That's More Like It

  • Chicago saw a spate of shootings and a fatal stabbing overnight, a more typical night of violence in the city after a 60-hour lull that ended early Friday.

The 2½ day streak without a shooting in the city ended about 1:40 a.m. Friday when a 47-year-old South Side man was shot in a robbery over a snowblower and cash.

Friday night and early today, two people were shot to death and a third fatally stabbed, according to police.

The story actually lists 3 shot to death and another stabbed, but when has accuracy ever mattered to the media?

The Crystal Ball Unit missed all four of these, but the "Innie-Outtie Task Force" has determined that one shooting was inside, two outside and the stabbing was a "half-and-half" since he was stabbed at a card game but ran outside to expire.

I think it speaks volumes of the liberal papers when you can print the phrase "a more typical night of violence" and it's just considered acceptable.

Disgusting.

I listened to J-Fed Friday on the Roe and Roeper show, he's on so much they should just call it the Roe, Roeper and Fed show.

He was really defending the Tahoe purchase, after all, they work for the FBI and other Fed LE agencies so well, and that (essentially) all of us who work for him are chronic complainers.

He paid the mandatory lip service about how hard we all worked, but you could tell, that he is full of contempt for all of us, even his white shirts and command staff.

Just for a change of pace from the usual murder, mayhem and madness:

Man Tries to Remove Insect From Ear With Vacuum

Published January 27, 2011

A British man ended up in the emergency room after his attempts to suck a moth out of his ear with a vacuum cleaner failed.

Jay Chinn, 40, was watching television when a moth flew into his ear and became lodged in his eardrum, the Daily Mail reported.

“I couldn't quite believe it at first, but I could hear it buzzing away in my ear. It was really loud, like having something flapping around inside your head,” he told the paper. “I bent over and shook my head about, I held my nose and blew as I hard as I could, but it just wouldn't come out.”

Chinn spent an hour trying to dislodge the insect with a toothpick before attempting to suck it out with a vacuum cleaner – but nothing worked.

He finally went to the emergency room at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, England, where doctors used a surgical vacuum to remove the moth from his ear canal.

“It was really painful because it was right down on my eardrum, but it came out in the end,” he said.

Chinn said his hearing has fully recovered and the only injury he sustained was a scratch from the toothpick.

Do you think maybe some of our bosses suffer from that? A loud buzzing in their ears, they ought to try a vacuum cleaner, just stick it right up to their ear and turn it on high. Couldn't hurt. Might be an improvement.

No word on the condition of the moth.

Some Rahm campaign workers were whooping it up in The Yardhouse bar in Glenview last night. Overheard them laughing their asses off, joking that Rahm probably promised Moseley-Braun that he'd pay her water bill to act like a shithead and throw the race. It was pretty funny to listen to.

Can someone explain how the news is reporting violence is down in january? Yet the city has six more murders this year over last. I know reporters are stupid. But come on even this one sinks to a new low of stupidity. The best is jfled concurs. Stupid minds think alike I guess.

Homicides are not a violent crimes in Chicago anymore like auto thefts are not thefts.

See we have this new MBA style of counting that type of stuff.

In the corporate world the term used to describe the manipulation is call "pro-forma" results.

Pro-forma, it means as-if. We take all the bad, negative things that we do not like out of the numbers being reported and pretend like they never happen. At the bottom of the report in fine print we say this report is pro-forma and millions of Americans scratch their heads and wonder what it means..

Anyways...here's the latest Chicago crime stats...

---clip-----

Today Chicago Police released preliminary monthly crime statistics for the month of January.

The Department reported that violent crime dropped 10.2 percent and property crime dropped 10.7 percent.

In total, overall index crime decreased by 10.6 percent compared to January of 2010. This drop in crime marks the 25th consecutive month of reductions of overall crime in Chicago.

There was an increase in the number of homicides in January 2011, a total of 28 compared to 22 last year. Superintendent Weis also pointed out the devastating effect guns have in the city of Chicago. The majority of the homicides in January, nearly 72% of the total, were committed with a firearm.

Every other category of violent crime decreased by double-digits. Criminal Sexual Assaults showed the greatest reduction among violent crimes with a drop of 13 percent. Aggravated Assaults and Aggravated Batteries declined by 11.3 and 10.1 percent, respectively. Incidents of Robbery dropped 10.4 percent. Property Crime showed reductions in every category of property index offenses except for Motor Vehicle Theft. Theft dropped by 20.7 percent while Burglary and Arson showed 6.0 and 4.7 percent decreases, respectively. Motor Vehicle Theft was up by 21.8 percent against the same time frame last year.

