NATO Order (UPDATE!!!!!!!!)

Due to be released at the meeting at HQ around 1000 hours today.

We'll have the basics up as soon as we can. Operational mumbo-jumbo that could potentially compromise safety and security stuff will not be published. But everyone reading should know the hours of operation and stuff like that - we do have lives outside the Department and family issues ought to be easier to plan than a mere 6 days in advance, right?

UPDATE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the release of the NATO order has been delayed for at least 24 hours.

Minimum.

We're pretty sure McPrepared had it delayed because we said we were going to post portions or details that actually affected officers' lives. We got letters from two separate bosses stating that the NATO meeting today at HQ was the biggest waste of time they had ever attended, and since they had been bosses for a few decades, that's saying something. No one has a clue and no one seems to give a shit about everyone else's life outside of this event.

OPERATION SHOWCASE -- IT'S A GO!

I'm glad Lori Healey finally found a minute to sit down and bat out the particulars for us.

It'll be nice to have a copy of the Master Tactical Trendy Bistro List -- the exact hours of tasting for "artisan liqueurs," imported cheeses and so forth.

...and remember,

No. Under the new order we are no longer allowed to have lives outside of the department.

Nor after retiring. Not like we'll be able to do that anyway.

Hey, hey, look over here. Forget all about the pension mess. Just make sure you keep giving to the Chicago Police Memorial Fund (CPMF). I need your money.

Insincerely,

Phil Cline

PS. I get 150K CPD Pension + 150K + A Car + Healthcare Paid By The CPMF which = 320K A Year. I have nothing to worry about. Just keep pouring the cash into the CPMF. Don't worry about me. I will be just fine.

**********************************************************************

To whomever posted this on an earlier thread,
Instead of acting like a whiny little jealous bitch start an organization of your own. Start an organization for fallen police officers. Collect donations, run events, and do a better job than the CPMF. When you have achieved that goal people who contribute to CPMF will instead choose to support your group. Will you ever start an organization like that....no. Just like people that whine and bitch about politicians that don't vote or better yet, are not even registered to vote.
The CPMF has helped more police families than you ever will. Just let me know when your organization is up and running....do it here....anonymously on the blog. I'm not on the CPMF but I appreciate what they do. I donate for the Run to Remember and I go to the Texas Hold 'Em tournament, and I do the automatic payroll deduction. When you start your organization for fallen officers families I will stop my $5 per check automatic deduction and switch it over to yours.

Sincerely,
An officer who prays for the Gold Star Families

When the order is given, unknown person(s) will flip the switch on the fan as another unk person(s) will feverishly shovel the excrement into the the powerful fan, disbursing huge amounts of fecal matter amongst the populous.
I AX You, when this occurs, will WE be prepared ?
The Order, I expect, will address the concern of how to prohibit or limit the use of extension cords in Grant Park.

BAM!!

Just in time for NATO.

Jobless Americans to lose unemployment benefits

More than 200,000 long-term jobless Americans will lose their unemployment checks this week, when eight states roll off the federal extended benefits program.

Nearly half of them live in California, and the rest reside in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Texas.

...

The issue of supporting the long-term unemployed, who number 5.1 million or 41% of the jobless, has split policy makers and economists. Some argue that these costly benefits need to end to spur people to find work. But others say the economy is still too weak to roll up the safety

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/jobless-americans-lose-unemployment-benefits-094500875.html

Well that should help the Occupiers enrollment don't you think? There's nothing else to do, might just as well march in the streets.

Oh yeah.

Off the unemployment count and onto the disability count. See that, unemployment is falling the economy is improving. ha.

City road plan could limit speeds to 20 mph

The city has rolled out a 2-year plan for improving streets that includes a mandate to fill every pothole, and to explore reducing the speed limit in all residential neighborhoods to 20 mph.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-city-road-plan-could-limit-speeds-to-20-mph-20120511,0,5358283.story

Now how in the heck are we going to rake in millions of dollars with speed trap cameras if the entire residential area of the city has a 20 mph speed limit? ..lol

Come-on now guys.

Citywide 20 mph it's for the children. If it saves just one child's life than isn't it worth it even if it take a few more minutes to get somewherez? Hahahah..

The speed trap cams will be worthless. The only people making out on the deal as usual are the friends of the politicians with the no-bid contracts.

