Sox Win, Cubs Lose

We can hardly imagine a 14-0 lead turning into a nail biter, but the Sox managed it:
  • Dunn homered and had four RBIs in his debut for Chicago, and Carlos Quentin homered and drove in five as the go-for-broke White Sox built a huge lead and held off Cleveland's scrappy comeback, beating the Indians 15-10 in their season opener Friday.
  • New year, same old Cubs.

The North Side squad opened their season with a thud, Friday, losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3.

Only 161 more games to go!

Ah, how can the Cubs possibly be a winning team unless Ricketts gets the loans he insists he needs to keep the ballpark open?

"The Wrigley Life" . .

This is the Cubs slogan this year that they are pushing on WGN Radio.

It's sad but true...
it has nothing to do with winning ball games. Just drinking like idiots and bar hopping on the North side including Wrigley Field.

Does anyone know the score Buffy?
Did the Cubbies score a touchdown?

Pathetic.

A day where the Sox win and the Cubs lose counts as two wins.

You could have said the Sox pounded the ball instead of being negative about a great WIN.

the cubbies should have inked robert redford for a couple of weeks---- they could use his stick in the line up---- as bad as the cubbies are they still will put close to 2 million in the seats and sell enough budweiser to keep the state of rhode island drunk for a year....

Typical Sox fan. Cannot be happy with the win. Complains about how it's reported. Negative? Jeez.....a win's a win......whether it's 14-0 or 15-10.

Ahhhhhhh, good to see the White Sox returning to a heavy reliance on the home run and a Bullpen devoid of effective middle relievers. What was old is new again. Just what the fuck is "Ozzie - ball?"

"...you've been: THUNDER - STRUCK!!!"

the hawks pulled a rabbit out of their hat last night in columbus--- bickell snapped one off and the goalie misplayed it resulting in a 3-3 tie with 5 minutes to go in the third--- the hawks send staalberg to the cage as their third shooter in shoot out and he scores---- we are still baffled by this one as staalberg does not have the most accurate shot, but he got the job done--- quenny took a chance with staalberg instead of going with his 12 million dollar man (hossa) as the third shooter--- an important 2 points in a chase to make the playoffs which might go down to the last game....

I never heard of this. Does Chicago have another team other than the Sox? Is it some sort of team just for the wine and cheeze crowd on north Broadway?

I predict a World Series this year on the southside. On the northside, another "wait till next year". When it is a dark, dismal, rainy day for the Cubs home opener and they lose, that should tell you how the rest of the season will go.You heard it here first.

If any cub fan thinks that the cubs will improve under this new owner is dreaming. Its all bells and whistles, the club sucks. Just keep going to historic Wrigley, blow your money on beer, enjoy the yuppie atmosphere. But this team is bad. Ramirez, Soriano alone make more in salary than the whole pirate team. (Which they cant beat)And Silva is sent packing with 11 million. Ticket prices keep rising as the product on the field decreases.

What a pathetic Cubs opening day. Since it was Santo dedicated why not the family throw out the first pitch?

Oh, because they needed
Redford hawking his movie that is produced by a company owned by the Ricketts family.

Go 2005 World Series Champions Chicago White Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to all fellow cpd members and people who follow this blog i want to ask if you could all possibly donate to help find the cure for sf disease. sf stands for sox fan disease. Its a horrible virus that shrinks your brain and turns you into a hillbilly trailer trash white sox fan with a big mouth , no knowledge of baseball and this unrelenting cub jealousy they display. even if they sox win the fans only care about what the cubs do ..... pathetic isn't it?
you can help, please donate what you can to end this TERRIBLE disease of the weak minded trolls known as sf sufferers.
thank you.

Hawk Harrelson is a pain in the ass. I love this website. Sick of his bullshit catchphrases every year. Turn on the game, hit mute, crank up the ipod. The only way to watch a sox game on TV. GO SOX!!!

Sox fan all my life. Occasional trips made to Wrigley(love the old parks). Went to Cubs game Saturday for the 1st time in 5 years.

What the fuck is this shit of facebooking at the ball game? Watched 2 women trying to get 2 guys attention. The guys had no clue these women were scoping them. I'd bet 10% of the people there are really paying attention to the game. Pathetic.
