Shoot the Messenger

If there was any doubt about what Rahm and Company are trying to do, this ought to put it to rest:
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel and newly confirmed police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Wednesday that they're adding a "marginal" number of officers to the Near North Side to combat a spate of violence, even as they questioned the media's coverage of the attacks.

McCarthy cautioned reporters about characterizing crimes correctly, pointing to the differences between shoplifting, robbery and criminal mischief. And the mayor suggested journalists be more judicious in using the term "flash mob."

"We have to be sensitive to what it conjures up," Emanuel said.

But the administration has played a role in creating the ongoing frenzy. Authorities slapped a mob action charge on some of the youths arrested in the attacks. And McCarthy has pushed "flash mob" into the Chicago crime vernacular since he arrived in May.
When in doubt, attack the messenger. Rahm's been doing that for years - under Clinton, in the House, as Obama's hatchet man. Now he's whipping it out here. And the Tribune Company is folding like a cheap tent, closing comment sections on all their articles as the questioning gets intense. We figure it's only a matter of time until a few other outlets fall into line. Rahm will threaten to deny them "access" to certain events, press conferences, etc., and attempt to bend them to his will. He'll be moderately successful, too.

Witness the spin at work already. These aren't "wildings" or "mob attacks" any more. They're being called "multiple offender incidents," like that's supposed to make the victim feel better and the liberal neighborhoods more understanding. The trouble is, that's not working any more.

The perception of crime being out of control has taken hold because crime is out of control, and that genie being out of the bottle is not going to be hidden as easily as it was with Shortshanks.

Maybe Rahm should do his fucking job and not try and tell reporters how to do theirs. How in the fuck can Rahm be not happy with the media? You can't get any more liberal than they are.

He's lucky our media isn't the least bit conservative. He'd be chasing his fucking tail!

Regarding your interview on Chicago Tonight, McNoke:

Stop mumbling. You don't project confidence. (I can understand why, but don't make it so obvious.)

Until now, flash mobs were NOT some kind of juvenile disruption, as you so casually remark. Those opera singers, those dancers, those broadway artists, well, they were highly skilled entertainers who took it public in an unexpected way. Don't equate them with a group of juveniles hanging on a street corner.

Yes, there might have been 19 calls for service 'right up to the time this thing started' on Memorial Day, but how many were there AFTER this thing started? Of course there were no calls for service at 1330, which was the time you quoted. The felony mob didn't ARRIVE until 1730!!!

You were visibly relieved when asked about the commenter who said they had a friend who is a police officer who was THERE on Memorial Day and it WAS an out of control gang situation.

You immediately blamed the officer for not taking action. Action for what? You claim nothing happened. And, maybe you've forgotten a few things about boots on the ground policing. The police officer may have been unarmed and off-duty. The police officer might have been there with his/her family. The police officer may have been on a one-man car and realized how desperately outnumbered he (or she) was. The police officer may have been attending to any number of police duties already.

Certainly, YOU don't know what the circumstances were, so why denigrate the officer? You were just thrilled to be able to deflect blame for a second, there, now weren't you?

And shut up with the "and guess what". You say it about as often as we hear 'huh?' on the street. You sound goofy each time you say it and you use it about once every ten sentences. VERY professional.

I'm still trying to figure out what, of any consequence, you actually said, so I guess you'll fit right into Emanuel's plan. Many words, no substance.

And, by the way, "multi-offender robberies" are NOT the same as dozens, or hundreds, of offenders marauding through crowds of people, intent on committing random felonies. The public isn't buying it. The police never did.

Rahm is trying desperately to spin this and scold the media. The media, being gutless, will fold partly because they don't want to disobey Rahm and partly because they are liberal ass wipes.

I think the people realize what's going on, so it may be too late for democratic spin tactics on this one. Fox 32 actually had a discussion on if it was alright to bring up the race of offenders in criminal attacks.

Why is that even a question? What kind of sorry ass would even think about that? Of course, the "community activists" came out and said that they don't want black youths to be targeted when going downtown.

Here's an idea, assholes. Control your kids. Tell them it's not OK to beat and rob people while roving in packs. Unbelievable.

So, should we happen to take our occasional amble on the lakefront, we might get "flash mobbed?"

Oh, the horror!

It'll be a flash alright...

A brilliant 18 inch flash of yellow-white flame behind a .451 caliber, brass jacketed projectile crashing into some jack-hole's grille at just over 1000 feet per second followed by a heavy, concussive report. We think after turning the first ones into halloween masks with bodies attached to them, the rest will shit, scatter and shit again.

...Smile and wait for the flash muddahfukah! Yo ass is about to be famous!

*FLASH/BOOOOOM!*

"Too young to die, too old, crippled (and tired) to take an asskicking..."

That's our credo...

