More Crime Up North
Surprisingly, the Department isn't blaming it on the heat:
- Police have issued a Community Alert for the Lakeview area after several people reported getting sprayed with mace, attacked and mugged over the past few weeks.
The robbers approach their victims as they are walking on the street or into their homes during the early morning hours, police said. They then proceed to spray the victims with mace or pepper spray, knock them to the ground and forcibly mug them before fleeing the area.
The robberies have occurred within the following boundaries: Belmont to the South, Addison to the North, Pine Grove to the East and Sheffield to the West.
And this helpful bit of info is hilarious:
- The community alert urges residents to be extra vigilant: don't walk alone, check to see if area surveillance is working properly and inform friends and neighbors of the crimes.
First up, what qualifies potential victims to check on area surveillance cameras? And after that, what are they going to do if the cameras are working - wave to it? Do we really have to go through this charade again? Chances are no one is watching anyway, especially at 3 AM. You're better off carrying a gun.

OT. Teen shot at 43rd St beach on the southside Friday night around nine. A few minutes later, on call Deputy ordered the beach closed due to overcrowding. Let's see if this even makes the news and then gets blamed on the heat as well.

I'm confused. I saw all the reports and I still do not know who to look for. All they are saying is that the robbers are males in their late teens or early twenties. But I don't know if they are black,white,spanish,asian or what. Who should I be watching out for? Why won't the newsmedia tell me?

serious question on the suggestion to carry, and I'd like to hear from coppers out there....
i'm one of those rare chicago citizens who actually carry a cfp, along with a foid of course, and a small pile of out-of-state carry permits. Sure, I know none of that entitles me to carry here.
I regularly "car-carry" following the law, under a little-known, totally legal condition that allows a center console to be used "as a case". nothing in the pipe, no mag in the gun....check.
what's going to happens to me if some cockroach attempts to car jack me and i waste his ass in the process of self-defense?
How can a law-abiding citizen practice reasonable self-defense under un-constitutional chicago law? How would law-enforcement deal with a guy like me in the event I'm discovered carrying on my person, simply trying to walk down my own block late at night? or tending to my business located in the stockyards area?
I'd like to think that I'd recieve some kind of "consideration" as a lawful cfp holder, among other things.

Newsradio 780 reported that on the North Side, males with dark hair, 5-6 inches tall, medium height wearing tshirts and blue jeans were pepper spraying people and then taking their money.
No race mentioned at all.
The next story was about some pervert at Chopin Park and his race (White) was mentioned and a similar description.

It is time to get rid of domestic terrorists. It is too bad the CPD has pussified Bossholes (whoever came up with Bossholes - excellent choice of words).
The new superintendent, Mc Puppet, has lost all credibility with me. This guy could have came in and kicked ass. Instead, he exchanged his integrity for a paycheck.
Good leadership (notice how I did not say "management") starts at the top. The CPD (at least the "real police' who are left) are aching to be "led", NOT managed.
I do not see citizens going out to take back the lakefront, so it will eventually become a no-mans-land where you keep your distance if you do not want to be mugged or worse.

I'm not a cop and I'm not a lawyer but I suspect what would happen if you were carrying a locked and loaded gun without a permit and FOID card would depend primarily on: (1) The circumstances you were stopped by the police, (2) If you told the police you were carrying it before they found it either by seeing it or in frisking (very dangerous for you if they just come upon it), (3) The experience and disposition of the police, (4) your police record. (5) If you're under the influence of anything, (6) If you demonstrate an understanding of how to use it and have had any training, not neccessarily in that order.
All that being said, it's very, very, very likely that you'll be arrested. But with a good record and no priors, it is unlikely you will serve any time. Although, if you get some DA or ADA filled with piss and vinagar who is deranged with the gun control and guns are bad mentality, you might go to jail.
Letting you walk is a huge risk for the cops.
But those that have been thru a few rodeos can spot a citizen protecting themselves and who is no threat to society a million miles away unlike the DA's, ADA's and judges who can't see the real threats who have actually attacked citizens as a living and sport and who are standing right in front of them.
The experts can correct my humble opinion where ever they see fit And, I don't say that sarcastically.
Lastly, it's going to cost you a lot of $$$.

The young lady shot last weekend was a Black girl who had just graduated college and starting her life. What a shame. A person with great potential snuffed out just like that. I was watching NBC news which had this story, a story about someone fondling women on the NW side, and another story of a male exposing himself to children. In all the stories they mentioned that the offenders were male and for people to be on the lookout. That was it as far as description...they are male. Great community alerts.

You would probably be arrested. In the old days, we gave a pass to those who obviously were carrying just as self-protection, but the younguns out on the streets don't relate to that and most of them are all about their arrest count and court time/money, so I'd have to say you're really risking it.
Offenders are tranies from the southside. After 1am they are all over. when you stop them they all live in 5,6,7 the only solution to stop these hood rats from preying on whitey is to shut down the redline

I'm a civilian with a FOID and strong supporter of 2nd amendment. My question goes to SCC. Why can't I carry a pistol and take responsibility for my own defense in the city? I read Ill. CCW all the time and getting a CCW passage in this state is pitiful. I realize that the police are not bodyguards for residents of our city and can't be at all places all the time. Why can't the CPD take a stronger stand in Springfield for law abiding, non felons to legally CCW. I think it would help the cause. Your thoughts, CPD?

You would receive consideration from normal cops. But, there are cops out there as anti-gun as Daley who would hook up another cop because they are total jagoffs, and would relish the "big pinch" if they found a gun on you. They are un-American assholes who don't respect the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
The bottom line is that you do what you need to do to defend yourself and your family and handle it from there. Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six, you know.

The CPD is an organization controlled by the democratic party. While I and many members support concealed carry for qualified civilians, the CPD as an organization will never, never, ever voice support for the 2nd amendment. All of our leaders, each and every one without exception, from captain on up owe their rank as favors to various democratic politicians. The same is true for many lower ranking members have been "meritoriously" promoted or just have good spots (ie: out of patrol). I am a life member of the NRA and even though I don't 100% agree with everything the NRA says, I agree much, much less with what the democratic party says and certainly with what the democratic party has become. JFK was also an NRA member and would probably be disgusted with what the democratic party has become. He was much more conservative and patriotic than the libtards in charge now.

You can thank Westside Inside Do Nothing for that. He or she has a talent that few seem to appreciate (I am one who does!). You folks have some characters as coworkers, that much is certain. Yes- your crazy! Not because you have gun in your car, because the thing isn't loaded with 1 in the pipe!
If you choose to carry a weapon in your car or on your person, then you accept the risk of getting caught with it.
Don't expect a free pass, let the officers know it's there, let them take whatever action they decide and have your day in court.
If a you feel your in danger of death or a battery, then eliminate the threat by any means available.
Thousands of young kids were at a 5k race yesterday along the lake front, something called Girls on the Run. It was hot out! The race previously had water tables set at every mile. This year, one water station in the middle of the race! Again, it was pretty hot out there. Some poor little kids, we are talking white black brown asian, all kinds were getting sick barely able to complete a 5k race/walk. One water station in the middle of the race. Disgraceful! Also, the grass everywhere was way long. The city just isnt cutting it. And I saw 1 cop. A white shirt boss, Lt. or higher, with his helmet on traveling a papv. No other CPD anywhere, and there were some real bust out scum lirking. This city BLOWS!
