More Info on G-8
Once again, the city trying to do things on the cheap:
- Hey Second City Cop, suburban copper here and it's true, the City of Chicago will not indemnify anyone that is not CPD.
Most suburban agencies extended the olive branch knowing full well that CPD would need help once the G8 summit arrived. CPD advised The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS)of this who in turn related this information to the Chiefs of the various agencies representing ILEAS. Those Chiefs basically said fuck that and will not allow any officers to respond.
In total there are 822 officers from 245 different agencies represented on ILEAS Teams. There equipment alone could help: 13 mobile command posts, nine armored vehicles and a host of other specialty vehicles provided at no cost to various agencies in Illinois. Agencies receiving this equipment agreed to maintain it and provide it during large state or regional emergencies if necessary.
Trust me, I'm not part of ILEAS, I just hate to see officers being put in harms way when it can easily be prevent or even greatly reduced. CPD stay safe and keep your heads up.....
Another suburban officer reports that furloughs and time off will be restricted in May for his and other agencies, just in case the city comes to its senses and needs emergency help. We certainly can foresee that being the case in short order.

From what I understood about what was said at the G8 training at the academy, this is the FED'S baby because of the importance of those coming to Chicago during that time and that they got it covered. Can anyone explain? This does seem to be a national interest more than a Chicago interest therefore the FEDS should indemnify, no?

We know suburban officers would come and help in a heartbeat, but some miserable lawyer under his fluorescent light doesn't want you here.
Forget about Chicago -- go ahead and schedule your vacations, etc. just as usual.

All time off is already cancelled in our suburban department, so at this point it doesn't matter whether we're indemnified. Most here are looking forward to the overtime. The feds will bear the heaviest burden. Cant afford to make obama's home town look bad in an election year.
To all officers outside of shitcago, we appreciate your concern and your willingness to back us up as brother officers. But we (unclouted blue shirts and some white shirts) don't want to see any of you guys have your lives disrupted or any one get hurt because of the FU decisions and mismanagement of this city and department. In the end the city would just throw you and your department under the bus when the shit hits the fan. Sit back and let the city burn.

If Chicago goes up what message is sent to the rest of the country's thugs? Maybe that is the plan; then call in the military, invoke marshal law and since the country is in such turmoil, by golly, suspend the presidential election so we can hope for 4 more years!
Regarding indemnification: it's not the City's decision to make.
Why wont CFD not be standing with CPD in case of any injuries to POs..Officers have been told at G8 training that CFD has not signed on to the plan to provide Paramedics for Medical support...WTF..All the Paramedics I have spoken to want to be there for CPD again ..WTF
ILEAS has a mobile field force that has a reputation nationwide. In fact, many suburban officers were sent to Pittsburgh for the G20 summit a few years back. I'm sure most of these coppers would be happy to help.

Most dont have a clue as to what we deal with day in and day out. I know lots of burb cops and all are nice guys but ALL wish they were CPD. The work isnt there for them to be real police or their bosses dont let them be. What we should be doing is training ourselves for this and calling in other major cities for help...cities that have our problems. Again no offense but I do not really want to be standing next to and fighting with a guy from Naperville PD or Harwood heights. I want to be with a guy from 011 015 007, who has been through the "shit" again i dont mean to be an asshole...just being honest...and alot of coppers feel this way

Hell the city won't back up it's own department. Why would they back up an outside agency willing to come here and help. As far as the G-8/NATO summit, if they decide to burn the city down, the only thing I'm doing is bringing marshmallows to roast. Any action taken, even if you are 100 percent right is going to be stuck up your ass.
Heads up to our suburban partners. You'll end up as the front line defense as the CPD does not have riot gear. If given the choice tell Rahmy to fuck off. As for all cpd &cfd be sure the iod's are reported correctly so when we sue it just a matter of paper work. Now if there are any civilians reading this spread the word. Chicago is woefully understaffed & unprepared for whats coming in may. You will be forced to defend yourselves. The good thing about that is you only face charges for defending your self if your the police.
Bring in the National Guard or better yet, hire the 2,643 officers we're short. Add the 30 or so each month until May and that puts us close to 2,800 short. This city is going to go up! And if a single officer gets hurt, its mainly raccoon eyes Rahm to blame. A little blame should go to Mcarthy too.
The city cant hire po's for the G8 What don't you understand that they wouldn't be out of the academy by May. They cannot hire recruits for the G8 and if they lowered the academy time, they would have untrained po's out on the street in a riot.
All I read on the blogs are hire more police for G8, it ain't gonna happen, so the CPD is going to have to deal with the G8 with its current manpower.

