Start Growing Your Hair

Well, maybe not this soon, but St. Baldrick's is coming up quick:
  • Once again, the St. Baldrick's Organization has requested the assistance of the men and women of the Chicago Police Department in 2012. For those unfamiliar, St. Baldrick's is an organization that raises money that goes towards research of a cure for childhood cancer. Participants agree to shave their heads in support of the kids who lose their hair in chemo treatments, and seek pledges for doing so. Participants with longer hair are also able to donate hair longer than 12" to be used by "Locks of Love" to make wigs for the patients that do lose their hair.

The 2012 event will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Training Academy, Area 2, and Area 5 and we’re very excited because if we stay on pace with previous year’s fund-raising totals, we should surpass $500,000 raised to help stop this terrible disease that affects so many!

Please go to www.stbaldricks.org and under "find an event" type in Chicago Police in the venue box and choose your location. If you are returning from last year, simply use your login information and click on register for 2012’s event.

Should you have any questions or want to find out about volunteer opportunities, please contact: Bill O'Reilly for the Academy event at chromedome1269@sbcglobal.net, Bill Murphy for the Area 2 event at 50murf@comcast.net, and Anne Zamzow for the Area 5 event at anne.zamzow@chicagopolice.org.

Thanks for reading and we look forward to a great turnout and going past that $500,000 mark on the 23rd.

Bill O'Reilly, Bill Murphy and Anne Zamzow
Their target this year is to break the $500,000 mark. With enough lead time and plenty of participants, we're sure they can manage it.

Great cause and great people running it. I know both Bill's, salt of the earth guys, who always buy a ticket or support an officer in need. I hope we make the 500G this year.

This is a great cause to participate in. St Balricks funds more pedeatric cancer research than any other organization second only to the US Government. I am a father of a cancer survivor, my daughter Sara was diagnosed with stage 4 wilms tumor in 2008 and I am happy to say she is now cancer free. This kids are true survivors!!
Thanks to all that participate or donate

Yes, the Area 2 event will be held in the 22nd District.

Details will be forthcoming and we hope that you will find the 22nd District location accommodating to your schedule.

Hope to shave your head there!
