One Heartbeat Away

Obama knew what he was doing picking Biden for VP - The One almost looks sane by comparison:
  • Raising the specter of labor fights picked by Republican governors with public workers unions across the country, Vice President Joe Biden lambasted what he called an increasingly union-hostile “new” Republican Party in remarks delivered to National Education Association representatives today in Chicago.

“There is an organized effort to place blame for budget shortfalls on educators and other public workers. It is one of the biggest scams in modern American history,” Biden said...
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s new hand-picked Chicago School Board fired a shot across the bow at the Chicago Teachers Union and other school workers on Wednesday, unanimously agreeing the system did not have the money to cover four percent raises worth $100 million.
  • Gov. Pat Quinn said Tuesday that he’s ready for a possible lawsuit from the state’s largest employee union after he moved to block raises for 33,000 workers that were scheduled to go into effect last week.
Yup. Those damn republicans. Working hand in hand with Rahm Emanuel and Pat Quinn to deny unions their negotiated pay raises.

Well can the theft and mockery of the law and the system be any more blatant?

The Governor gives $100 million dollars back to Motorola from tax revenue and then comes up $75 million short for a signed contracted pay raise while playing the victim.

Oh sorry folks -- we're broke!

Laws that are not equally enforced without prejudice are not laws at all.

This is favoritism. The state had the revenue from the corporate tax increases and instead of honoring its obligations they have decided to create a moral hazard instead.

Like the mayors failure to cut the number of alderman as a shared sacrifice this one-sided austerity of hoo-ray for me and eff you is not going to sit well with the taxpayers.

Interesting to say the least. I heard Bidens speech first hand. I was amazed at how these "educated" people took the words of Biden hook line and sinker.

We conservative types, had better be prepared to get the word out or its gonna be another 4 years of this. Cant help but picture detroit on a nation-wide scale.

Well really ..what did you expect when you have "government-sponsored racism" going on ya know?

Where was Obama when the union workers were having their collective bargain rights being taken away ?

Remember this Obama campaign speech? Guess he could not find his comfy shoes huh?

Time to vote change - - again.

You cannot sustain the spending that this country AND Illinois is doing.

Next, they will be asking you to take cuts in your pension. Don't act surprised - it's inevitable.

Politicians are just hypocrites. The only choice you have today when you vote is to pick the best of two jerks. The GOP and Democrats are trying to straighten out the mess left by Wall Street Banksters on our backs. The wealthy are sitting on their money waiting for a recovery and the rest of us are fighting over scraps.

Democrats are stupid. They will believe whatever their leadership tells them, even as their leaders are screwing them and telling them it's the other guys doing it.

That's what happens when you think you're the smartest person in the world and you could never be wrong. They're all so smart because they're liberals and liberals are the only ones in the world who could possibly be right about anything.

How's that hope and change working out for you? Dumb asses.

Dems are NOT pro-union. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk, therefore they are more dangerous than any Republican. At least the Repubs let you know where they stand.

The Dems will say, "here, stand on this rug, it's safe." Then presto, they will pull it out from under you, leaving you bouncing on your bum.

Thank you SCC!
I was wondering when someone was going to mention this. Crazy how Biden spend a shit load of money to blame Republicans for Union issues, when here in Illinois its the Democrats baiting the media, and plans to screw those here in this once great city. Jersey Governor is no republican. like Political Democrats, he's after the Free-Loader vote, the non working, welfare baby vote. Just like Obama, Quinn, Rham. And this new School Board Chief? just another outsider to control.

The NEA, the largest teachers union in the country has blindly endorsed Obama for 2012! Nobody has any idea who the Republican candidate will be, the teachers are for Obama. Ignoring the fact that Obama appointed Duncan, the former head of Chicago Public Schools as the head of the Education Department. Duncan's record is one of being anti-union,and pro-Charter Schools. Democrats have become like Soviet Era Communists, who will follow the Party Line at any cost. It is really sad to see what has become the Democrat Party of the 21st Century: Limousine Liberals, Wealthy Special Interests and Career Welfare Recipients with their hands in working folks' pockets! An absolute sham and shame.

Union curbs rescue a Wisconsin school district

"But after the law went into effect, at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, school officials put in place new policies they estimate will turn that $400,000 deficit into a $1.5 million surplus. And it's all because of the very provisions that union leaders predicted would be disastrous."

I, like most cops, tend to lean more to the right. But if you think republicans aren't out for your pensions you better think again. Its everywhere, but the states with republican governors like wisconsin and ohio are all about taking away collective bargaining for cops and firemen. Quinn is a nut, but I think he actually means well. He's just crazy.

