Hired Truck All Over?
The federal sentencing hearing Thursday of ex-Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Al Sanchez meant 2 1/2-years in prison for the onetime city official.
It prompted opinions over this week’s disaster on Lake Shore Drive as well as a hiring scheme that has gone on in the city for decades.
But it also did something else.
It ended a seven-year run of federal prosecutions into city hall that began with the Hired Truck scandal in 2004.
Sanchez was the very last defendant to be prosecuted as part of a hiring scandal that grew out of the Hired Truck probe. Prosecutions were prompted by a Chicago Sun-Times investigation in 2004.
Funny that the whole thing ends just a day or two after one of the larger displays of incompetence by the City government and the last guy sentenced is the last guy who actually seemed to keep the streets clear and make Shortshanks look good. Way to fall on the sword for a thankless leader there Al.

Until people are looking at double digits no one will rat. Why would you? Its like Henry Hill said. Only guys that want to go to jail actually go. You go away for a couple years to minimum security, work out come back in good shape and get a nice cushy job from someone who you took care of prior to going away. See the city does work. At least for the chosen few.

Most assuredly he took a cue from Rober Sorich. If it's a choice between jail time & your family being taken out? Given the circumstances, he made the right decision.

The street-cop in Chicago though imperfect, is a veritable paragon of law enforcement virtue versus the underperforming armed accountants who have let Daley inc. metastasize into a Stage IV cancer.
They'll trot out the occasional underling/flunky for public sacrifice to lend the appearance of "fighting corruption."
Fuckery in furtherance and purely for the sake thereof...

Is that right? Well, how many politicians has the State's Attorney indicted in the last 10 years? How many politicians has CPD arrested since shortshanks took over? How many were brought up on charges by the IG, or arrested by the State Police? The only one I can think of is Dixon, and she got everything dropped. Face it, they may not be much, but if it wasn't for them, the rats would be running rampant. The problem is with the federal judges and their touchy-feely sentencing. Face it, the feds are all you've got.

Yes, keep your mouth shut, do not implicate anyone else, deny everything, get convicted, spend a few years in the federal slammer ( no need to worry about the county or state prosecutor, they are in on it). When you get out, a job will be waiting for you at McCormick place, Navy Pier, maybe another govt. agency or in a connected private company. this has happended time adn time again. The only thing that will make these bugs testify is a long prison sentence, something which they do not get, for some reason. 2.5 years/ It should have been 10 years. He would have talked then.

UM, in case you didn't know, the FEDS are the ones who are suppose to arrest and charge political corruption. Those are FEDERAL STATUTES, not state statutes. Therefore, CPD, ISP and ASA's don't charge and arrest them. You know, kinda like how CPD can't arrest and enforce immigration laws (They are FEDERAL LAWS). If the FEDS are all we got then apparently they aren't doing there jobs because this is the most politically corrupt city and state in the USA. So relax FED boy and study up on your case law!!! If you're local PD then you might want to know what laws you can and can't enforce because I guarantee the FEDS wouldn't have any problem sending you to Club FED.
I predict now that Crookago will burn this summer.

Yes, the feds investigte ,indict and take to trial people, politicians, on federal laws. And, yes, the city, or state cannot arrest people on federal laws. The commentator was right on about that. But, there are numerous state laws that can be used to prosecute politicians. The question you need to ask yourself, is why do they not do this? There were numerous cases of documented fraud regarding the state legislators use of free tuition to state schools. Madigan should investigate this and call a grand jury. She did not. Ask yourself why?

You just don't get it do you. They have no choice all those guys would have the family taken out, however because they went to jail the mortgage and all the bills are paid for. The mob is always involved. Also they did not fall on a sword they participated in the corruption they were players. One day you may get it, I wouldn't bet on it.
