Crime Continues

While everyone is distracted by the Peterson case and the DNC, people keep getting shot across the city - well, they keep getting shot on the south and west sides at least. This one sounds interesting:
  • One man was killed and another critically injured in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway that caused a vehicle to crash into a building in the South Side Chatham neighborhood, police said.

The shooting happened about 11:40 p.m. as three men in a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee were getting on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway using the 87th Street ramp, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Steven Tufenkjian said. The shots were apparently fired from another vehicle.

Larry Porter, 25, of the 10000 block of South Parnell Avenue, was dead at the scene, according to officials.

And this line finishes the article:

  • State police are investigating the shooting while Chicago police are investigating the crash.
So is it ours?

Our detectives are overworked as it is. The clearance rate is about 25%. Let the State have this one.

Our condolences to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, what a waste of a good vehicle.

It doesn't matter who investigates, if it occurred within the city limits, it's a Chicago homicide.

Chances are, if the State investigates the murder, it might be solved. If we get it, not much likelihood it'll ever be cleared.

It's okay SCC, because just like Rahm said, its only happening in certain areas and crime is down 10%.

So does it count as a homicide for Chicago stats? It should, it did occur in Chicago.

So my question is, what is CPD investigating if the driver died as a result of the GSW to the head? The article states ISP is handling the shooting.

Think if we didnt have the overtime violence initiative.

With that many more officers working to control the violence, it had to have left an impact.

I think we would have already topped 500 homicides had not Mac put this strategy into the works.

HE should really think about extending this year round, even in the winter months, just to set the tone for next year.

That we will keep coming after these mutts, till we regain control.

Dont give them a chance to regroup!

That's how the original pledge from the early 1930s was written...it was also supposed to be recited while rendering a "Heil Hitler"-like salute, until WWII broke out, that is. I despise the D-Rats too...just sayin'.

This reminds me of an incident that happened about 15 years ago. Pookie pulls an armed robbery at a place of business just west of the Dan Ryan and flees eastbound. For some reason he decides to run down the ramp onto the Dan Ryan near 55th Street and proceeds to get whacked and killed by a truck while trying to run eastbound across the southbound lanes. CPD bosses initially dumped the whole mess on ISP claiming that jurisdiction occurs "where the body lays" or some such nonsense. Clearer heads prevailed though, and ISP handled the fatal crash while CPD took the armed robbery.

This is part of Rahm and McCarthy's plan to lower the homicide rate in Chicago. All murders are now to occur only on the expressways and ISP will be handling them.

The Rebublicans were accused of bieng insensitive when they continued their convention while Isaac was making landfall in N.O
How many people died during that
? I heard of 2 deaths related to Issac.

Now, compare how many people died in Chicago during the Dem. convention.

How insensitive of them to party and get drunk (Grandholm?) while people are dying on our streets.

Hypocritical assholes
