see dramatic changes in our pension fund, it will go away for everybody. Remember what someone said about a politicians promises, they are like a cigarette package, easy to see thru and made to be broken.

Be careful what you wish for...

You didn't like Devine and you got Alvarez
You didn't like Daley and...

Sadly, Carol Mosley Braun was the only one to say out loud what is pretty obvious:
No residency, Chicago loses its Middle Class
No Middle Class, no one to pay taxes "to support the community'
No taxes, no paycheck or pensions
No paycheck or pension you lose that shiny new suburban house

All the choices S**K, but think long and hard before you decide

I have called to say I will help with the phone bank on Thursday. You must use your own phone so bring the charger. You can stay for as long as you want and I suggest that you read up on Chico because, from experience, people you call will sometimes ask questions about his stand on things or background. We want to be fully knowledgable as you should be for any candidate. That was where people went wrong with Obama. They didn't study his lack of background.

So you want us to work for the least about possible? Screw you Rahm! Of course, people in this city will fall for it. He will win because the people of this city are just that clueless. Look at how long they re elected Daley.

He wants to cut our compensation( salary etc.), reduce our pensions and I'm sure some other things he hasn't said yet. NO, IT ISN'T A STATE LAW. A state law ALLOWS Chicago (any municipality with over a certain population, which only Chicago fulfills) to do this under Home Rule.

In other words, if the mayor of Chicago decrees we live in the city, we do, because state law PERMITS it. If Chicago no longer requires us to live in the city, there is no state law that REQUIRES us to live in the city.

I watched Chicago Hope tonight, mostly okay but a few of their techniques made me cringe.

Even so, I still love Jennifer Beals- she definitely is NOT J-Fled.

This was the dumbest thing I ever heard and how Chico lost my vote. We have no dome so why would the Superbowl ever be in Chicago; he said he'd "add" a thousand police officers (but over what time period); and he's going to look at residency? We've had enough people looking at crap, we need some action! Just say no to Chico!

2/07/2011 04:59:00 PM

and what is the rahmbutter, a pauper, raised on the mean streets of Wilmette, cut his teeth dancing with girls, honed, to a razor sharpness, his manhood by maintaining equipment in Israel, developed his keen sense of political manipulations with the clintons, via his mentor, the axelrod, and now is presenting himself, in all his glory, to the fine citizens of our city, as the 9 1/2 fingered version of the messiah.

does that about cover it?

Speaking of residencey? Why cant there be a 20 yr residencey rule. After 20 yrs you can then move out of the city since your staring to make plans for retirement and a new life outside of this job. The city gets 20 yrs of residencey and then we can leave if we like. Any thoughts?

2/07/2011 11:55:00 AM

My suggestion is that if you can't spell residency properly you have to stay in the city limits.

To: Politicians promises are like cigarette packaging, easy to see thru, and made to be broken.

Very True but Ramh is promising to go after our pensions and Chic is promising to lose residency. Which one can you afford?

To: FOP screwed the pooch again. You think you'll get a BETTER deal from Rahm after endorsing Chico?

Maybe you were not on when Rahm had 017 District Sgt his family in his commercials. The reward for a uniformed officer's backing him is his promise to go after our pensions. With friends like Rahm I don't need enemies!

Chico can't get rid of residency. It is a state law. -
You may be wrong on this
I believe the city has the same type exemption as it did with smoking ban 500,000. plus population can opt out from under law.

Mr residency rule.
I like that idea but cut it in half 10 or 15 years after vested nether party has much to lose.

Be Safe

No one is trying to put down the tradesmen or divide the city employees. But the unions have been using thier clout and money to get pay and benefits far in excess of what private industry pays the same ski8lls. And, many people hold these tradesmen job titles that do not do the work that the job title calls for. I just do not believe that any other city does this. The taxpayers would not put up with it. If all of the city pensin funds get the same funding state law passed for their pensions without changes for those still working, it will add almost 2000 to you property taxes each year. Do you really think that this is going to fly? The city is going broke, fast.

Speaking of residencey? Why cant there be a 20 yr residencey ....

Yes, legally it's called creating a separate class. It isn't legal and it would be even worse of a mes

Moron, show me the state statute where the city cannot dictate the grounds of residency. State authorized the city to effect residency and decide for itself (the city) who can work and live in the city. FACT: City could do what was stated above, let 20year vets move out if they so decided. Why do ppl continue to defend this machine?? gotta be outsiders.