I'm sorry...but the "image it conjures up" is exactly what it is, Mr. Mayor! Imagine, Mr. Mayor, being surrounded by 15-20 black teenagers, beaten by most of those 15-20, and then robbed of your wallet and phone. It sounds pretty terrifying to me. All it takes is one well placed kick or punch to the head to kill you. I love how he knows better than all of the citizens who live and work downtown who have repeatedly stated on the news that this has been a growing problem for two years now and that they are now afraid to be in the area. Our fears don't matter. Only their liberal fear that we may offend other blacks by calling this what it is. He doesn't want to offend his voter base. Unreal! I used to bring my family downtown to enjoy the fests and Michigan Ave. but that will not happen anymore. Even though I get to carry my gun I still don't want to be put in a situation where I have to get into a shooting in front of my children.

In the spirit of "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" kind of mood, you might be interested in reading the article linked below. There isn't too much BS included. Cavanaugh was a real peach of a mayor, seeing as how he was a favorite of the national media and a very liberal Democrat. He needed lots of cold hard cash for all of his wonderful social justice programs so, in addition to raising every kind of tax imaginable (sound familiar), he secured millions amd millions of federal dollars, some through what is now know as the miserable failure of the Federal "Model Cities Program." People and business had already started fleeing Detroit but Cavanaugh's policies seemed to speed up that process. Guess Cavanaugh's "ideas" didn't work very well because they, obviously, didn't stop the 1967 riot from occurring. Cavanaugh's well deserved fall from being one of the Democratic Party's rising stars began with his early response to the first 24 hours of rioting. Seems he thought that a large police presence would really make the situation worse and his other decisions, such as delayed reactions, did indeed cause the "situation" to ...... well, the rest of the story is more than just a footnote in Detroit's sad history.

Here's my take on the whole flash mob mess: the city is running out of money. Local government has already sold off parking meter rights, they're going to sell off water rights, and it still won't be enough. So now, Chicago politicians look to the east to make money -- beach front property!

"No!" the citizens cry. "Never!!" But wait, it's getting dangerous on the beaches. Swarms of domestic terrorists are threatening tourists and residents, and the police can't do a thing about it. So they begin by closing the beaches. The domestic terrorists move north. Police are ineffective. More beach closings, more muggings. Citizens are in an uproar. "The lakefront is dangerous! How do we keep Chicago safe from these attacks?"

The mayor has an idea; let's sell the lakefront to developers. That will keep us safe! The people are relieved. "Yes," they sigh, "privatization will keep us safer." The developer/saviors move in to "protect" us. Buildings and walls are built; private security companies are installed. The people, at last, are saved, and Chicago is flush with money. The end.

This is rich. Call it what you want RahmShanks.
When I was 8 yes old, me &my pals were " flash mobbed" by the herds of youth that eventually 'closed' Riverview Park (because of the heat).
Nothing changed since 1967 and it's gotten worse ever since and nobody in public office will ever admit it.
So liberal lakefronters, how do like the diversity the city been embracing?
Good luck to all the recruits going downtown to wrangle the wild herds of Daleys children.
There's a lot of decent people out there who real deserve a safe city, no matter where they live or visit.
But no police power and no penalties for the crimes, your choice for city leadership has failed you.
THIS IS THE DALEY LEGACY.

If it's a current or former PO,YOU ARE FUCKED...to not charge will light the match that sets this city aflame. Don't think this scenario has not been thought out by the cabal of cowards downtown

In the past few days about 4 articles in both papers are sympathetic to the savages attacking people downtown. Every reporter making preemptive excuses for this behavior. "This has been happening in Englewood for years and the police/media don't seem to care", "poor black children that are sitting around idle at home and can't be hired to jobs by a slanted socioeconomic system will be prone to emotional outbursts" What a bunch of PC BS. FACT--Black thugs attacking weak elderly tourists, white & asian exchange students at an average 15 to 1 ratio. FACT---Wilding in 018th district Has been going on unreported by our media for over two years. FACT--Tourism is going down, Potential conventions heading to other cities. FACT--Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Meeks, Fr. Pfleger, or any other prominent "Race issue Activists" has shown their media attention loving mugs on TV to espouse outrage at these hate crimes. FACT-We are understaffed 3,000 with more people set to retire unreplaced. There is no sugar-coating these facts and changing what is really happening to cute PC Names. What is happening is violent animalistic mob attacks by several black thugs on individuals of other races in downtown areas. People from across the nation don't come to Englewood for conventions or sightseeing. They come for our downtown & Lakefront. This is starting to become a financial issue for Rahm, and he will have to address it quickly. Now our adoring public wants the real story. Its going to be a long hot summer....stay out of downtown and stay thirsty my friends!! P.S--Have not yet heard a valid argument for not drug testing CHA Residents. We should Drug test all CHA residents and link card recipients. Mary Mitchell and ACLU thinks this is "unconstitutional and unfair to law abiding residents." No one is talking about a 70 year old lady on her blood pressure meds, we are talking about testing for hard drugs cocaine, heroin, and the like. Law abiding citizens forced to live with these pieces of garbage should applaud testing. It will improve their domestic situation/quality of life and allow us to boot out junkies that do nothing but collect free money and housing. Politicians should love it because they will be able to recoup some of the money they pilfered from our pensions by evicting criminals.