Hey SCC,

Deputy Velez spoke at our 2nd watch roll call a few days back... He confirmed rumors that our helmets, (You know the ones they have spent the last few days retro fitting with the new face shields) will be left on a bus that is supposed to be some where in the general vicinity.
I asked him about officers such as myself who were not approved to be issued a gas mask due to a medical condition, where we will be? He said "you will be down there" He said that he asked that question and that is the answer he was given by someone obviously above him...

So what happens when I get off the bus and attempt to take my helmet with me? Is a supervisor going to order me to leave it behind? Does it not say in the general orders that we will not comply with an order that may place ourselves in danger? I know that is at the bottom of the order that refers to "not shooting at a moving veh, to get out of the way"
"We All Need to Stick Together" on this issue of Not leaving our helmets on the bus! I would be glad to Take a SPAR for not obeying a Direct Order for something as Stupid as this! And before I forget... Do I still have to "Take a Day" when some Asshole runs up and grabs my crown cap? Cause You know that's going to happen!! It will be their Trophy!

Update: The W/C now Station Supervisor said that McStupid stated that for this time, and this time only that if someone runs off with our crown hat we won't have to Take a Day... Although he did not address whether we would have to get a new Star Number or not. One suggestion the Lt. made was to loosen the screws on the back of the hat shield and if the shit hit the fan you could take your hat off and quickly finish unscrewing it and place it in our pocket for safe keeping.

It's over.

CEO of JP Morgan Chase, some "Diamond," droned in a flat, annoyed voice "We'll learn from it, we'll be a better company, we'll move on."

$2 billion lost, maybe running into $3 billion or more, and that's that. "we won't dwell on it," as they say about everything horrible today.

The Dow actually went UP.

"Not sustainable."

5/11/2012 10:38:00 AM

------------------------------------

JP Morgan lost $2~3 Billion in six weeks. The USPS lost $3.2 Billion in the entire first quarter. Both losers.

The best and brightest are burning thru cash like there's no tomorrow.

How much is one billion?

Put one thousand millionaires together and that's one billion dollars.

One billion is a $100,000 dollar paycheck for 10,000 people. Now do the math as we prepare another taxpayer bailout.

Oh and the USPS. how do they respond to their billion dollar losses?

As of May 15 the USPS will no longer ship anything with a lithium battery overseas. No Iphones, IPads, laptops, cameras, game consoles, cell phones, etc. That's gonna help bring revenues in eh? It's mainly gonna effect US troops stationed overseas.

How long before the media gives us the USPS is going bust must sooner than expected story? As it stands now they claim by Oct USPS will be out of cash. Seriously, right before Nov elections? Well congress will just have to bail out the obsolete buggy whip operation with more loans and taxpayers dollars then won't they?

Meanwhile instead of USPS laying off people which would show up in the unemployment stats, something taboo in an election year, they will cut hours to just four hours a day at many offices.

So the effect on the economy is pretty much the same. Thousands of people working less hours, going on food stamps and spending less, lower tax revenues. Watch it trickle down.

They did say that days off for the entire dept will be canceled for Sat & Sun and maybe more days than that. They may cancel Fri and Mon depending on what transpires. The meeting was for McGruff to flex his "muscles." He was the most self-serving telling eveeryone he will be on the front line and we will probable have to hold him back when things go bad.

I was at the meeting. Days off will be canceled for everyone Sat and Sun. Based on manpower needs they may also cancel Fri and Mon. The meeting was basically McGruff's "rah-rah" speech to the troops. Drop your kids off at 4228 N Hermitage. The woman of the house won't be busy that weekend and would love to look after your kids. There will be plenty of police around so the kids will be safe. There will be bosses and heavy weapons nearby also, safest house in the City. Also a nice playground is a few doors north. The kids can call 911 if they want to be entertained and have some cops come over to read to the kids. Pick the kids up afterwards. Your mayor wants to help any way he can. There are so many 019 sergeants that some can run the pizza shuffle for the kiddies, bringing pizza and ice cream.

What's not to like?

Or, just leave them on the ramp of the nearest firehouse.

The statement is accurately quoted -- I ran to jot it down.

I or the TV station the clip appeared on a couple of months ago may have gotten the name wrong. I'm digging back as time permits.

============
You may not be aware of it, but lithium batteries have a very unpleasant tendency to spontaneously catch on fire when damaged. They can also be quite dangerous when exposed to water. Li is a highly reactive metal. The chemicals used in the battery are nasty as well and if the case splits open such as might happen in a crash, all kinds of bad things are possible.

