Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis says Mayor Rahm Emanuel “exploded” at her during a conversation in his office about his signature longer-school-day effort, pointing his finger at her, yelling and telling her, “F--- you, Lewis.”
“I just want to call it immense disrespect for me and the Chicago Teachers Union,’’ Lewis told the Chicago Sun-Times Friday. “I didn’t appreciate the way he talked to me.
“My father never talked to me like that. My husband’s never talked to me like that.”
Rahm views all unions as political obstacles to be destroyed on his march for the White House. Plain and simple. He's a democrat, but will destroy unions if it serves his purpose. He pretends to be "everyman," but made almost $20 million it what could charitably be called an insider deal. In short, a typical two-faced Chicago politico on the look out for the next big thing.
At least Shortshanks knew his limitations and stayed mayor forever. Rahm has dreams. And his road to that dream is littered with the corpses of anyone who gets in his way.

Rahm already was as close to the Oval Office as he will ever get. He may have dreams, but he has absolutely 0% chance at ever becoming the President. Just imagine that you make a stop and arrest an offender. The camera in your vehicle pointed at the back seat is operating as is the audio. The arrestee becomes mouthy or may even spit at you. Is he free from any type of review of his actions or discipline for his lack of self control? You bet. The only recourse is the jury of public opinion and voting in the next election. As this little Napoleonic dwarf begins to feel his oats, you will see more and more of this behavior. It should be noted that in the 2 reported incidents, the ballerino's victims have been women, Mary Ann Ahern and Karen Lewis. There needs to be changes in salary and benefits for all employees which make up most of the budgets of the city. Blame whoever you wish for this state of mess, but it is here. The blame game will also not solve the problem. you might not like Rahm as a person, but he seems to be focused on heading off a financial collapse. CPS is and has been for many years unreasonalble in their demands. This goes for the trade unions as well. The public opinion is not on the side of the unions in this matter.

He blew his top because the union keeps throwing out nonsense instead of having a serious discussion about lengthening the school day.
The only people who view this as babysitting are the uninvolved parents who already see teachers as babysitters. Everyone else realizes that our kids are failing and desperately need more instructional time.
Things will become much more intense for every union in Chicago.
Strong leadership and unity is a must.

Coppers have to put up with more guff, almost to the point of physical harm, for much less money than 9.5 and yet the expectation is that because the tax payers "pay their salary," (same as 9.5) but 9.5 get's a pass because he's "showing those teachers who's boss?"
People would scream and cry about "out of control Police" if Coppers were given a pass to "let it all hang out" like Rahm...

Five cops killed last year, flash mobs, beaches closed because thugs are running wild (I mean the heat,) and shootings every day.
This city likes to throw out numbers and say crime is down again, but the average person sees that all those figures are bullshit and they are, in fact, less safe on the streets today.
When the city wants us to do more with less, we need to point out that it makes our job a lot more dangerous to do and that we should be compensated for that risk.
