Police Shoot, Kill Assailant

  • Police answering a domestic battery call in the Englewood neighborhood early this morning shot and killed a fleeing suspect who they believed was holding a weapon, police said.

[...] In a statement, police said that as officers approached the residence, a male suspect ran away attempting to escape. A foot chase ensued, with police identifying themselves and ordering the suspect to stop, according to the statement.

At that point, "the offender turned towards the officer, pulled an object from his pocket, which the officer believed to be a handgun, and aggressively came at the officer.

No officers injured.

This is getting to be like work, you know?

Bang, bang, bang. All day long. All night, too.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

A guy could get tennis elbow.

Idiots.

Sorry, but it comes unavoidably to mind -- has anyone named their baby "Assailant" yet?

Has kind of a nice ring to it...

SCC said: "No Officers injured." And the offender, who pulled something out of his pocket and advanced on the Officers is no longer with us? Good news.

Good job CPD! God bless you officers who put yourself in harm's way to protect us citizens.
Now if we could only protect ourselves. I don't want to have to protect my own family, but I see what years of lawsuits and dismantling of our protectors have done to make the current environment what it is today.
Thank you, guys and gals in blue, you are the true heroes!

How sad is this?

When will the liberal demotards EVER wake up and admit the real problems that plague Shitcago???

Drugs, gangs, a sorry excuse for an educational system and third generation welfare mentality???

When does the concept of personal responsibility come into play!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like nobody has a psych problem except maybe the first poster.
Glad you're okay, office. What matters is that we go home in one piece to the people who love us.

Good job to the officers!

off topic a little bit
just read my fop news letter and the article written by Daniel Gorman titled months, even years made me want to puke. nothing but sorry ass excuses as to why officers in admin spots and special units cant go back to the streets. 1st he cites officers would have to dig up uniforms. well every ofc regardless of assignment is supposed to have a uniform in their locker. solved. 2nd he writes about not being trained on in car camera. heres an idea, dont use it if ur not trained on it. 3rd newer versions of radios. the radios still work like they did 15 years ago, u press the button and talk into it. oh yeah he mentioned not being able to log on to pdt. self explanitory. unit, beat, car#, pc and password. DG goes on to say officers from these units are expected to answer calls for service and know proper procedures. DUH! they are still the police arent they? btw it sure is nice to finally get some help with those radio jobs.

nevermind that this guy knocked the fuck outta his baby and his baby mamma

nevermind that he ran like a bitch

nevermind that he kept running when uniformed offices said stop

nevermind that he was locked up previously for beating another female

nevermind that had an object/weapon/thing in his hand pointed at the police

break out the 8th grade graduation pictures, the teddy bears and balloons. lets rememeber what a wonderful family guy he used to be.

Thank you CPD for ridding society of this piece of human waste. Regardless of the particulars of how it all went down, the officers involved did the right thing and we are all better off for it.

psych problem and enjoy the summer?? The only problem is they shot a guy holding a cell phone. The last people who shot and killed someone holding a cell phone they were fired(latanya haggerty). Yes, these officers acted correct but in this city that will never be viewed as correct. The only psych problem these coppers are gonna have is wondering if they are gonna loose thier job and why they killed someone who was only holding a cell phone...but hey, we all make mistakes. some bigger than others I guess

You guys ever hear of cellphone guns? Last year the the DOC put out an alert on guns that were being disguised or converted as cell phones.
We use our training as well as information from a nationwide bulletin alerting Law Enforcement about cell phone guns and we second guess this officer?

Take a look at this video and tell me if you would wait to verify if the offender's phone is really a phone:

*****************************

so then if someone in clear and plain day is pointing a cell phone at you and you can clearly see its a cell phone are you going to shoot them??? I mean after all, it could still be a gun even though it just looks like a cell phone. ok, you can testify infront of a judge and jury at a civil trial that you killed a person because you thought the phone he had may have been a cell phone gun... jurors will look at sh*theads family and will immediatly award them millions... ive been in four shootings and three of them resulting in lawsuits. one of them have gone through trial which was a winner for the city. This lawsuit stuff with shootings is not kangaroo court. cell phone guns dont impress anyone there and it only makes you look like a cop who has a smartass excuse and insane reason for killing someone. For your fellow coppers we can accept the cell phone gun idea, barely. A jury will only be angered at it because a good lawyer will rip you and your cell phone gun to shreds in court. Instead of creating stories of cell phone gun crap just say what really happened....

After chasing the violent offender on foot into a dark yard with minimal light You feared for your life because he quickly drew an object from his pocket which had a shiny reflection in the low light condition. at the same exact time as he was drawing this object he made sudden aggressive movements towards my partner and I quickly closing distance. In the split second that the incident occurred I instantly feared the shiny object to be a gun or knife and immediately fired a shot fearing that my partner and I were about to be attacked with that object which would have caused great harm or even death yada yada yada... stick with what works not this cell phone gun crap

How dare anyone trll thr officrs to GET OUT OF THE WAY
If you knew the story it was not an optiion.
Two female officers respond to a burglary in progress chase offender who enters a vehicle...the rest you can figure out for yourself..but I for one think thsese two officers are tough as nails and should be commended for going above and beyond what most any other copper would do....male or female
