Like Trained Dogs

  • The City Council today backed Mayor Rahm Emanuel's push to get Gov. Pat Quinn to sign off on a major gambling expansion that would bring a casino to Chicago.

One after another stood up to say a casino would bring new jobs and generate $20 million a month or so that Emanuel has pledged to use to rebuild the city.

It's almost like the Daley's never left. One might believe Rahm offered the aldercreatures a better percentage of the skim.

Save the city millions by cutting the amount of Alderman in city counsel down to at least 26 positions for the entire city. You wanna make an example for government Rham, well there is a real idea. But, I'am sure you don't have the balls to so it.

Daley couldn't get a casino done in 21 years. Rahm is getting it done. How? Is he deeper in bed with Madigan/Cullerton? This is wild. But I do hope it puts all the suburban 'boats' out of business. Screw it, if gummint is going to cut taxes to the bone, let's have a tax on people dumb enough to gamble. And it's good for the environment: all that gas not spent driving to Hammond and Joliet. The losers can take the El home.

Isn't the new casino in Rosemont empty after the grand opening?

Not implying it is, but I swear I heard someone saying it was small and "nothing special."

Maybe the drink prices were insane, something like >$10 USC

Rahm was chief of staff to ObaMAO when he said that he would like one day to be the mayor of Chicago. Next thing you know, Shortshanks says he's not running, Rahm is a resident again, Bill Daily takes Rahm's chief of staff spot in Washington and all the aldercreatures keep their spots and their raises to rubber stamp bullshit ideas.

Daley keeps his body guard detail and millions in political funds that he got grandfathered into, collects pension benefits that are EIGHT times what cops get, becomes a senior fellow at the University of Chicago where the first lady had a no show job paying six figures, her cousin comes off a leave of absence with CPS and all is well in Chicago.

Now tell me, how is it that cops, firefighters and teachers are the ones breaking the bank?

They transplanted Daley's heart into Rahm....

Wait, Daley didn't have a heart and Rahm doesn't use one..

Disregard

If the management at Rivers would have put in a poker room i think they'd see a bigger influx of people. A poker room is virtually free money because all the casino has to do is have dealers available...any those essentially get paid from the rake..its like its own little TIF!

Per Illinois Gaming Board website the casino in Des Plaines has Adjusted Gross Revenues of 1.25 million a day. Every day. That's profit before they pay tax to state.

Daley II as i recall stated as long as he was mayor, there would be no chicago casino. Now that Shortshanks son and nephews are old enough to have learned and perfected the art of clouted politically connected thievery, mayo light finger klepto is all for the casino. Pity, fitzgerald, was in all the shennanigins. Rhammy, makes 18 million in the banking/mortgage/energy business, because he's such an expert in the field. He knew how to skim the millions before the industry was brought to its knees, along with this great country. patrick"batters up"daley, becomes an astute russian business man, who makes 400, 000, on city connected businesses, against his dads own ethics policy and still making a killing of the public aid provided by the chicago tax payer. patricks russian buddy owning 300 taxi medallions, buying them all with hard work and parlaying 1 russian ruble into millions in shitcago. One vanecko getting away with murder, the other responsible for the killing of 63million in police pension monies, and pocketing 3 million for his ineptitude, nora,in charge of mcpier, will be in charge of the structure housing said casino. Funny, how they are pushing so hard for this casino, with the lack of fiscal and political transparency. The citizens of chicago should ask for a referendum for the next election, asking 2/3 of revenue be used to shore up pensions and balance the city budget. Siphoned tax dollars, aka TIF (1billion by the end of year) already used by connected developers, can be used to fix infrastructure, schools, and other necessary public works.

Alderfolks are such loathsome creatures. They will beg and sit up on their hind legs to get favors from whomever sits on the 5th floor. One exception is that Rahm is much better at screwing you and make you think it is good for you.

Notice Eddie Burke talked trash about the Teachers Union. He almost sounds like Rahm. Any wonder Burke will keep his body guards, his top committee in the council, and no questions about all his connected deals that steal millions from taxpayers. Burke is nothing but a corrupt immoral whore willing to sleep with anyone for a buck.

Funny how nobody talks about helping our underfunded pension. Rahm was happy to talk about it when he was campaigning...in fact he said he'd like the casino revenue stream to help the pension funds.
Now that he got elected the prick says any casino money would not go to any prior debts or obligations.
He thinks like the ghetto dwellers that he panders to...the heck with those prior obligations and bills let's buy some new stuff.
Rahm you're a two faced asshole.

WRT: "...Now tell me, how is it that cops, firefighters and teachers are the ones breaking the bank?

9/09/2011 05:43:00 AM"

==================================

And let's follow the money trail of this great jobs program too!

The taxpayers get a 2% break on their individual social security FICA payroll tax from Washington to stimulate the economy. Instead of taking 6.2% of your earnings for FICA taxes they drop it to 4.2%

For a person earning $50,000/year that's $1,000 a year more in take home pay.

However...No sooner than that FICA tax break is approved the state of Illinois rushes though a 2% state income tax increase -- the state income tax went from 3% to 5% thereby wiping the federal FICA tax break completely out!

Coincidence? I doubt it!

Nevertheless, they moved fast so the tax break never really showed up on peoples paychecks figuring there will be less outrage that way as you'll never miss what you never had right?

Then the Illinois Governor runs over to places like Motorola Mobility because he has money now (and others) and offers his friends there all kinds of tax break money under the banner that it will save jobs.

Fast forward a month or two later and Motorola Mobility is sold and all bets are off on the jobs deal...

so where's the money now?

Where's the FICA taxpayers tax break money now -- the money that is suppose to be increasing purchasing power and creating demand for jobs?

All I know is that we the people in Illinois haven't seen a dime of it.

No wonder there is no job stimulus in Illinois.

The Illinois politico's are stimulating their campaign contribution friends who they pick and choose with our retirement money.

The money went from the FICA soc sec system to the state of Illinois and then to the corporations that the politico's decided should get a tax break.

Don't tell me how we are all in this together!

A year from now... mark my words. We will hear about a soc. sec crisis and the cause will be implied to be the FICA payroll tax break we allegedly are getting today.

Then we will either have higher payroll taxes to pay the money back or benefit cuts or a combination of both. And we will be told that they gave us the money, what did we do with it? That we should of saved it.

We'll see.

A raping not much different than what has happened to the cities union pensions no?

It's pretty obvious that there's a transfer of wealth going on and it's not flowing in the commonly assumed direction of the welfare poverty- stricken people. Just follow the money.

What away to generate cash! How bout bringing back the jobs that left Chicago in the 1980's? Rehm, Campbell's soup, Schwin, US Steel, Republic Steel, Solo Cup, American Can, and I could go on and on. These companies not only left Chicago they went to Mexico, China, even to Pakistan and the best our elected ones can come up with is gambling.
