Leo, What Happened?

  • Four men were wounded, one of them critically, in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side this afternoon during a gang-related shooting, authorities said.

Someone on foot fired shots, striking the four outside at 1:55 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to police.

All four ran away after being wounded and one who was shot in the leg collapsed inside a cell phone store, according to police and fire officials.

The victim most seriously injured was a man shot in the head...
We don't know why McGruff thinks we can actually stop shootings without manpower, firepower and the combat rules of an occupying force. If someone wants to shoot someone (or someone needs to be shot) then someone is going to the hospital with an extra few holes in the body. Blaming Leo (or any other gold star), while amusing for the moment, isn't really solving anything.

Its funny that these bosses think they came up with some new magical strategy. That no one has ever thought of over the last thirty years, that will prevent shootings. Geez they do have huge egos.

Someone tell those "reporters" that they can't say people were shot. They ingested heavy metals from the environment. Lead poisoning can be addressed in Rahm's wellness pogroms, ehr, I mean programs.

So will Garry meddle Leo and attempt to humiliate him in front of his peers now?

If so, I hope Ric Flair snaps and pounds the piss out of the football badboy. Wrestling is real you know!

Hey how about the fact that we cant police without getting bullshit cr's and the fact that they take any bullshit allegation and it becomes nothing but stress for officers when in fact these shithead offenders are lying ther asses off and one has to be answering bullshit allegations....maybe thats why its difficult policing in these areas...throwing PO's under the bus doesn't help much no support from the bosses and courts its a joke! thats why crime is up, I would hope some day marshall law will actually take affect for just one summer and trust me you will see a difference!

Until the manpower crisis is truthfully addressed things will continue to deteriorate on the CPD and in Chicago. I just hope nobody is seriously injured or killed because of it again.

In 1991 they saturated Englewood with every resource the department had and it curtailled very few homicides.

Violence is a way of life there,a cultural norm almost. To expect Leo or anyone else to stop it is ridiculous!

When you lack morality and an ethical upbringing within the confines of a healthy family environment this is what ensues. Add the gangster thug mentality that they mimic, with drugs, gangs, alcohol, lack of education and the lack of a viable judicial system and you have a war zone that the police can only occupy.

In Boston they refer to places like Englewood as the Combat Zone.

They made a few guys stay and work an extra 3 hours to just drive around the area of the shootings. Now granted they were all hairgels but WTF do officers have to stay late because the natives get restless. I've been in 007 for quite a while and that never happened, even when plans have been called out. It's all because of the G-tard and low low low low numbers.

SCC,
Copy, paste, repeat your commentary. U can only make sense so many times and explain it in so many ways. Maybe one day those who make hiring decisions /management strategies will understand.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein.

It's only tragic when the slaughter of innocents comes to pass because of policies of those in charge. The failure to hire more police officers when it is so obviously evident that more are needed is the fault of only those in charge. Do your best, stay safe and go home to see your families after every tour. Thank you to each and every one of you for what you do!

Why do we continually think that it is the fault of police for crime? It is the people who may or may not know right from wrong and make choices to commit the crimes. It is not a commanders or the police fault for high crime in an area. It is the fault of continued liberal approach of Link cards and sec 8 programs that keep producing generation after generation of government dependent trash. Take away these programs or cut them in half and crime will leave the city.

I hope Leo fails, and fails miserably. He's led a charmed career thanks to clout and has stepped on a lot of toes and belittled many a subordinate over the years. He has an air of smugness that is second to none and his chest of ribbons is questionable at best. Anyone with any kind of time on the job knows the true value and origin of the majority of CPD awards - they aren't worth the scrap metal prices they're made of. Getting knocked down a few pegs and humiliated will do that blowhard some good. And it's nothing personal as I never worked for Leo, but I have been around a long time and have seen just what a pud he really is. I won't even get started on his 'better half'.....More proof that it's good to be clouted in the Windy City, and even moreso in the CPD. Leo Schmitz: another nail in the CPD coffin.

Sadly in black neighborhoods violence is a type of modern cultural expression fostered by hip hop inspired myths and conformism. Attempting to curb violence in black urban areas, although altruistc, is futile. it's not the guns, knives, drugs, poverty, and anti-educational ethos that pervades the mentality of young blacks, it's the community itself.

Jesus Christ , himself , could not stop the violence in Englewood. The residents of this Sodom and Gomorrah like community have been killing each other since Englewood turned into the ghetto it is. Unless the department wants to carpet bomb this shithole the killings will continue. Speaking of dropping bombs . Where's Mayor Goode from Philadelphia when you need him?

Why would anyone take such a chance?

The blame falls 100% on the city council for failing to provide the citizen with proper police protection. Wait til their homes start burning down around them while two fireman stand a block away trying to find a working fireplug and run hose.