I don't know if you are serious or trolling but as a CPD member who worked in the burbs before let me tell you it aint all traffic. Try working in Harvey, Maywood, Bellwood, Broadview, Dolton and a whole lot of other places 10-99. You midnight shift may have 3 Officers and you closest back-up is the next town over. I have a lot of friends in the burbs who have been through the "shit" and I would gladly work a car with them anywhere any day.
So save your big City Copper B.S. for the Bar. A real copper can wear any uniform and I have seen through the years not all CPD are real Coppers.

You apparently are the only "real Police " out here. The suburban cops may not deal with the shit in in 011,015 etc, on a daily basis but they are still the police. They deal with these assholes we see as well just not as frequently. They also have the equipment, turtle suits, hats N bats etc to help out.
I would love to see ILEAS or any and all other multi jurisdictional teams from the state give a hand. This city and dept are run by assholes and halfwits who for the most part should nOt have gotten promoted to the spot they are in.

I work right outside the city, hey asshole who is mr cpd tough guy we have a lot of men who have FOUGHT in our current wars, maybe that is a qualification dick head. Thank god 99 % of CPD I encounter/met/know are good genuine people and cops. As much as I respect CPD and all cops I can't remember ever having a conversation saying I want to join your ranks. To the "Real Police". You are a very misguided. I am not CPD and I respect each and every one of you for what you do, much like I respect every police officer, regardless of the agency. I imagine you have about 5 years on and before this job, you lived in the suburbs and all your life were a bully. Well I have good news for you son, Its all yours! your on your own comic book hero! The City has advised ILEAS that our assistance is not needed, abd they will NOT indemnify any agencies to cover these events. So you got your wish five year wonder! You and all your other salty vets from class 07-2C will be just fine!
Hopefully some REAL police and I know quite a few fine, dedicated men and women in your organization will give you a proper "mentoring" session in light of your remarks.

It is being called by the experts as the "Perfect Storm". The weather will be turning warm. The usual radicals will come to tear shit up. They know this is in Cook County, IBonds for everybody! CPD cannot handle the job alone. 1 day training is not enough. ILEAS sends their troops to the CDP in Anniston, Al. for a 3 day course with 2 additional 3 day courses, for no charge and ot payback. Its not going to be pretty. It will certainly show who was not prepared and heads will roll. Rahm to use iron-fist authority to deal with NATO|G8 protestors
Emanuel2Democrat Mayor Rahm Emanuel began aquiring extraordinary government authority in advance of Chicago playing host to the NATO and G-8 summits next spring.
Emanuel introduced an ordinance in the City Council that would let Chicago police “deputize law enforcement personnel,” make super-security agreements with state, federal and local law enforcement, and forge agreements with “public or private entities" concerning surveillance.
In addition, Rahm is seeking the ability to dramatically increase fines for "resisting or obstructing" the performance of "anyone known to the person to be a peace officer”.
One assumes "Occupy" protestors are exempt from these new Rahm-laws. And he'll be making the evil 1% pay for his new police-state provisions.
You guys are getting worked up, protesters will be there ,but it wont be 50,000. CPD will be there and the state will send some troopers, and most importantly you guys have already requested the ILEAS Mobile field Force which is 800 fully trained men and woman in full riot gear that have had the training and have been deployed all over the United States... It will be fine...watch .....