Via >> http://www.hispanicallyspeakingnews.com/has-oido/details/chicago-police-report-double-digit-reduction-in-most-crimes/5037/

=== end clip ===

See that!

If you take out the 27% increase in homicides in Jan -- 28 this year vs 22 last year -- then you can say violent crime decreased.

And if you take out the 21.8& increase in auto thefts for Jan 2011 then you can report property crimes are down.

You can further obfuscate the data by using labels that are subject to interpretation like "overall indexed crime". WTF is an "index crime"?

Nice try jackasses.

Then shift the readers attention to guns... but as you know J-fled firearms are like Abrams M-1 tanks in a way. In some conditions you could place a total band on firearms and you will not move forward on stopping the violence.

It's been said that when the only tool that you have in a tool box is a hammer -- everything looks like a nail.

Ok guys and girls, use your heads and 3m could be YOUR toy. Whenever 3m is driving around in the District you need to pass a code word so everyone knows. It used to be a quick call over the air, "Squad can we have a time check in 018," whenever an inspector was prowling in the District, then everyone knew. And, if you know, you can then easily keep yourselves down on legitimate assignments, hand waivers, street stops, one baggers etc. so that no one is available for the send me a car call. Sorry 3m, they’re all down on assignments, and he can either take the appropriate enforcement action which we know he won’t (CAN’T, don’t know how), or release the poor subject who was temporarily exposed to his stupidity. If you’re not down on an assignment and you don’t answer up to partake in his nonsense you’ll either have to find a quick unavoidable TVB (which is easily defeatable by a supervisor, and most times, a clear indication of game play) or go and take over and justify his attempt to play big boy police. Your activity is easily traceable on the computer and easy to track. You can’t “not hear the radio,” so while he and his cronies are there you have to be proactive. If you do end up with his (their) arrest or traffic violator I strongly suggest that he and his cronies, I mean partners, be put in the witness box on the tickets and as arresting officers on the arrest report. You may be saddled with the processing of the prisoner, but they are the official sworn arresting officer(s), the first eyewitness and SHOULD be receiving a record number on their court notifications.
I know it takes balls, but you will be completely correct and nothing can be done. It’s legitimate, it’s appropriate and it’s lawfully required. After a few court notifications or better yet appearances his nonsense might stop. We all know he’s not going to 007, 011, 006 or anywhere else he might actually encounter the animal in their habitat, so a quick flip to the other radio zone he’s heading to would be appreciated by all. This guy is a fool, but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s dangerous and will hurt you, both out of stupidity and out of spite. He’s arrogant and untouchable and he knows it. But also, that is a “for-now” condition and he won’t ride high forever. He may soon be a thing of the past, I would almost guarantee it, but for now you do have the ability to beat him and to do so within the system he is playing within; the one he pretends to know. And, before you ask, no I don’t expect any court deviation to pose a problem for him, but I would expect a phone call or two relaying that his appearance is required for the hearing or trial of some goof YOU found reason to lodge a felony charge on, one that YOU can convince the ASA needs to go to trail so the pooch can be sent back to prison would force him to court to testify.…. Get it? His testimony would be a great show to see-- Another pack the courtroom occasion!
Be smart, use your heads and you can be legit while YOU screw with him (them). It’s the same scenario when you take a shoplifter from store security, the trespasser from building security or the turnstile jumper from CTA security. You process, that’s it. The nonsense will stop if you cause it to!

(and we all know this dumbass doesn't have the balls to patrol any district south of 001), if you know this idiot is out trolling your respective district(s) for trouble, make yourselves UNAVAILABLE to assist him and any of his idiotic feeble minded followers! Find something to do, and take an event number to 'do your investigation.' Don't get caught up in a bunch of street nonsense initiated by a silver spooned CIVILIAN who didn't even take the time to attend your own Chicago Police Academy to obtain legitimate 'sworn' credentials.

Pro forma, "for the sake of form." We feel obliged to issue forth with some sort of bundle of paper -- meaningless though it may be -- so we can point to it as "product of our hard work" when we put through next year's budget and ask for raises all around.

It's a wheelbarrow full of sand with a five-pound bag of Domino spread carefully on top. Look! Look at all the sugar we produced!
