At least six people were shot on the South, West and Northwest sides Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to police.
One man died, shot apparently because he bumped into someone at a party, police said.
He was killed on the 1900 block of South Lawndale Avenue the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side.
That's the second killing in 24 hours in 010.
About 2:45 a.m. Sunday, three people were shot in a parking lot in the Portage Park neighborhood, on the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
Police said there was some sort of disturbance outside the Capitol Club around closing time when someone pulled a gun and fired shots at the three men, who were all injured but in stable condition.

About an hour earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in a drive-by in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
He was sitting in a vehicle when another one rolled by and someone inside opened fire, police said.

Saturday night about 9:15 p.m., a 36-year-old man was shot two blocks from the scene of a homicide Saturday morning.
The man was walking east on 25th Street west of Sacramento Avenue when a vehicle emerged from the alley and someone stepped out, opening fire with a small-caliber pistol, police said.
What do all these districts have in common? If it ain't 007 or 011, it ain't worth the time, effort or manpower.

The complainant was sitting at her computer when she heard someone trying to force her door open, said authorities
When the 911 caller opened her door, she saw two male blacks run to the elevator, while a third male black held the elevator’s door open, said police.
Investigators said two additional male blacks were also seen loitering in the hallway.
In all, police are looking for five possible offenders.

Did an off-duty police officer fall prey to a thief at a North Side train station?
Around 5:30 p.m., Chicago police were investigating a pickpocketing at the Belmont Red, Brown, and Purple Lines station at 945 West Belmont Avenue.
According to police dispatch, a victim’s wallet containing a debit card, a driver’s license, and a Northwestern University Police ID, was stolen at the Lakeview neighborhood train station.

1900-blk of S. Spaulding ISN'T Little Village. North Lawndale for sure. All black, certainly but La Vallita is the SOUTH end of 010, starting at Cermak. In fact, the "color line" in the 010th Dist is the Burlington Northern tracks that split the district in half. South of the tracks Mexican, north of the tracks, black folk. Simple.

Pretty simple: crime will go where to police ain't. That's a fairly simple analogy but the fact of the matter is much more sinister. Criminals are bolder, badder, more brazen and have been desensitized to violence through generationally poor up bringing, video games, peer presure, Hollywood and drugs.
We (the police), are a shrinking entity who is losing our authority and control on the streets, thanks largely to the media. The respect and/or fear just isn't there anymore. Our jobs have become exponentially more difficult as well as dangerous. Dude doens't fear us-there are no consequences for his actions. The legal system is catered towards the criminal. And society has stuck its head up social media's ass and plugged in.
The America I helped defend has turned into a society of victims.

This city and department is so screwed up right now it's pathetic. The poor tax paying, working stiff citizens are being completely ignored when it comes to police service.

The mass deployment of police personnel to 007 & 011 contradicts academic police strategies. Modern policing is NOT supposed to be based on a force presence, but rather on strategies worked out with the community served. CPD does not have the personnel to deploy and saturate areas, currently we do not even have a Unit designed to do that, as was the case with SOS or MSF. So the current tactic is a temporary solution at best and will not be feasible in May, or in the Summer in general if the weather is hot. At some point even the Media is going to realize this is a sham."G"
It just goes to show how stupid the media and public are after the mayor and supt continues to lie about how we don't need more police officers but we need compstat. WAIT there is a crime problem in 7 and 11 districts, 25% of all the city crime. Solution saturate the area with more police and the crime goes down. The have proven themselves that more police actually does reduce crime. Huh. What will the next fabrication to the public be. and the media, just plain dumb.
Math time kiddies! Add the numbers, manpower in 007 and 011.
Divide by 2.
You now have the number of police officers necessary to control the district(s).
Multiply that number by the number of districts, and you derive the number of police necessary to adequately protect ALL citizens of Chicago.
Time to start hiring.

THAT has nothing to do with it. All that matters is that Mayor 9.5 lies can tell the voters during his next campaign (for whatever office that is), that HE tamed the crime problem in Chicago's worst ghetto, that Daley couldn't control in over 22 years in office!
Of course, his friends in the media will conveniently ignore how many people in the REST of the city are being increasingly victimized
Manpower is a wondeful thing...when you have it! Who was it that said we don't need more police? Imagine the crime stats if both the patrol and detective divisions were fully staffed!

From what I remember there was a big brawl outside this club reported about a year ago. There was some video posted on Youtube. Alderman John Arena (45) should get on these people, he lives in the immediate area.