I can remember back more than 25 years ago when the first batteries with Li in them came out. There were all kinds of restrictions on how they were supposed to be transported, including a complete ban on transporting them by air. Not that anyone ever really cared about that rule. It may well still be in effect.

I was in a battery factory not long after they had a spontaneous Li battery fire in a truck parked in the parking lot. It was just sitting there.

I for one am not at all surprised at this turn of events by the USPS.

The power structure in this country, state and city doesn't really like people who are married and maintain a proper home for their own kids and work to earn money to support them. It means you have attempted to create a zone where you, not the government, can run your lives as you see fit, and that is a threat to them. I hope everyone sees this by now and votes accordingly.

Since he is on the air so much, it shouldn't be to hard for a hardcharging, rodeo going detective of your caliber to find ME. I would welcome the personal critique, you fucking pussy.

Signed
Sgt. B.S.

As previous posters have mentioned, we have been warned of the NATO meeting almost a year ago, you should have made plans weeks or months ago to;

1. send your kids away to a relative, firehouse, Rahm's house, chuck-e-cheeses, etc.

2. tell the dog to find a spot outside, firehouse, board him, animal care, neighbor, etc.

3. tell the wife (other human) that you may not be back for a few days and leave them a few bucks for pizza.

4. tell youe c.o. that you will be out of town for a funeral, disease treatment, hospital stay, etc.

5. just leave town and tell no-one anything about your absence, the dicks will trace you in a few weeks to that spot in the Dells with your babe or dude.

6. just don't go! pretend you forgot about it, rahm will.

I'm just curious.....I went to the one day NATO training in February at the academy and we were informed by the instructors, no, GUARANTEED by the instructors that the city ordered enough replacement face shields for EVERY officer's helmet. When do we pick the new shields up?
Not to be a complainer but the city better hurry up because the NATO summit is less than a week away. HA HA, ok, I know that was a lie, we aren't getting new shields, but where is the money that was supposedly being spent on to get these replacement shields??

I was shopping a few days ago and a picture on the cover of a magazine caught my attention. It is a picture of a police officer in a supposed CPD uniform with a baton. Upon further investigation, the article gives information and tips to the protestors and also a map of what events are being planned and organized. My first thought was...how come the magazine knows the routes and locations of the NATO events and us regular Cops have no idea what is going on. Also, this magazine tells the protestors what to do in the event they are sprayed with pepper spray by the police and what questions that they MUST answer by the police...kind of a piece of junk looking magazine called Time Out Chicago. Some liberal lawyers gave advise for the protestors. I wouldn't buy the magazine cause it looks like it might be a garbage rag but I did glance through it. Did anyone else see this article?

People without families have no clue whatsoever. There's no use in trying to educate some clueless moron about children, wives, and pets when his only concern is how many hours he's going to sleep in his parent's basement tomorrow before going to "work" to play cowboys and Indians with the scumbags. He wouldn't care if McStupid and Rahm told him to work 48 hours straight because when he's not eating, breathing, and shitting the CPD he has absolutely no responsibilities whatsoever and nobody to take care of or worry about but himself.

5/12/2012 05:03:00 AM

GEU dat. Families and wives and kids and libidos aren't easy to balance, pal. The responsibility wake-up call for me was six years after my CPD gal pal had the bambino and the wifey found out about the court ordered child-support deductions.

Hey blowhard. Your smokescreen will not work. You offer nothing, but insults and a ridiculous challenge. Why not try refuting the allegations? Why not? Because you cannot refute the truth.

I pray for you to locate a brain and then realize that Cline is out for Cline and Cline alone. Cline is a flim-flam man, but do not feel bad because he fooled you. He's fooled a lot of people. He's good at it.

Hey 2260, you are a fucking tool, you surely could not work in the private sector with all your supervisory "training" that you received from this department. Sad to say, many of your comrades carry the same qualities. It shows, people listen to you only because of the chevrons and not because of the person.

You people supporting Cline and company are making certain people wealthy on the backs of fallen Police Officers. Isnt it enough to at least look into how much these people are paid? C'mon, would it matter to you if Cline was making a million before you open your eyes?

Since you aren't the police and have no fucking clue as to what the fuck you are talking about, you should probably shut your fucking trap. If you are a cop, which I highly doubt, you might want to learn your rank structure, dipshit.

