More "Perception" Problems
A simple set of equations:
The citizens are the ones who have it right though - they (or their friends) are the ones sitting in the hospital bleeding or telling everyone who will listen at work, at home, on their social media site that they got attacked, beaten or robbed.
And the complaint throughout? The police never showed up. The police didn't care. It'll never be solved, so why bother to report it.
"Perception" is the least of our worries. This is a failure in progress of epic proportions.
- Less police = longer response times
- Longer response times = citizens not sticking around for a report
- No report = no reported crime
- No reported crime = crime "reduction"

I work in an Area. When detailed community alerts go out for patterns we get a steady stream of calls from people who say they were robbed by the same people and never reported it. Their reason is always either the police never showed up, or the station they went to said they had to go to the district of occurence to report it and they got frustrated and gave up. Make it difficult to report crime and less crime will be reported.
Word is spreading like wildfire about the wildings and lawlessness downtown.
The police manpower crisis and the two-tier system off discipline are destroying Chicago.
Perceptions are everything and people are not stupid as Rahm and Garry so ignorantly and foolishly believe. New manipulations and distortions of statistics on an endless basis just pisses people off. Tell the truth, address the underlying problems and rectify the situation!
Once Chicago's image is destroyed it's over!
The Magnificent Mile is the gem of Chicago and on par with Rodeo Drive, Fifth Ave, Champs Elysees or Causeway Bay.
Chicago can NOT afford to lose Michigan Ave!
Word of mouth will kill tourism in Chicago. Watch for conventions to start going elsewhere. It won't be because of the unions and costs. It will be because no one is going to feel safe walking around this city.
Where are the power elite?
Why aren't the Crowns, Pritzkers and Hiltons demanding action from Rahm?

Whether it's an $500 Iphone getting snatch or the cities own department of revenue writing up an fabricated tow order that cost a law abiding citizen $500 why bother calling the police or the alderman or the mayor of the inspector general.
It's the same batch of thieves on both sides and trying to take it to court to see justice done is throwing more of your hard earned money down the drain.
The law doesn't work for us. The politicians don't work for us. The system is broke. That's not just perception, it's reality!
Rahm and McCarthy have failed the citizens! Some liable lawsuits need to be thrown their way! Also some first amendment violations, persuit of happiness is not really being protected by their direct actions!
Shitbird tried to take my iphone on the el exact same time the guardian angels all got slashed on the red line el. But really, will a jury in Chicago convict a citizen who fought back with a gun? If I feel like this then that means 5000 others feel like me, to so the question I am asking is, "What's taking so fucking long, Chicago" Fuck this, Where is Paul Kearsey and Bernie Goetz when you really need them?
Yesterday Roe and Roeper made note of the violence to a comedian who is coming to Chicago this weekend to perform. I don't listen to WGN, but the violence is mentioned on just about all of the WLS radio shows.

Well my perception is that their was at least three people killed last night and over ten shot. On a wednesday, Gary.
I was riding my bike past Logan square monument last summer and there was a group of 3 white males being robbed by a larger group of about 6 blacks.....I stopped to see what was happening before i realized it was a robbery and the mob noticed and turned on me, luckly I'm relatively large and athletic so I fought the main trouble maker off and the rest of the shit birds noticed I wasent a push over so they retreated back to the monument. I rode a little down the street to call 911 and report I've been assaulted and that there was a gang of people jumping passerbys at the monument......they asked me to stay where i was and wait for a car. I waited 20min before I called back to tell them don't bother coming because I wouldn't be there to file a report and that I was leaving because I didn't feel safe
On top of that I have also had my house burglarized three times, (almost once a year at this point) now I own a rifle and a pistol and practice quite frequently with both, I refuse to be a victim anymore
Save the city, hire more cops
My son was jumped by irving park brown line last thursday, 3 gangster disciples.tried to take his dumb phone. I did not report it. I'm done with this city. waiting on a short sale, was hoping to be gone before the non heat related crime really starts to tick up and i'm taking my taxpaying ass and family to the burbs.
The key is to document the crime increase in reports. Take 10 mins and write a report for all these people instead of 19p. We are helping mcjersey shore show crime is down by not writing reports.

A lady calls and says she's lived in a high rise in Streeterville for 14 years, the last four years or so she won't walk to the store or Starbucks. Shes scared of the groups of youths Radio guy says are you saying groups of African American youths she stumbles around finally says yes. So essentially she is a prisoner in her home after 8 at night. Another white guy calls, says the same thing: afraid to walk the lakefront, can't use his phone on the street, won't take his family down there, the usual stuff. Radio guy says "it's overblown, come down, stay alert you'll be fine". Says we don't want to be seen as racist. Next guy calls, identifies himself as an in shape 36 yoa black man. His words. He says he is afraid too. Crosses the street when he sees the ten person teenage group of black kids coming at him. Asks the radio guy "you want to call me racist"? He further says that the black community has to take ownership of these thugs. Says "these are OUR kids"!
I could almost hear the liberal ass radio guy swallowing his tongue.

The total workforce utilization rate is going down meaning that we are losing tax revenue and that the burden of providing for the city services via employment tax revenues are falling on a smaller and smaller group of remaining workers making less and less wages.
This is touted as a win.

WGN Radio has hired itself a few shock jock tools that have been pumping out the most absurd propaganda lately in order to stimulate phone calls which in turn generates them advertising revenue.
If a caller calls out the radio guy and pins them in the corner on their logic it's amazing how the 21st century phone system get so unreliable that Sarah down at the central office switchboard accidentally pulls the plug on their connection and they're gone OR oh-oh-oh we're out of time gotta run.
Don't feed the trolls no matter how much they hit a hot button with their propaganda. Don't call in and support that crap radio that puts out the propaganda. Advertising sales rates are based on those call-in's

These summer programs run off a million dollar budget. You got $14 million in your war chest Rahm. Show us how you are all about the children. Walk the walk. Put the money up! You talk about reaching out to the communities. Start reaching out with a fist full of dollars..

An arrest (or basic report)that would generally take 1/2 hour to an hour takes up to 3 FUCKING hours.
Then with all the shit on the computer running slower due to the computers probably needing to be DEFRAGMENTED or CLEANED up due to the overusage or whatever.
WE THE POLICE ARE STUCK IN THE FUCKING STATION LONGER THAN USUAL OR THAN WE WANT OR SHOULD BE!!!
There is your manpower/back up/boots on the street problem!!!
Our technology is not updated and tends to be our downfall too.
Years ago when everything was on paper I was in and out and just complained about the GRUMPY desk fucks that took so long or the GRUMPY lock up guys to get a prisoner in.
All these added steps and closed lockups and now the computers are fucked up.
GOOD THING IS THE OVERTIME!!
BECAUSE everything goes there due to all aforementioned issues with computers regardless of how many cars are on the arrest or case....
NICE JOB whoever is in charge of QUALITY CONTROL in this dept.
Some real boneheads that have no clue about police work nor about what and how the technology shoud help us do this work fast, efficiently and properly!!!
