Exempts Quitting?

Two rumors:
  • Cmdr. Hargensheimer (spelling?), unhappy at being moved from Youth to 022, dropped his papers to leave;
  • Cmdr. McNaughton, unhappy at being moved from 016 to 008, put in his papers to leave in short order.

Anyone have info?

McNaughton was a Sgt in 017 and he always seemed like a good guy. It figures he's had enough of the nonsense.

This was just a way to get these guys to retire. Apparently the administration has THEIR guys they want in those spots. O'Shea won't have a say in who's going to take over 022. Murders for January are up 50 percent for the month. Let Mc Fibber and Mayor Fucktard explain this to the public. Lack of police, no. Elevated temperatures in winter, yes. Any chance of these Commanders being assigned to Deputy Chiefs as XO's in the area like Corruthers. Nope, wrong flavor.

Boo fucking hoo. You are a commander making commander's pay and getting a commander's pension. So they move you, it is part of the job description. And you have a company car. That is what is wrong with this job, too many cry babies who think they are above what Police Officers have to do. Too many have lost touch with what we became the police for. Well then again many came on never having the intention of being the police. Oh just forget the whole thing.

If true the city hall / 35th St purge continues. The dismantling of the CPD to eventually try to hire private security to replace those leaving. Watch for many unplanned retirements coming before G8. These will be veteran CPD who wake up and say I AM DONE! Rahmmy the Commie will be doing jumping jacks and doing push ups in celebration on the 5th. He will celebrate everyday until G8 when the thin blue line is attempting to maintain law and order. During one of his jumping jacks he may see black smoke hovering over Lake Michigan. The dismantling of the CPD is Rahmmy's plan and BigMac is just following it!!!!!! He is a TOOL!

Off topic...

Fresh off the rumor mill, a good source says expect to see a whole bunch of people getting stripped for false reports / rule 14 violations. Allegations of padding numbers and falsifying parkers, curfews, truants...even contact cards. Inspectors found 'irregularities and inconsistencies' in how a beat car in very busy districts could write dozens of each during their tour. They are pulling gps to see if you were where you said you were and the "name check clear via PDT" on contact cards is gonna get people hung out to dry. I was wondering why a certain newly minted inspector has been in the station on all watches for weeks now. Remember kids, it's simple math- 20 contact cards @ (let's use for example) 5-6 minutes each to scribble out and name check = almost 2 hours of your day. Do you see the red flag this s!$t has raised???? ***DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THE BOSSES NUMBERS GAME!!!! Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Judge rules against cops in Occupy Oakland case
January 31, 2012
OAKLAND, Calif.—A federal judge in California has ruled that an Oakland police officer who covered his nameplate during a November Occupy protest seriously violated court-approved conduct standards for the city's police department.

U.S. District Judge Thelton Henderson issued the ruling against officer John Hargraves and Oakland police Lt. Clifford Wong. Wong was accused of failing to report Hargraves' actions to the department's internal affairs unit.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports ( http://bit.ly/za1BF2) that Henderson has not decided whether to hold contempt proceedings against the officers.

Hargraves has said he concealed his nameplate to protect himself and his family after an Occupy protester posted the name and address of another officer and called for burning down his home.

Hargraves and Wong's lawyer, John Verber, declined to comment.

News from city hall.

If McCarthy doesn't get murders below 2011 levels by March, he's gone. His contract is not like Weis'. McCarthy can be fired for cause.

There is a good chance McCarthy will leave on his own before then. There are even whispers of Jody Weis' triumphant return.

These murder numbers are now THE talk around the mayor. Everything else (school reform, TIF) is taking a back seat.

The bottom line. Don't pack up your stuff in Area 4 or 5 just yet.

Is Lollapalooza stiffing the state?

[...]

