- Chicago police are examining a video and interviewing witnesses to try to find out who was among a gang of young people who attacked and stabbed a 25-year-old man in the Lakeview neighborhood late Sunday.
The man, who was being treated at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, was attacked in the 3300 block of North Halsted Street following a confrontation with a group of young people about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Although police News Affairs said the man was taken to the hospital in good condition, another police report said he initially was in serious condition.
Part of the attack was captured on video by witnesses who said they had a video camera handy because of recent attacks in the 3300-3400 blocks of North Halsted.
Ah, Chicago in the summer.

And, of course, Tom Tunney thinks it's imperative that a permanent 'entertainment district detail' be formed and assigned to the area. He already has half the 019th and 23rd districts at his disposal on Friday and Saturday nights.

Looks like the Flash Mob Thugs have moved furthur North away from the Gold Coast to the Lakeview Boys Town area to do their dirty deeds. From the video it looks like the residents of Boys Town are fighting back against the animal hoards from the South and West sides. Good start!

You should watch the video. When you do, think of the last time you watched National Geographic and saw a pack of hyenas attack some other animal. There is no difference here. Pure pack animal behavior on display.
About 4 years ago they built the "Center on Halsted" for the gay community. One part of the project, and I do mean "project", was to do outreach and create a safe haven for young minority gays and lesbians to hang out.
Be careful what you ask for.

It was a violent holiday weekend in Chicago, with five men dead and at least 23 people wounded in shootings and stabbings throughout the city since Friday afternoon. The men killed ranged in age from 19 to 25 years old.
That's quite a video.
From the sound of the audio, evidently some of the mommas who were with the attackers were making orgasmic shrieks as they looked on at the beating.
You can hear one of the shitbirds yell out, "Hit 'em in the head".
For all the counrty to see, what a shithole -- all -- Chicago is becomming.

OT: a few years back, an off-duty CPD officer was stabbed by some gang thugs at Deja Vu at Wrightwood/Lincoln. IIRC, the cop did manage to fire a few rounds and wound one of the assailants.

With traffic-choked roadways and budget-busting gas prices, some suburban residents are shunning the difficulties of downtown Chicago for more affordable entertainment closer to home.
Summertime for Mary Dismore of Naperville has always meant weekend getaways with her daughter to downtown Chicago, exploring the city's nooks and crannies and using their memberships to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum and Museum of Science and Industry.
This summer, Dismore says, she and 9-year-old Aila plan to stay closer to home. Their museum memberships? She let them all expire.
"For a while it was fun, but it just became too difficult," said Dismore, 46. "Now when I think about going downtown, I just think about all the hassles."
Whether because of a faltering economy, perceptions of crime or crowds or other factors, the number of people taking day trips to Chicago dropped 11.9 percent between 2009 and 2010, to 13.35 million visitors, according to new data from the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau.

To tell the truth side by side you couldn't tell the difference. These thugs are not part of a civilized society. Tom Tunney was wrong in saying that the group of young blacks were a minority. The latest census taken for the Chicago area proved that whites are now the minority in this city. I think that it's about time to call it what it is, a hate crime.

The reason boystown is so bad is organizations like the nite ministry who have their foot on the neck of working coppers in the past 10 years and beef beef beef.

This was a black-on-black assault.
Channel 7 TV just showed the video of the bloodied victim (face obscured). Shirtless, saggin' in red shorts.
They also interviewed his father (face not obscured). Said the victim attends De Paul and wants to be a doctor.

Was just waiting to turn from southbound Halsted onto eastbound Belmont when about 6-8 minorities starting brawling right there on the street corner, then spilled into the parking lot in from of the Marshall's. I called 911 at approximately 2022 to report this, operator said she would have cars dispatched, i didn't stick around to see (no desire to get caught in the crossfire). Anybody know if anything came of this?
I just saw the 023 district commander on tv. First, where is your uniform representing our department? If you are a uniformed leader, you should be in uniform. Represent the hard working men and women who have, and currently work for this department. Second, I think a leader should look like a leader and be in some sort of good physical condition. I'm not saying in shape to pass a power test, but at least look like you care about your physical appearance.
Heres an idea,more MISSIONS. An 8 hour mission on Halsted will cure the problem. Send all the yuppie Police in to straighten it out. LOL.

Get your alderman's email address and tell him or her that in no uncertain terms to HIRE MORE COPS AND DO IT NOW. Halsted Street and Belmont Ave have increasingly become more ghetto over the past few years. These packs of westside ghetto "boys" troll Halsted and Belmont looking for fights, selling drugs and looking for drunk gay guys to rob. Like clockwork, the robberies begin after the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock bars close. What you see on the video is like every other night on Halsted. Even after the two 4 o'clock bars close on Halsted there will be packs of thugs walking up and down Halsted until 5am. The Alderman refuses to believe that there is a problem, and there is a group that protests the police because they think that the police are targeting these poor gay black troubled youths. So what are you trying to say? I personally have talked to each and every one of the dead guys family. They were ALL just turning thier lifes around. I was assured that NONE of them were in a gang or owned a gun. To prove it to me, they even showed me thier graduation pictures. By I am still wondering why I only saw thier grammer school graduation pictures?

Between you cops relishing the suffering of "liberals" in boystown and the "savages" I don't feel too safe right now in my own neighborhood from either side.
I lived in the area for over 20 years. These kids are not part of the group that meets at the Center on Halsted. They are part of a group that has been wandering around Boystown streets for several years now harrassing residents and visitors. It took someone getting stabbed and a video before it became "news". It is old news to the residents of the area.
One of the assailansts arrested in this today is from HAMMOND.
Unemployed, underpriviileged, "food deserts," or not, they still manage to travel many miles into other states to attack people.
