And Speaking of the Outfit....

We were reading the Sun Times article about Daley's name appearing in the Duff files around twenty times. The article also noted the elder Duff testified on behalf of Tony "Big Tuna" Accardo back in 1960. That's when we recalled that Accardo's nickname wasn't always "Big Tuna."

Before there was "Big Tuna," there was "Joe Batters."

And we had a brainstorm that might solve Daley's desire to have bodyguards long after he's out of office.

Pay Patrick. He proved himself to be a dab hand with a baseball bat in Michigan. Have Daddy increase his allowance to included bodyguard work. It's be the first time in a few generations that a Daley actually earned his keep doing something that he was qualified to do.

At the very least, the city saves $2 million a year.

hey SCC

Is that CPD security detail considered a taxable benefit? Shouldn't shit-shanks be paying income tax on that??

Somebody beat me to that in earlier comments. If Daley wants protection, tell him to have Patrick "Batters" and "Iron Hands" Vanecko keep an eye out for him. Both are proven combatants.

Would Shortshankes getting body gaurds be a big enough slap in the face to the people of IL. to help get HB148 passed? If citizen Daley is afraid of being out in public without bodygaurds what about the rest of us.

For you citizens that observe these news trucks ILLEGALLY PARKED while you have to feed the meters, call 911 and request a squad car to write thee news trucks. OT- what's with the crazy captain in 019 who is running the 3 watch? Dropped a prisoner off yesterday and saw their sheets... 11 one man cars with 7 bike patrol officers? And the sheets for the next day 13 one man cars with 9 bike officers? I know 019 is a cake district but that's a lot of needless one man cars, she must be a tree hugger and wants her officers to not burn gas

Please get it straight,, :)

Vanecko 17 at the time, later involved in an fight on Rush St that did lead to a death, pointed a 20-Gauge shot gun at a small crowd of teenagers while Mark LAwler, a classmate of Patrick Daley wacked a 15 year old in the head with a baseball bat.

Patrick did what his father did before him, live off his daddy and let other people do his dirty work for him. He is afterall a Daley.

We should get him two pope-mobiles too on the taxpayers dime -- the governor has money to burn right?!

In fact we should do like an Oprah and give the entire Shortshank clan cars on the taxpayers dime.

You know..You get a car....and you get a car, and you get a car. You all get cars. Yaaaaay!!! Woo-hoo.

Thank you Oprah..

$100 million to Motorola, $19 Millions to Continental Tire, Sears had a $240 million tax break...can you believe it... almost a quarter of a billion dollars over the last 22 years from the hostage negotiations that Sears pulled off the last time that they held jobs hostage.

Wonder how much Quinn will hand out to Sears in corporate welfare payments this time around?

Middle class taxpaying bag holders with the corporations getting free rides. Yeah that's like Oprah too. You get a tax break... and you get a tax break.

We should create a new third political party and name it "O" ya know?

You don’t have to be a high-minded critic or a journalism purist to find something disturbing about seeing people who are supposed to report the news selling out and sucking up at the same time. In fact, it’s downright creepy..."

Daley’s been so wonderful for Chicago. Let’s see; Daley’s mafia-connected pals, the Duffs receive a $100,000,000.00 janitorial contract that was earmarked for businesses owned by minorities and women, the son of Daley’s mafia-connected friend Caruso, nearly beats a 13-yr-old kid to death and all stops are pulled out (Daley supporters and pastors of churches with large black congregations, Rev. B. Herbert Marting and the Rev. Floyd Davis provide testimony to support Caruso) to reduce his charge (from attempted murder to aggravated battery), Daley’s mafia-connected friend Michael Tadin receives lucrative towing contracts (tow ‘em and sell ‘em is more like it), Hired Truck scandal (shakin’ ‘em in da city), Daley’s hand-picked Police Superintendent, Matt Rodriguez resigns after revelations of his close association with mafia figures, Daley nephew Robert Vanecko goes scott-free after delivering a deadly punch to 21-yr-old David Koschman–Vanecko would later partner with the mayor’s son (Patrick) and reap windfall profits from a company that coincidentally began getting major city business after the two became investors, of course Vanecko was also given access to City pension fund money, and summarily mismanaged nearly $70,000,000.00 of it. Daley has made very questionable deals: the Skyway lease, the parking meters, the parking garages….great deals for Chicagoans…not. There were drug dealing managers and employees of City departments, building inspectors on the take (I’m sure the fami.....