Nobody seems to know how this happened or why. Background…

Although Lollapalooza is very much a for-profit event, it partners to apply for all of its licenses with the non-profit Parkways Foundation, a favorite group of former Mayor Daley and his late wife, Maggie. A long-term sweetheart deal negotiated in part by the festival’s attorney and lobbyist, Daley nephew Mark Vanecko, exempts it from paying the 5 percent city amusement tax and the 1.5 percent county amusement tax, as well as the state sales tax levied on every other major event in Chicago—even though the municipal code clearly states that every big concert and sporting event must pay what’s owed unless 100 percent of its profits go to charity. […]

The loss in sales tax could be even more substantial, Gainer said, since local government has no idea what that cut of souvenir, food, and alcohol sales would even be. Parkways applies for the festival’s liquor license, but as this blog has reported, actual sales are handled by a corporation co-owned by Texas promoters C3 Presents and local bar owner Kevin Killerman, a client and friend of Vanecko.

* More…

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has said he would ask the City Council to appoint a “third-party, independent” negotiator to broker talks with Lollapalooza and determine whether to eliminate the music festival’s multi-million dollar amusement tax exemption.

The hands-off stance is necessitated by the involvement of Emanuel’s brother, Hollywood super-agent Ari Emanuel. Ari Emanuel is the CEO of William Morris Endeavor, which co-owns Lollapalooza.

[...]

Illinois law states that to qualify for an exemption from the sales tax, “Your organization must be not-for-profit and organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, or governmental purposes.” Lollapalooza, which is co-owned by politically well-connected Texas concert promoters C3 Presents and Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor (run by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s brother, Ari) clearly is a for-profit venture.

Last year, the festival gave Parkways more than $2 million for park improvements. But its gross revenues were more than $21 million, and it did not pay the 5-percent city amusement tax, the 1.5-percent county amusement tax, or any fee to rent and close Grant Park for much of the summer.

A mass exodus would be great. Great for the budget. Great for the exempts themselves who see themselves as imortal and often work till they have the big one, when they could have retired ions ago. Great for rahm, because who needs know it all exempts when they can promote the reverends picks and pander to the homie vote. They just do what they are told and never think.

BUT, it would be horrible for the citizens who are often duped into thinking that crime is down, and police are criminals, and police are greedy pension mongers. All the while Rahm and the 50 thieves vote themselves raises and have their minions and media lakeys like Frank Lame applaude them endlessly and unconditionally.
Citizens are duped with the "Crime is Down" bullshit while the bodies pile up at the morgue with gymshoes sticking out under the white sheets and arms hanging over the sides. Exempts should quit.. because this ship is sinking and rahm WILL NOT TAKE THE G8 HEAT BY HIMSELF. HE NEEDS YOU, HE REALLY NEEDS YOU BOYS.

Talked to a boss at a suburban Department. He was not happy with the Chicago Police Department. OK. That was a huge understatement. He is PISSED!

It seems that Chicago called a bunch of top bosses from other departments to 35th street for a big informational meeting on the
G8. Top secret information, need to know stuff, except, they didn't tell them anything that wasn't in the papers.

The Chiefs were then paraded past the Channel 7 cameras that were "tipped off" about the "secret meeting" the suburban Departments were called to. Since Channel 7 is in the bag for Chicago, you didn't have to be a Chief to figure out you had been used as a prop. Are we getting that desperate already? Way to piss off our suburban brothers with that transparent nonsense.

Well then again many came on never having the intention of being the police. Oh just forget the whole thing. You dumbass Dickhead! This is no time to be the police. Too many officers have been fucked greatly by this lousy department. This department does not care about any working officer. I did not take this job to police anyone.

1/31/2012 08:30:00 AM

I don't feel sorry or remorseful for any asshole police officer who is dumb enough to do such things. That is completely foolish; to make up stuff or falsify simple things like contact cards, traffic stop cards, curfews, etc... just to pad your numbers. All for what? Do you get a fucking bonus? Do you get to stay on the watch of your choice if you don't have seniority? Complete idiots.

Yes, I come in with 10 some days but some days it's slow and I come in with none. Be legit, play by the rules, and you won't get jammed up. You have a radio, at the very least. So what if the dispatcher doesn't run the name and comes back with 'no record..' it's on tape that you ran the name on the air and you are covered, rule 14 wise anyway.

Also, it does not take 2 hours to enter 20 of them. Not even close.

He also said he wants the best guy in the district regardless of race, guess that explains Leo.