Cline paying himself 150,000/year from a fund that solicits our donations for the purpose of helping the the families of the fallen is wrong. No, not just wrong, but morally vile. It is a good cause whose purpose is being subverted by a greedy piece of shit, who is more concerned about receiving a fat paycheck than helping the families of the fallen. Fuck him, I hope he rots in hell with Daley for his legal theft.

"The speculators at JP Morgan Chase just lost TWO BILLION DOLLARS trading in something called 'derivatives.' They expect losses may mount up to THREE BILLION. A billion is a thousand million. This is called gambling -- with other people's money, yet. These places are nothing more than private-club casinos, a cruel joke."

Look. All investment is taking a chance. Sometimes a big one, sometimes a small one. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. You don't make money for yourself or your investors without taking a chance.

The question to ask is, are you (an individual or a company) doing it with your own money? The bank's stockholders are the ones who stood to gain (as they have gained with other investments) and will absorb this loss. Heads will probably roll at this company, if the loss is too big. If your 401k or pension fund had a stake in it, maybe you will sell and be leery of buying bank stock again. Or maybe you'll buy more stock while the price is low, figuring "lesson learned." And if you are a customer and think you're somehow getting stuck with the results, then you can take your business to some other bank.

Who else do you expect will pay? Who else do you think should? If the idea that taxpayers will bail them out has led banks to make bad decisions, then isn't it high time to ask your representatives to decide that there will be no such thing as "too big to fail" from now on?

For someone retired on a huge pension well into 6 figures, a stipend of no more than $1,000 a month is sufficient for overseeing a charitable organization whose purpose is to provide help to those comrades and families that really need it.

Look at it this way, how many individuals or police families could be helped with the $150,000 that Phil Cline is paid? Lot's of tuition payments in there.

I would think that Cline would better donate his time to helping those he is in a position to help. Instead, Phil Cline is helping himself to more swilling at the trough. I guess someone has to pay for those gigantic steak dinners Phil loves.

Only in Chicago can someone convince himself that fronting for a police charity, by the former top cop, is worthy of another fat paycheck.

I think it is disgusting and I stopped giving to that fund the day I heard of Phil Cline's enormous salary, courtesy of a police charity.

When Phil suffers the inevitable results of gorging on well marbled beef, I might consider giving again, but only if the next head of that fund refuses a huge salary, stipend only.

"PROTESTERS HAVE TO EAT TOO!"

--Lou Malnati, Malnati's Restaurants

"The first Lou Malnati's opened in Lincolnwood in 1971. My Dad worked on construction as a plumber. We ate there the first day it opened. Lou Malnati died of cancer in '78 or '79."

--5/11/2012 10:11:00 AM

You are correct.

The statement is accurately quoted -- I ran to jot it down.

++++++++++++++++

But it's not accurately quoted. You attributed something that you ran to write down several months ago to a man that's been dead for over 30 years. I think your talents would be better used at the Sun-Times or Tribune. Some person at some point in your education must have explained sourcing to you.

5/13/2012 02:49:00 PM

Repeating what you exaggerated and then snipped off --

"I or the TV station the clip appeared on a couple of months ago may have gotten the name wrong. I'm digging back as time permits.

"The man who said this was shown in a Malnati's restaurant, and he had what appeared to be a surgical scar on his upper lip. Possibly one of Lou's sons?"

This is not a newsroom here, but a family residence with a lot of other things going on. I got a two-second glimpse of that sound bite.

Whoever you are, you are neither paying me or grading me -- and you have no constructive information to offer about the question at hand.

Fuck off.

Anyone else who might know the exact name, please feel free to chip in.

Jesus.

"Somehow?"

Doesn't matter if you're a customer or not if some entity collapses the whole economy.

"If the idea that taxpayers will bail them out has led banks to make bad decisions..."

Ass-backwards. They ran wild, we bailed them out, they continue to run wild.

"...then isn't it high time to ask your representatives to decide that there will be no such thing as "too big to fail" from now on?"

If you can find a "representative" whose campaign wasn't financed by the industry...

That's OK. It is coming for everyone.

A lot of sleek "that's excellent" IT twentysomethings are in the process of finding out what their antique hand-carved Chinese canopy bed and their $2000 Henredon chairs bring when their perfect house is foreclosed on.
