Suspect Questioned

  • A 24-year-old prison inmate is being questioned in the 2010 slaying of Chicago Police Officer Michael Bailey, sources told the Tribune tonight.

The man was sent to prison Downstate after his arrest last September on vehicular hijacking and weapons charges. At that time, he had been on parole following a 2009 conviction for aggravated battery to a peace officer and a 2008 drug conviction.

The man has not been charged in the officer’s killing, and no one is officially calling him a suspect.
Because the Detectives will always make a trip downstate or bring a suspect up north just because they think he deserves a change of scenery.

Keep up the great work and keep plugging away Detectives. Cross the T's and dot the I's.

What a stellar citizen. He should never have been out on the street.

Nice, a 2009 cinviction of aggravated battery to a police officer and he was already out on the street in 2010 to murder a police officer. Hey Anita Alvarez why don't you start doing your job? Somehow I believe if it were aggravated battery to a judge or politician this thug would still be in jail!

Looks like this creep did the same thing over and over for a living. Here we have an honest hard working cop ready to retire and gets gunned down in front of his home. There is no punishment that will satisfy this crime.

Long sentences and no parole for violent crimes, even first offenses and even for juvenile offenders, would go a LONG way toward making us safer and less paranoid. In this I have always been in full agreement with those on the right side of the fence.

I think that anyone, even a juvenile, who can coldly commit a battery, armed robbery, rape, carjacking etc is, sadly, irredeemable and needs to be treated as such.

I also firmly believe in asking WHY such predators arise and addressing the causes - to ignore causes is ridiculous - but those already on that road are gone from the human tribe and the rest of us need to be protected from them.

The 17 year old "honor student" from Calumet City who pushed the old lady down the stairs and killed her at the Fullerton El stop in March was in jail for another crime also. Can we push him down the same stairs? Oh no! That would be cruel and harsh punishment. This won't end until we start using frontier justice again and met out punishment swiftly. Jude Roy Bean of the Old West didn't fudge around. No appeals....right to the nearest tree!

This county is a fucking joke. Yeah, Anita YOU were instrumental in bringing Officer Bailey's killer to justice. YOU were.

The Crook County States Attorney office has a real knack of screwing up cases. Now we have a young lady stabbed and murdered at her front door by a neighbor in the early 1990's. The parents of the slain girl stated that police had DNA of the neighbor who was never arrested and went on to murder 2 other women in California. Now Alverez is doing the Crook County "Shuffle" with the media to protect former SA Devine. Devine was her boss at the SA.

Ya, Ya Charged ? what about convictions, That's the name of the game. The biggest loser was that dope republican fron DuPage County who is now a politically appointed judge. He lost more big cases and never won an election beside States Attorney of Du Page County. He even lost a case against two Chicago Cops that he trumped up just to show everyone how honest he is and that he will pros anyone who he thinks breaks the law. What a chump, he lost the case. He lost most of the big profile cases in Dupage. I hope his judgement is better as a judge than a States Attorney

The only problem with Mike Shields comment is that it's a lie. Anita Alvarez isn't on vacation. She is at a conference for 3 days to train people on prosecuting child molesters. Also, even the detectives who are working the case agree that there is more stuff to be done so we don't end up with another Det. Soto case that was charged too early only to be dismissed within days. Shields and the "unnamed source", if you are going to say something, it would be nice if it was true.

Yeah...Another welfare baby does good...

and guess what?

Since 2000 the food stamp caseloads have gone from about 18 million to about 44.5 million (today as of the latest count nationally.)

The federal and state polices on things like so-called "free trade" are NOT working and are cranking out the welfare babies faster than you can jump down, turn-around and pick a bail of cotton.

One in seven people are now on food stamps and ONE IN FIVE are reported as food insecure (per frac.org).

One in five people is 20% of the population that is reporting problems with putting food on the table!

In Illinois alone the food stamp caseload which is a measure of poverty has risen from under 500K in 2000 to over 1.8 million today.

How's that political job creation b.s. going eh? That's a triple in ten years. Do the math!

Don't fall for the smoke screen of jobs and unemployment numbers that the media uses to imply wealth and economic growth.

Ask what kind of jobs are being created -- what do they pay?

For every "welfare baby" that you bust the political apparatus current policies of handing out government welfare tax breaks to reward corporations for off shoring living wage jobs creates at least ten more "welfare babies " to take that ones place.

This is not meant to excuse the behavior at all, I'm just saying it is what it is.

Some will argue that you need to get a better education and pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

It's a common mindset among the boomer generation. They did it and expect anyone else to be able to do it.

Nevertheless times are different.

Look at the recent college grad stats. 86% of the grads are moving back home because they have no living wage job opportunities regardless of the degree they now hold. 50% unemployed...google it!

Desperate people do desperate things and the powers that be better get a handle on this like RIGHT NOW!

Moral bankruptcy.

Look at the recent headlines from the political crooks.

As Quinn negotiates yet another million dollar state tax break for the corporations

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-biz-0702-tax-rates,0,4264464.story

that are indirectly funded by stealing funds from taxpayer charity donations..

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-illinois-borrowing-tax-funds-intended-for-charities-20110626,0,1028067.story

We read this:

July 8 (Bloomberg) -- Caterpillar Inc. used offshore subsidiaries in Switzerland and Bermuda to avoid about $2 billion in U.S. taxes from 2000 to 2009, boosting its earnings through a "tax and financial statement fraud," according to a Caterpillar executive's lawsuit.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2011/07/07/bloomberg1376-LNO0QJ0D9L3501-6IDPITDNP89AQMNFM7SH6QB7JJ.DTL

That's okay though as we can just demonize the unions and take the lost tax revenue money from the unions, the pensions, the teachers instead...they're an easy mark.

You are a stroke. Soto case was dismissed, not because it was charged too early, but because POS witnesses; which we can't change. It was what it was. Did the SOA go after those witnesses who 'flipped' their testimony? NO! You must work in CMO or in Review, you stroke!!

*****************************

no, a detective who knows how to properly run an investigation. The ones who were beefing to the sun times, to the fop and to this site were the p.os who casually spoke to detectives while bulls*itting then spread the word that the case would not be charged and blew it WAY out of proportion. It wasnt the detectives who were crying about this to the paper or anyone else. Officers, when you are talking to detectives about an open case and they tell you things they are telling you in confidence and to have conversation... not to spread it around and go tell everyone else. this case IS being handled as it should and the detectives involved know it and agree with what the state is saying...and it has nothing to do with a press conference.

Why is this conference on child molesters being held in Hawaii? How about Baltimore or Pittsburgh. These "conferences" are VACATIONS. Couldn't Alverez use teleconferencing to give her two bits on the subject. Maybe she could enlighten the conference as to why the parolee molester creep was on our lakefront last weekened snatching a little boy. I guess the kid wasn't important to Anita or this scumbag would be in jail for not registering his address. Alverez has been in the SA office for a long time and knows how to play the system. Shows how much repect she has for the police and the citizens.

Get your facts straight. The Soto case was solved and the jagoff who killed him walked due to witnesses being intimidated and threatened. Witnesses even made up bullshit stories to get J-Rock out. Justice will be served for Soto, it's still in the works.
