More Paperwork
Spurred by a Tribune report documenting an explosion in Taser use by police, a state legislator from Chicago is pushing a bill that would force local police departments to inform the state of every shock an officer delivers to a civilian.
The proposed law would compel officers to report details of any use of a Taser or other electroshock weapon, including information about the incident that led to the weapon's deployment and whether the subject was armed, aggressive or intoxicated. Officers would also be asked to report the race of each person shocked by one of the devices.
The bill is based in part on legislation that took effect in 2004 and called on officers to report the race of each driver pulled over, said state Rep. Monique Davis, D-Chicago, sponsor of the Taser bill. If officers know they will have to report the details of each use, Davis said, they might think more carefully before pulling the weapon.
But leave it to a democrat to endanger the lives of police officers by throwing paperwork obstacles in their way in the hopes of denying them an effective weapon to defend themselves.
We're just going to stop carry a Taser and go back to killing people who turn out to be assailants.

How about they stop fighting police and then don't have to worry about getting tased.
No one gets worried when offenders batter police.
How about we make the SA do reports on why such a large number of battery to POs are not given felony approval.

Actually it is not more paperwork, it is called a TRR. It is already in place. Again, politicians talking out of their asses without even checking first.
I am not trained on a taser and don't carry a taser. I did requalify today on the range. Shot rather well too. I'll stay old school thank you.

Hey that is fine with me. Note to all of the legislators and citizens who want to make it more and more difficult for the police to be aggressive: you get the type of police you deserve. Most of us are not stupid. We know what type of political environment we are in and thus most of us just go out there and just respond to our jobs instead of being proactive. It's not because we are cowards or lazy. It's because we also have the instinct of self-preservation. One day society will wake up and allow us to be the police again. I still love my job and still will go out of my own way to help honest/decent people out.
Monique Davis is just another useless over paid Democrat who has to show her voters she is actually doing something in Springfield. The idea of the Taser was to prevent more serious injury to thugs and of course cops. And it also sounds like the race issue is involved. What difference does it make what race the offender is. None. My parents raised me democratic, and when I was younger I thought that was the right way to go. I am very happy to say that since I've grown up and can think for myself I will never vote for the democrat scum bags. Useless legislation, last I knew all of that information was covered in somthing called a case report and a TRR. With a little investigation she would find out this information is already documented and available. Try doing somthing more useful like fixing the budget crisis instead of wasting time on B.S.

So people like Walter Jacobsen and Mary Mitchell can bitch about how Chicago Police are using tasers more on minorities than whites? Fine, we already do plenty of paperwork when we pop off a Taser. All we'd have to do is send it to Monique! Bury her in paper, maybe she'd get some sense.
Just remember, the TSSSSSS project was a 4 (four) year study that started in 2003. They extended it once, and now have extended it again so it won't go away until at least 2015. Study will be 3x as long as originally intended. You just have to keep extending it until you get the results you are looking for, weather based on fact or fiction.
Enough is enough. We are turning into date entry. It's getting ridiculous.....more time with nonsense paperwork means less officers on the street making arrests you idiots. You can't have it both ways - you want more cops on the street, but want to tie up the current ones with BS paper at the station.

We do a TRR. This would only mean more paper for departments in IL that don't do anything similar.

She's the same a-hole that sponsored multiple bills in Springfield to have the municiple pensions revert over to state (her) control becuase of a ridiculous clause prohibiting any govt funded pension plan in IL from doing business with the Sudan. Her arguement was that because the pension funds held stock in companies like BP and Exxon, and becuase those companies did business in Sudan, therefore the pensions must divest themselves of those stocks or revert to State control. The bills never passed, but it is obvious that she is a snake in the grass. This bill will no doubt be used to fatten the wallets of her politically connected lawyers.

A few years ago a complete idiot, err democratic legislator (Yes, I repeat myself) filed a bill to have a TASER elevated to deadly force. I wonder if his clueless moron realized if that passed instead of shocking someone we would probably just shoot him.