Not sure how much that is true about the moves because McNaughton was already a commander of a district and he got sent to another district. Home prices in Chicago area drop in November

BY FRANCINE KNOWLES Business Reporter fknowles@suntimes.com January 31, 2012 10:26AM

"Home prices in the Chicago metropolitan area fell 3.4 percent in November from October and are down 5.9 percent from November 2010, according to the latest Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price index.

"Nationally, the 10-city and 20-city indexes both fell 1.3 percent from October. The Chicago area posted the biggest month-over-month decline and was among 19 of the 20 cities in the index to post price drops.

"Prices have fallen in the Chicago area for three straight months, following four months of increases, and are at levels last seen in May 2001.

"The 10-city composite was down 3.6 percent year-over-year, and the 20-city composite dropped 3.7 percent from November 2010. The declines were worse than the annual declines reported for October.

“Despite continued low interest rates and better real GDP growth in the fourth quarter, home prices continue to fall,” David Blitzer, chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Indices, said in a statement. “The trend is down and there are few, if any, signs in the numbers that a turning point is close at hand.”

(OT) My brother is a TSA supervisor (I know many don't like TSA) but he is noticing a trend some airlines like Southwest are offering great fares from California to Chicago in the month of May,like $200.00 with taxes round trip, then he looked at ages of flyers for a homeland security analysis and surprise many of the passengers do not have same last name as would for vacationers to this city (Like in families), many younger people coming here! OK call me crazy but maybe just maybe the airports should be also beefed up!

Why? My brother and I both agree that the energy that these possible occupiers will have both coming into this city, and especially going back home when they are feeling defeated could bring up an interesting set of circumstances at both airports. Think a bunch of pissed off wanna be hippies mad because Chicago was ready and willing to defend the homeland!

OK boss we will volunteer for this opportunity!

Just a simple fact if you are 50 and have over 10 years on(which is what "vested" means), then you can check out of this roach motel with a check for the rest of your life,,,it won't be huge and you might actually have to work doing something you like, somewhere you like, with people you can actually stand without puking, rather than this thankless crap... Which is more than what you get if you frazzle yourself for these clout moron bosses, suck ass, then have a heart attack or a debilitating stroke and die or become a veg. But then again, some people are just born to suck ass. I was not. The fishing is great in Florida....

1/31/2012 04:51:00 PM
Your wrong! your vested after 20 years unless you are being forced off because you turned 63. If and only if you are forced off at 63 than you are considered vested after 10 years.

1/31/2012 08:32:00 PM

No, you're wrong. You are vested after ten years. You can't draw a pension, but you're vested.

Being able to pension out is a different story from being vested. Maybe it's time to actually read those documents that get passed around and circle-filed every year.

I went a year early and haven't regretted it once. It's still stressful to hear about what my friends have to deal with on the job, but at least I'm out of the mix.
What a relief to escape the power politics, the petty b.s. and the constant 'improvements' to the department.
And, what a new conceept, to be able to sleep on my schedule, instead of the Dept's. It's great.

Judge rules against cops in Occupy Oakland case January 31, 2012

This asshole was appointed to the Federal Bench by Jimmy Carter. He makes decisions based on race. The guy is a police-hater.
In a landmark 1995 civil rights case, Madrid v. Gomez, Henderson found the use of force and level of medical care at the notorious Pelican Bay State Prison unconstitutional. During its subsequent federal oversight process, Henderson was known to visit the prison personally.

In a 1997 decision, he struck down Proposition 209, the anti-affirmative action California initiative, as unconstitutional. He was criticized by many supporters of Proposition 209, and the next year a three-judge Court of Appeals panel overturned his decision.

In 1982 Henderson overturned the conviction of Johnny Spain, the only member of The San Quentin Six convicted of murder for the deaths of three California Correctional Peace Officers and two inmates in a riot and escape attempt led by Black Panther Party member and Black Guerilla Family founder George Jackson.

Fuck this guy, double fuck Jimmy Carter, & triple all DemocRATS.

