This is exactly the type of reform we could get behind. Disband a useless "Area" consisting of two districts and without a single detective assigned to it. It also eliminates a few gold star spots and associated office staff.

Now it's time to assign Captains as Commanding Officer of District patrol , Lts assigned as shift supervisor , no more watch commanders , sgts supervise all field operations , disband tactical units , if shift supervisor sees a need for undercover operations he can assign officers from his shift.

The Central Control Group (CCG) was essentially a sixth area, but it wasn't the sixth area. In rmd's mind it came before Area 1, so it must have been Area 0, followed by Areas 1 through 5. And rmd annointed the biggest zero of all to run it, JK of Car 47 fame.

nah, I would say leave 012 especially since the animal is moving back into the cha's that just opened a few months ago.. besides there are more useless places that can be absorbed into other districts like 013! split 013 between 011, 012 and 014. No need at all for the 13th district. Nothing goes on anymore and could be one of the quietest districts in the city...
The CCG spot in the doc was the biggest joke. It doesn't take much of an analyst to put the doc in Cabrini Green. Yes, the analyst at the doc were not the sharpest tool in the shed. Danny don't cry you are well connected. The lieutenant will find an easier spot for you.
If they brought to light the clouted, redundant and useless units created in every city Dept during the Daley Administration it would infuriiate the taxpayers. Most of these were used to payback the Tommy Byrnes, Picardi's etc. This was an EXCELLANT move by Supt McCarthy.
CCG was utterly useless. Originally created to respond to the "unique" circumstances facing "downtown" after 9/11 they never received their heavy artillery and air units to defend the skyline of Chicago. What a shame, more cushy jobs eliminated!!!

The Supt is requesting applications for Commander by this Friday. Applicants must be Capt or Lieut with 10 yrs on and 1 yr in rank with a Bachelors degree but the biggest joke is the applicant must have a letter of recommendation from a commander or above. The list shows how many recommendations and which boss gets them. Once again the clouted merit hacks who get picks (Ladner types) will pick other clouted hacks to "pull up the chain"

Seriously, I don't think we need more beat cars answering jobs. Answering jobs only prevents a RAP. These RAPS usually occur because beat officers don't code their jobs in a timely fashion. Let's be honest: Most jobs are a 19p. Supervisors should crack down on those officers who are riding jobs. We need to concentrate on solving the problem like refusing to take the ridiculous calls in the first place. Command needs to do that.
As for the Tact teams, I think it's good if they keep locking up these scumbags. Nickel bag, DOWP, Gambling, keep it coming. If they're locked up, even for a couple of hours, they can't be on the street slingin, acting a fool or shooting.

FYI 12 is getting a new station on Blue Island. 021 and 013 need to be closed. 021 is a cess pool. Asbestos, flooded locker room every year, toilet water all over the place and only 14-15 officers total on first watch every night. Someone needs to call OSHA on that place.

The reason that tact is there is because the uniforms (NOT ALL, repeat, NOT ALL) are not doing he job of locking up pissers, drinkers and loose square guys. Now you want tact guys to go into uniform and do the job that you are supposed to be doing.

All of the K9 officers were assigned to unit 253 (MSF) so when they disbanded them, they had to put all of the people from K9 into a new unit so it looked like a lot of people went to K9 from MSF, but they were already K9 officers to begin with.

Word is this isn't the last of it. Heard a rumor, emphasis on rumor, but from a reliable source, that Narcotics is next on the chopping block. Two long term teams, two short term teams are to remain, everyone else is going to be assigned to "District Narcotics Teams." This is very similar to the "NYPD" style. SNEU is Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit and they come out of the precincts (districts). Again, not written in stone, but a solid rumor.
I have seen more back stabbing and riding out jobs by the beat cars than any other officers. Clear the job and move on. There is nothing that's says beat guys can't make arrests, so go make them. Who cares about RAPS? The barking dog can wait.
That means what is the scheme of things? Maybe a couple of commanders will be reshuffled around same pay easier job? Their excessive staff will be moved to a comfortable position? Means nothing as we wear a Blue shirt and try our best to help the taxpayers by keeping the scum in check!

You're apparently not up on current events, pal. When was the last time applications for canine handlers was out? That's right, years ago. Those officers have been canine handlers for years. They were sent to the different units (according to their dog's training - drugs, dope, etc) that utilized them the most so that they wouldn't be running all over the city.
When those units were disbanded, they all went back to the Canine unit.

Seriously, I don't think we need more beat cars answering jobs. Answering jobs only prevents a RAP. These RAPS usually occur because beat officers don't code their jobs in a timely fashion. Let's be honest: Most jobs are a 19p. Supervisors should crack down on those officers who are riding jobs. We need to concentrate on solving the problem like refusing to take the ridiculous calls in the first place. Command needs to do that.

In my defense, 1 of the suits, all I did was come over the radio and tell OEMC that I was riding on the job to back up another unit. So, I was named on the law Suit. Three other times all came from the same event, but 3 different offenders, and I was on the case report, not on the arrest report. So, actually I believe my police manner is ok, just a very litigious community in this city/county/country. I'm sure nine times is not the record, but ok if you think so I guess I hold the record.

Why do we have tact Lts in charge of only 3 sgts, area Lt in charge of gang teams , another area Lt in charge of 2 sgts and Lts moving around in dists at time and a half because they are short ?

No they did not bring back K-9 officers that were assigned to special units. there are 3 K9 officers assigned to Narcotics, all were Petersons' people and all are completely useless, that's right all 3. We are severely short in K9 and they are attempting to put 9 more into training but it has to be approved by city counsel. they put 4 new officers into service last week, now if we could only get some of the dog asses that K9 has motivated things could be a little better, but years back the crybabies sued the city and won, now they hang it over the heads of everyone. The midnight Sergeant is a joke and has no balls to supervise and makes the other 3 of us look bad. IK wish I could retire but I can't so I just chug along. Now Ed, try to guess which one of us is unhappy, or is it all 3 of us. Yes K9 has it made and yet they cry. Love you all and Stay Safe.

Relax Hair gel, you motherf's don't bring anything good either most of you guys and gals in plain clothes are nothing but gofers for the Tact Lt. (one baggers, CTTL, pissers, etc.) and stop bringing in bums (easy arrests by the way) as far as I'm concerned, Beat officers are the hardest hit with backlogs up the ying-yang every night especially on fast districts. You Hair Gels on plain clothes units are the ones scared of coming back to Beat, so stop complaining also.

Riddle me this Sargent. How can a sergeant in K9 be crying? Come supervise in a district, then, you may have something to cry about.
Back in the late 80's the department started SNIP, street narcotics impract program. It was like an area narcotic team focusing only on dope corners in those specific districts.
In early 90's they brought SNIP over to the narcotic unit, which only had about 80 people in it at the time. The narcotic unit obviously doubled, and quadrupled under Cline.

Hey Dumb-shit, read the 013th District crime statistics. 013 has recently lead the city in property crime rate of increase for almost two years. This increase is due largely to the knuckle heads who feel secure leaving GPS units on the dashboard, and laptops visible on a rear seat. They buy shitty town homes next door to a dope house, too! Layer the ambivalent attitude of the clueless 013th Dist coppers and you have a real upward trend in crime stats.
A/3 will need many additional Dick's... And not just the merit know it all time for a smoke kid kind, it's going to need some that actually know what the hell they are doing.