Aging mobsters are a lot like aging hookers, in that if they hang around long enough, they become respectable.

I always got a kick out of the way Bill Roemer more or less deferred to Tony Accardo in all the books he wrote in retirment, basically calling him a gentleman.

Maybe it had something to do with the piss Sam De Stefano took in his coffee on one visit.

Among the previously posted Daley rip-offs of the citizens of Chicago are also the Decaux signs, lamp posts and bus stop shelters.

Remember after Daley gave that French company the contract, he takes a Four Star trip to France? A Chicago or USA based company should have been awarded the work.

The signs, lamp posts and shelters themselves are pieces of crap. Functionally, for Chicago wheather the bus stop shelters are the dumbest design imaginable with large gaps allowing cold blowing wind to pass thru during long Chicago winters.

Many of the stuctures are bubling paint, peeling and seriously rusting because of crappy materials and workmanship and no primer under the paint. How old are they? 3-4 years old?

Then there is the wrought iron fencing rip-off, the land deal rip-off, the Park Grill rip-off. It went on and on, Miegs Field. The millions in TIF funds paid to insider consultants....

And the media in this town, whores all except for Kass and that Reader guy Javorsky (sp).

I'll include SCC as a worthy news outlet.

Let that little fuck pay for is retirement protection out of his generous pension. The people living here are so stupid. I'm so stupid living here supporting thes asses by paying taxes.

Daley’s Bodyguard Detail
He's a proposal for Ritchie and Alderman Ed Burke. You guys need to get in the boat. You need to make concessions like the rest of us. Times are tough economically right now for the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago is suffering from a $550 million dollar budget shortfall. So here's what you can do to help out. Pay for you own cars, bodyguards, chauffeurs, errand boy's and flunkies with your Campaign War Chest, Daley $1.2 million and Burke $8.1 million, that we the citizens of Chicago have paid for one way or the other (you know how things work in Chicago). We know that both of you are deeply concerned with the economic situation, fiscal viability and future of the Great City of Chicago. This little gesture on you part will be greatly appreciated by the citizens of Chicago and would be part of your legacy. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and I will be the first one to lobby the alderman to proclaim a resolution for Richard Daley and Edward Burke for their economic contribution to the City of Chicago and for doing the right thing. I’ll also foot the bill for a plaque remembering your good deed and enhancing your legacy. The caption for the plaque will read as follows; “ASK NOT WHAT YOUR CITY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR CITY” . As for Stephanie Neely and the unnamed person who enjoy police protection and a city owned car I hope you have been claiming this benefit on your income tax return and if not, it's not too late to file an amended return. As far as your bodyguard detail goes it's done, its oooooover. Better start car shopping and planning your day so you can run your own errands, the Citizens of The City of Chicago are done paying the tab, the entitlements are done. The inspector General is coming for you next.
Whistleblowers hope I didn’t leave anyone out.

Former CPD Commander Bill Corbett was project manager of the 911 center and the CPD HQ at 3510 S Michigan. Maggie's maiden name is... Corbett. What a coincidence!

Bill Corbett was also head of fleet management and, years ago, a raider for States Attorney Ed Hanrahan on the Mark Clark/Fred Hampton raid and shootout.

That guy got around and obviously was connected at an early age.

What, you never knew a relative through marriage of Mayor Daley's was on that Black Panther raid? I guess Daley forgot, like he forgot all his outfit friends and other such forgetful moments.

How come Sneed and the rest of them never brought it up?

I have written letters to Mayor Rahm, New Superintendent McCarthy, my Alderman indicating my opposition to providing bodygurads for Shortshanks. I signed them as a taxpayer not a Police Officer.

It takes ten minutes and 3 stamps. Who knows, maybe if enough folks complain someone at the top will show some balls and put a stop to this.