This same crap happens in Wisconsin and everyone revolts. It happens here and because the democrats are running things (or should I say ruining things) everyone takes their opinion as gospel. This is starting to get rigoddamndiculous.
The democrats in this city and state are so freaking corrupt. Millions of dollars are being wasted every minute and as long as they tell the poor people that they are doing their best to keep them from working and taking care of themselves----er I mean help them---they will continue to get the ignorant vote. i am not saying that people on public aid are ignorant or dumb, but it is easy to persuade someone when your dangling a free bagged lunch for their kids in front of their face.

Check out the small column or online in the Trib re: the number and salaries (and taxes due) of the Predident's White House staffers by Andrew Malcolm. Seems all the numbers are UP from the previous administration.

....and when was this info released.....on the Friday before a three-day weekend! Don't think they wanted the great unwashed (taxpayers) to see this.

The obvious difference here between the Republicans and Democrats is that the Republicans are saying to your face-We don't have the money. We need to make cuts. The Democrats are saying-For shame on those Republicans, they want to make the rich, richer....while a fellow democrat sneaks around your backside and sticks you with a knife. Quinn and Co., like to pick and choose who pays what in taxes rather than having it equal for all....what scumbags.

What's cheaper for the state? denying the raises or fighting the ensuing lawsuits?

meanwhile, governor dim quinn is taking money designated for nonprofit organizations (which people gave through their tax returns).

this is what happens when 40 percent of the electorate votes, and only 20 percent are choosing the leaders. . . .

democracy? autocracy? hypocrisy?

The nation is suffering from a political buyers remorse.

People get all hyped up wanting to believe in the political lies that are told during the campaigns and later become disenfranchised.

Yeah Obama is a failure to his party however so was Bush and so both political parties have been hijacked and I blame the corporate lobbyist and the supreme court that allowed corporate lobbyist to be view the same as an average taxpayer when it comes to campaign contributions.

For example, you will not convince me that Bush was a conservative even though he wore the Republican label. The Bush spending on the Medicare drug plan made him spend like a democrat. If you look at the number of people collecting food stamps in the year 2000 it was about 18 million people (frac.org). The caseloads grew every single year since 2000 and at a faster rate then the population growth to where we stand now at approx 54 million people.

Point being let's not get all high and mighty about the republican vs democrat thing and my side it better.

Obama on the other hand is a failure and while he talks of standing by labor like a democrat he was no-where to be found as the governor of Wisconsin attacked the unions and took away their collective bargaining rights.

Bush one was noted for "read my lips -- no new taxes" during his campaign and later we all got a tax increase.

Obama said he was going to close Gitmo -- has that happened yet?

You can go tit for tat all day long with these politician lies. Until the people start holding them accountable it's never going to change.

Obama said he did not take the job in Washington to bail out a bunch of fat cat bankers yet that is exactly what he has done several trillion dollars later and counting.

Bush push HUD programs for housing and under his watch the regulators look the other way as the housing market blew up in the nations face. The problems continue under Obama.

The way I see it the republicans are not acting like republicans and the democrats are not acting like democrats in the traditional sense because both parties have been hijacked by corporate campaign funds that decide who gets place on the ballots.

Yeah, conspiracy theory non-sense right, but how else would you explain it.

These candidates represent the corporations and not the people because that's where their money comes from plain and simple.

The money is enough to make conservative republicans and liberal democrats sell out their core values

Yeah and how much did it cost the taxpayers to block off every single expressway ramp and portions of the downtown area again on Biden's arrival.

At first when I seen the ramps blocked I thought that it was all due to Burke wanting to go downtown for dinner or something -- buy no, it was only Biden and not one of our important VIP alderman.

The Democrats need and WANT the Union money...period.
The Democrats will say the Repubs are union breakers. Unions are cutting back and it's members & staff are feeling the o'Bama bite.
RahmShanks may say Chicago teachers won't get their contractual 4%, but OBongo will promise otherwise. I expect CPS will get their raise, their contract expires (with ours) June 30, 2012 and the DNC needs their support.

But the teachers and other unions who all gave OBongo & JellyQuinn the endorsement.... how do you like The Change?

yeah, wow. I've been saying this for MONTHS. Wisconsin liberals and hippies are getting all pissy because of their "busted union" where everyone got pay cuts because of those damned republicans. Then Raham and Quinn pull their crap where the people losing out got to see THEIR raises go to less deserving people. Republican Jedi Mind tricks...
