It seems Pat's reign at the head of the FOP was a short one as the media sent him back to be spokesmodel:
Police shot a 21-year-old man who jumped out of a van they tried to pull over in the Chatham neighborhood early Friday morning, according to officials.
The pursuit started in the 7200 block of South Champlain Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood, Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden said.
A Gresham district car carrying four officers spotted a van driving with its side door open.
In any event, he pointed a gun at the officers, they shot him at least once. Good job all around.
Did anyone hear anything about shots fired at the police in 014? Some manic latin disciples...wait a minute, didn't we obliterate them? What's the deal there?

"A bus transporting students to a Far South Side parochial school was believed to have been hit by gunfire this morning as the vehicle was picking up children in the South Deering neighborhood, authorities said.
Neither the driver nor any of the students on the bus at the time were injured, police said.
Police were called to Our Lady of Guadalupe School, 9050 S. Burley Ave., about 7:50 a.m., following a report of criminal damage to a bus there, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada. Three men were charged with armed robbery after police said they held two others at gunpoint outside a McDonald's near State Street and Chicago Avenue early Thursday morning and ran through their pockets.

Because the CPD spokesperson is likely to slant the story in whatever direction Rahmbo dictates, while Camden has done a great job of getting facts out there you wouldn't otherwise see.

That's because 99.9% of you hairgels don't have clue the first on how to write paper or articulate facts in a straightforward fashion. Affirmative action and "too much college, not enough high school" has decimated this job. The generation that occupies the 1-10 years on the job is the lost/entitlement/instant gratification generation. Gately stadium tonight was chaos. Shots fired and hundreds fighting. One went I the hospital after getting stabbed and several others showed up at various hospitals in 007 022 and little company and Christ. No one shot as of yet but it got so bad they turned off the lights so it could not be recorded by the cameras that were there. I can honestly say I have not seen that much chaos in a long long time... We have lost control. This will result in shootings tonight and this weekend in 006 and 022... First off, say anything negative about Pat Camden but the guy has class, knows how to talk and has a lot of friends in the media can use his leverage to help a copper out. Some other post said nice things about a former cop Larry Schreiner who turned to be a news reporter, he is one of the biggest Jags out there, always trying to intimidate a copper at crime scenes. I know because at a fire scene many years back he tried his crap with me and failed.
From very appreciative 1412 citizen......thank you 14th Dist. (and every other CPD PO) for putting your lives on the line every day. The D's have never gone (and will never go) away unfortunately....they are rearing their ugly a$$es once again in the north west corner of 14. Last wk. 2 of the $hitheads were shot on Wisner and last night way too close for comfort for the boys/girls in blue on Allen (next block over). Glad offender is in custody. Wishful thinking that he gets charged with attempted murder, but sadly probably not.

Pat Camden represents the FOP, not the City or CPD. He tells our story which often went untold. After an incident the officers were getting slandered and hung out to dry. Offenders were taking shots at the police or other such criminal action and the only news account out there had the offender frequently being called the "victim." What does that make us?

Can't quite figure why this is of concern to you.
Anyway, the City can't be bothered to explain or defend its police officers' actions. This is why Pat Camden was hired by the FOP. He gets in front of the cameras and states the facts of the occurrence and explains the actions of the officer(s).
News Affairs exists solely to pander to the media's needs. They are not there to support the officers.

Probably because all ancillary functions of the police department have been stripped bare and when someone leaves, they're not replaced. Most of them are probably MON-FRI, 0900-1700-types, so if your looking for someone outside of those times, you're out of luck. The ones that remain there are most likely typing up press releases on our latest "strategy", that the media is printing without bothering to fact check.
We're so short, it hurts.

Yup, it's coming as of this Sunday, 0001 hours. Chief Bryne was in the area tonight and confirmed it. The reasoning behind it is because so many UUW case are being tossed at the preliminary hearing. However, this seems to be an ASA issues, not CPD. He said the ATF is under pressure and will get involved if the offenders provides some go info.
Secondly, this should be handled by the VC detectives. UUW is not a property crime. But hey, according to McJersey shore, CPD is not the real police.

There is a M/1 cameraman with WGN who drives a dark Ford Crown Vic. Total jerk to the police. Gets very pushy and in your face at crime scenes. Parks with police with his Crown Vic. I threw him out of a scene when he invaded and stuck a camera in a victim's face. His response was to angrily back off and scream at me "I'm going to put you on TV, wanna mess with ME?" as he trained his video camera at me. Fucking jag off animal. I was too busy to bother with arresting the jagoff. My paper. And of course my co-workers just ignored the guy.

Hey detective - fuck you. I'm sorry you didnt get to go to college, nor have you decided to take advantage of one of the few perks this job offers - tuition reimbursement. But let's lay blame where blame is due - on the State's Attorney's office. Why the fuck do we need to call for 'felony review' anyway? No one else in law enforcement anywhere else does this bullshit. You are a professional, practicing law enforcement officer - if someone commits a crime that statutorily meets the requirements for a felony charge, YOU the officer should be able to apply that charge. Larry Schreiner was a complete fool. He had a Deputy Superintendent for a tep father or he would never have made it on the Department. He did drive another Asst Deputy Superintendent who was also kind of a screwball and was married to a female P.O. for a short time. During his tenure as a Vice Officer in 18 he had the distinction of being beaten up by one of the regular ladies of the evening because he was needlessly hassling her. Nobody would work with him. He started his radio career by buying a bunch of scanners and other equipment, roaming the streets at night and anytime he found anything he called the Wally Phillips morning show. Phillips paid him for a while and finally got him actually hired by WGN. He didn't last long. He would stab you in the back in a moment.
Just curious. Who really gives a shit about the 014th district secretary being dumped? She should be thankful for the three years she didn't have to push a beat car around the district. No sympathy here.

Hey detective - fuck you. I'm sorry you didnt get to go to college, nor have you decided to take advantage of one of the few perks this job offers -tuition reimbursement. But let's lay blame where blame is due - on the State's Attorney's office. Why the fuck do we need to call for 'felony review' anyway? No one else in law enforcement anywhere else does this bullshit. You are a professional, practicing law enforcement officer - if someone commits a crime that statutorily meets the requirements for a felony charge, YOU the officer should be able to apply that charge. I don't give a shit what the ASA does when it get before a judge -keep the charge and work the case or pussy out and downgrade. That decision is on them and they can justify it then.
Same thing with this bullshit cannabis ANOV. The courts simply could have changed how the prosecute those cases by decreeing that ALL cannabis charges are an automatic fine - no nolle or SOL. My 6 year old could put his thoughts together and formulate better sentences. One of the guys I work with has 8 years on the job. He is very good with paper, organized and his thoughts are articulated well. I worked recently with another 8 year wonder and he had a DUI, again, well thought out, well articulated. Very competent. Some of these new guys are just fine.