I would imagine Walsh will be about ready to do the same soon, if not sooner! Being cmdr of an Area is a whole different game than taking over an Area 2 district...and she knows she's not going any higher.
She's been an exempt for quite a few years now, she has the time and the age, she won't get another dime
extra out of the pension, and the stress of taking over
a district after so much time in an area has been known to shorten many a lifespan (Kup).

McCarthy wants the commanders from slower Districts to move to faster Districts like he did in NY. Can't say I agree with that.

These Commanders have either come from that hood or spent their lives in the Unit. That's a lot of experience to make up for by their replacements, and a lot they won't have in their new spots.

Wow! A commander, one who has a car and gas paid for , $140 grand a year and a pension of over 100 grand a year and might be a little upset because he might have to drive 20 miles to get to work! Now, here is a person who is really out of touch with reality and what the common man has to do for a job. I retired from the job and went to work in private industry. It is very common for people to drive 30-40 miles or more to find a job that will support their family. I have seen people take public transportation across the city for a $10 dollar an hour job! It is tough out here for many working people. If these overpaid, clout heavy cry babies want to quit over this issue, then let them and do not let the door hit you in the ass.

Some of us in the over 50 and 20+ years on the job club may still have to be here for some reason or another. It could be a sick spouse or kids and the insurance can't be changed. It could be a kid in college or high school still. It could be that the economy sucks still and (even though we still get a pension) it will be very hard to find a job that will still be needed.

So quit ripping the old timers, there are thousands of stories out there.

No you are wrong. No where in the contract is the word vested even mentioned when it comes to retirement. Vested means:
vest·ed
   [ves-tid] Show IPA

adjective
1.
held completely, permanently, and inalienably: vested rights.

2.
protected or established by law, commitment, tradition, ownership, etc.: vested contributions to a fund.

So, per our contract, you are "vested" in the pension, at 50 years of age with 20 years of service. If you retire before this time you get out of the pension exactly what you contributed and not penny more. Therefore, you are not vested at 10 years, asshat.

Your correct, ut even bigger I work at a restaurant at O'Hare as a manager and we were called to a meeting and told what kind of problems these people have caused at airports in the past and will cause here! Not going to reveal all the things said on a public blog suffice to say please Mr. McCarthy make sure airports are fully staffed and extra officers ready to go!

The airport system brings in many visitors and business people and must be kept in an orderly fashion! Surely the mayor will be involved in airport security issues!

No, you're the doofus. Obviously you never worked for him because you would know how supportive he was to the detectives and officers who worked for him. How he knew the details of everyones life who worked for him including all about their kids, spouses, illnesses etc. How he did everything in support of those who worked for him. You would understand how loyal he was to those under his command because they made him look good. You would know how much he was involved in youth related organizations and how much youth related legislation he was involved in. So, just stop because clearly you know nothing.

well, instead of making up your activity why dont you just do it! Are you that lazy that you cant write 5 parkers a tour? Even a dog ass should write 5 parkers and at least one mover each tour.. throw in a cta check and your a god to your sgt. But no, dogs have to be dogs and do absolutely nothing the entire tour. This is what is so bad about unions. They enable people to be lazy dog asses. In my opinion, if you dont do shit you should get paid shit. but hey, what do I know.. 4 more years and im outta here.. retirement in florida here I come. Heres the dope on the pension. You are vested after 10 years, but cannot receive a pension without 20 years when you retire. If you have less than 20 years you receive a "Money Purchase Annuity" and it pays alot less.
Currently the difference between reiring after completing 20 years versus 19 years and 11 months is $2,000 per month $3,500 verus $1,500 payable for life Make sure you complete 20 years less any bad time
Don't pay any attention to the other posters, this is not me talking, but right out of the Pension Advisor that was mailed to all the po's in the last few days by the pension board Just look on page 2

No, those aren't official documents. Like the ones from 012 that R.S. started and they never stopped them since he left. I'm not sure which other districts do them along with 012 but they would all have to look the same if they were official and they probably don't. Each district makes up their own version. The faster districts don't use these, only the slower ones I've heard. Basically all your doing is upstairs job or making it easier for them. They are not accurate at all. That's why if you don't hand them in they can't say anything to you, but that would mean the guys in 012 would have to find their balls.