To the good cops in Chicago, you are screwed. I really feel bad for you, it's a no win situation. I lived on the NSide on/off since '84 and loved the City until about mid 2000. I could see this crap getting out of hand and knew it was going to get worse with PC Culture now the norm in this Country, and worse in Chicago.

I moved 3 years ago to Nowheresville MO. My biggest concerns and fears are ticks, chiggers (no that is not a slur, it's and evil insect) and poison ivy.

My wife refused to believe what I had been telling her for years. You could see the beach atmosphere slowly change for the worse but 90% of the clueless yups and libs were oblivious.

If anyone thinks for a second that these racial hate attacks are going to improve, and that City Hall will get things handled, realize that the politicians, the f..ing news, the "community leaders" are too far into this to change. They'll just double down on all the BS they have been pushing for years.

Look at the CBS/WBBM headline on their site, its already happening..

CHICAGO (CBS) — A few “bad teens” may have started the series of mob attacks in Chicago. But is their action making life difficult for other teens who just want to enjoy the city? CBS 2′s Pamela Jones went to the beach Wednesday to find out.

So good police, no worries, it's just a FEW BAD TEENS.

be safe

The real story lies in the failure of journalism to provide investigate and truthful and "uncomfortable" reports of government and community. Chicago has a Mayor who is well-known bully. Now, a Police Superintendent who is also a well known bully. It amazes me how Chicago & Illinois does not believe we are deserving of something better. Due to the failure of journalist to be more than PR this has escalated.

JUNE 9, 2011, 2:00 P.M. ET.Chicago Police Brace for 'Flash Mob' Attacks

By JULIE JARGON And ILAN BRAT

CHICAGO—Police here are girding for another weekend of "flash mob" attacks after arresting 29 people in connection with a recent rash of assaults and robberies in and around the city's tony shopping and dining district.

Twelve crimes involving large groups of young men were reported last weekend, in addition to others earlier this spring. The incidents are some of the first major problems confronting newly appointed Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.

The attacks have received wide attention in Chicago because they have occurred around the city's affluent north side, including near the "Magnificent Mile," a Michigan Avenue strip popular with tourists.

After shopping on Michigan Avenue here early Saturday evening, Krzysztof Wilkowski was sitting on his scooter a couple of blocks away checking his phone for a restaurant when he got whacked in the face with a baseball.

At first, he said, he thought it was a prank, but then he looked up and saw 15 to 20 young men approaching. "My first reaction was, 'I'm about to get robbed, what do I do?'" Mr. Wilkowski recalled in an interview.

The 34-year-old insurance company employee from a Chicago suburb grabbed the keys from his ignition and held tight to his phone. A few of the attackers dragged him off his scooter and pulled him onto Chicago Avenue where they punched him, hit him with his helmet and tried to grab his phone.

"The way we're attacking this is attack the crimes—not being satisfied locking up one or two of [the suspects], but identifying and arresting the entire group," Mr. McCarthy said in an interview.

Mr. McCarthy, who was chosen to be the city's top cop by new Mayor Rahm Emanuel and confirmed by the city council Wednesday, said more than half of the 29 people arrested were picked up Saturday or Sunday.

Six of the dozen incidents over the weekend were robberies, with five involving the same group of people, Mr. McCarthy said. Ten members of that group have been arrested. Another 19 people, mostly juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the nonviolent crimes comprising the other six incidents. In one incident, a group of 10 people robbed a student on a bus, Mr. McCarthy said.

He said officers are monitoring train stops and other areas where groups might form. He is sending additional police officers to the downtown area and deploying undercover officers. Detectives and the gang unit are also assisting.

Mr. Wilkowski said he was happy with the department's response to the 911 call he placed as soon as his attackers disbanded. He said he suffered a bruise on his face and scratches on his knees, wrist and elbow, but "not a single scratch on my phone."

As I recall, a few years ago Ald. Tunney was a victim of a group of young honor students who took the El up to the his northside ward to enjoy the scenery. They forgot their lunch money, though, so asked him for his wallet. He followed them called 911 and rode around in a squad and IDed them to 019 officers.

Headline June 14, 2011

"More Youths Participate in Malarkey near Gold Coast"

Three men and two women were the victim of malarkey last night as a few bad apples attacked the 5 in seperate incidents. One had a broken jaw, another a crushed eye orbit and the remaining three were suffering from severe head trauma as youths participated in foolish behaviour....blah blah...
