Air & Water Show Canceled

Dateline Chicago:
  • Citing concerns about the August temperatures, city officials today canceled the Chicago Air & Water show and rescheduled the popular event for February.

The two-day extravaganza typically draws upwards of one million people per day if the weather cooperates. City officials claim the mid-winter show shouldn't affect attendance by any significant margins.

"The water portion of the show will encompass the US Coast Guard and Chicago Police Marine Unit demonstrating cold weather rescue techniques. The icebergs along the shore will just add to the excitement and drama of the demonstrations."

The US Navy Blue Angels and USAF Thunderbirds could not confirm their appearances by press time seeing as how they usually have shows scheduled in the warmer climates during the winter months, but that won't stop the show from going on. The Chicago Police Helicopter Unit has agreed to do a fly over at 1:00 PM and Cletus Granville of Robbins has a radio controlled bi-plane he's been itching to try out.
Sounds like a good time this February. Stay tuned for more.

My 'hood has a pretty strong Latin Kings element (and a rival gang, judging by the tag wars) but it's not bad on the streets, really. I am out every night walking the dog; I say ola, they say ola and all is quiet. I think the Hispanic gangs are hewing to the old Mafia principle of keeping a low profile and not hassling the civilians.

6/01/2011 08:31:00 PM

So now we have moved on to the second faze in surrender. The gangbangers that own the street don't bother me, so it's not too bad.

This poster must not have a kid that may catch a stray bullet when "Tico" decides "Flaco" needs 15 or 16 shots thrown at him from a cowardly block away. After all, "Flaco" did disrespect his nation by having his hat askew incorrectly.

Surrender is not the answer. Anger and action are. We are not in the woods. We do not lay down and hope the bear doesn't eat us.

Chicago Air n' Ice Show Information

Shell Oil will defer it's sponsorship this year to Prestone, a subsidiary.

The snowmobile portion will start at 1000 hrs. in Lake Michigan between Oak St and North Ave. prior to the air show starting at noon as in the past.

The US Air Frost Winter Exhibition Team, "The TundraBirds" will be the headliners this February.
(The US Navy Blue Arctics have a prior commitment in Anchorage)

The Army Frozen Knights Parachute Team will initiate their free-fall from an altitude of 13,500 feet. Each of the five member team will forgo the traditional shout out of the famous Apache Indian name upon leaving C-130 Hercules,
substituting instead with... "Below Zerooooo!"

The lost/frozen children and Command Post igloo will be located in the turn around at North/LSD.

Despite the teen wildings in hoodies along North Ave Beach, ripping off the suburbanites of their Coleman hand warmers the show will be cut short with the CFD citing "cold" as the factor.

When will these people realize that these gangbangers have no interest in seeing the violence end - they will have to find real jobs. Is their funding/program in question right now before the legislature or city council? Does not seem to be a coincidence that thugs appeared on the beaches to demonstrate the need for Ceasefire. ...or you mean to tell me that they be turnin' it around?

If we can't control a simple warm day at the beach anymore, let alone a fireworks show, why is this any different?

A. We don't have anough police manpower.

B. The crowds have a different agenda.

Man-oh-man. Looking around the net on these Memorial Day uprising other cities are laughing at Chicago and the media attempts to portray an 88 degree day at the beach as a medical emergency.

Look at the comments on these stories as you cruise the net.

What an embarrassment.

Not to mention that the beach was ordered closed at about 6 pm right?

So the peak heat for the day was O-V-E-R.

Anyways...so...do we know if today's Cub's or Sox's game has been called off out of concern that we will not be able to get ambulances in if there's an emergency?

We better get ol' Larry out there at the parks with his two inch fire hose just in case we need to spray a mist.

Word has it that some people in the Wrigley bleachers are feeling lightheaded and are falling down..

This little fiasco speaks volumes on Chicago's emergency preparedness should we have a real terrorist-like disaster were the situation would be several orders of magnitude greater doesn't it?

Did we not learn anything from the little snowstorm on LSD a few months back?

The message is loud and clear to me that's for sure.

Chicago is unprepared to handle any major emergency ESPECIALLY IN THE DOWNTOWN LAKEFRONT AREA.

We could not get manpower and equipment in to clear the drive back then and we don't have a response today to a crowd of a few thousand at the lakefront.

You're running scared Chicago. But the million dollar Alderman and Ex-mayor feel safe with their taxpayer funded security teams.

How about those downtown parking garages too huh? Now there's a disaster waiting to happen.

Talk about a total disregard for the public safety!

The political apparatus leases out the parking garages to their Investment Banker friends and then the bankers rip out the emergency phone system, telling you to go eff yourself in not so many words -- use your cell phone...underground...where's there's little to no coverage...because it will TAKE THEM 30 DAYS TO WIRE IN A NEW SYSTEM!!!

Do we need to have a major event happen before the powers that be find this unacceptable. WTH?

We launch a few missiles into the crowds at the beach if they appear to be getting too rowdy and just call them suspected gangbangers if we make a mistake.

Based on cost, the Bud Biliken parade should be canceled. The amount of police presence needed to attempt to keep control is massive. The powers that be and the media always hide the fact that so much violence occurs there. If just one of the Chicago "journalists" would get a scanner and monitor the CW that the parade is broadcast on, they would be shocked. The sheer amount of fights, shootings, foot chases and guns recovered would scare them silly. Of course they wouldn't report it, not PC to point out violent behavior in black areas. I wonder if someone in the media would have the balls to ask the department exactly how much manpower is allocated to the parade every year. If you actually counted all the people you would be wondering who is patrolling the other neighborhoods. This parade needs to end, it is only by incredible luck that an innocent by stander hasn't been shot or killed yet. But it is coming, you can't put blinders on all the time and come out lucky everytime. Lets not even talk about the hundred of lost kids every year. What a joke. End this racial farce,

Please do a detailed information report and submit any information, that may aid in stopping this menace.

There is a very serious gypsy problem in A5, particularly in 016/017 right now.

Information like this is gold, please get this to the appropriate units. (A5, Intelligence, 016,017, 025)

At the time Daley said "Remember there are instances that happen every year on the beaches and parks," said Daley. "It doesn't say the parks are unsafe. Remember this is an early, early, summer -- much earlier than we've had before."

Mayor Daley says in spite of the arrests of eight people for two attacks near North Avenue Beach, Chicago's beaches and parks are safe.

Not exactly, the organizers of the south side parade decided to cancel it because Irish don't know how to handle thier drinking. The ammo we are allowed to carry now is alot better than the ammo back then. Shot placement is key, caliber second. If that's not true, why did the swat team elect to all carry glock 17's when they could of went with any caliber glock. 9mm = less recoil resulting in more rounds fired accurately resulting in multiple organ disruption.

One is a totally structured and controlled environment under a roof and the other was unleashed, open-air pandemonium.

However, if the beaches were operated tightly like a casino, tax-paying, law-abiding citizens who have control of their animal instincts could thoroughly and safely enjoy them. The fees to enter would pay for the security.

Remember, we didn't write the lawsps here, the corrupt democraps
did. You have our sympathy.

To the poster who believes in shot placement-
Shot placement is fine, important, but what are you going to do when you are armed with a little 5 shot J frame and you are accosted by more than one BG? Remember, anytime you are legally authorized to shoot someone once, shoot them again just to make sure he's not capable of harming you any further. How far do you think those five rounds will go? Carry at a minimum, a 8-9 shot capacity 9mm with an extra mag. Your life may depend on it.
