Two men who were killed and a 14-year-old boy who was wounded were among 13 people hurt in overnight gun violence across the city.
At least 30 people have been shot since 6:20 p.m. Friday, 7 of them fatally.
So for August, we're doing nearly two a day. We should be passing the August 2011 numbers later this week, so for all you cub reporters out there, start prepping your list of questions as soon as possible. You might not get a change at McWiggingOut, but Rahm has to surface at some point.

I have a count of 340 homicides from Jan 1, 2012 until now.
Only 160 more to hit that magic 500 number for the year. What is there about 17 weeks left in the year?

Ot: why hasnt the muslim who was shot downtown been charged accordingly......since he called 911 just before ramming a car and attempting to murder people, he called 911 and stated he was on a jihad to kill people downtown? Maybe cause that would mean bad press.. Wake up chicago media

We passed it already. 36 or 37 for August so far. Last year was 35.

Why hasn't Romney illustrated the utter hypocrisy of Michele Obama and Eric Holder?
They are all over the Oak Ridge, Wi Sikh shooting, expressing outrage, sadness and using it as a photo opportunity; while ignoring the plight of the poor, oppressed, African American children of their hometown.
Sounds like African American children's lives mean nothing to Obama.
So sad, Barack breaks my heart.
Please give the totals of murders for the month and year.

As the young yuppie woman walks downtown without a care in the world, the ghetto savage lurks nearby waiting to pounce. He approaches her wearing an Obama 2012 shirt, while she is distracted by her Apple product and pounces.
The woman screams as the beast struggles with her. Fortunately for her, he does not violate her sexually, as there are too many bystanders watching in horror while taking no action to come to her aid.
The ghetto savage makes good his escape as the mayor chants, "Do more with less!" The police will be by hours later to take a report, but the woman leaves, taking public transportation to be victimized yet again.
Admit it Rahm>>>>You're not as brilliant as you think you are....if you are to ever take a bow you need to get the over-all crime rate down, pronto..especially the murders, burglaries, robberies and rapes.
You didn't live her for awhile, in case you don't realize it..this city is a mess....Chicago 'IS' a Mess.
Its your job to fix it Rahm but you are going about it the wrong way...get this city back on the straight and narrow path. Forget the bike paths.

Forget murders, how about Robberies and Burglaries....UP TO THE SKY!
I don't always count homicides, but when I do I count on tiny dancer's city. The numbers are always higher.
I was at Christ when the 23 year old from 69th and Bishop was wheeled in. He was still talking and trying to get up. Powder burns on the neck, shot in the back, arm, leg, side. I know people just don't care and this is routine (my dad lives on 66th Lawndale--the man needs to MOVE) but still, when I saw that kid wheel in, I cried. I couldn't imagine my son getting shot or worse, caught in that lifestyle.

Because when you pick an issue to address, you don't pick humongous insolvable issues.
The Sihk shooting was an event. It is over and done with.
Inner city black-on-black murders are an issue that is so huge no one person can do anything about it. And the media and blacks won't even talk about it. Bill Cosby got flamed for bringing it up.
To start, the black community and society needs to called on the carpet and made to face its value system. Challenged and tasked with rebuilding their moral structure from the ground up.
But the Democrats won't do it because the blacks are their voting base and if the Repubs tried that they would be branded with the 2 worst labels one can have

a reporter should ask a resident of englewood, how they feel about rahm spending 100 m on bike paths. or what did rahm do to earn 25m while working for freddie mac? but as we all know there isnt a reporter with the moxy to do the inquery. its so much more gratifying to bum rap the cpd.
As long as the dead shithead count is higher than the retirement count Comstat is working.
That being said I'm sure going to miss the 600 men and women of this department who will pull the plug this year.
