Photos Leaked?
- The family of a South Side man killed in a horrific pit bull attack is outraged that a grisly photograph of his death has surfaced on the Internet – and may have been posted by a police officer.
[...] It all began the night of Aug. 16 in a second-floor Englewood apartment. That’s when 44-year-old Charles Hagerman was mauled to death by at least one pet pit bull.
A few days later, a YouTube posting appeared. The opening title card read, in part, “CPD Photo. Do not forward.”
First of all, is it an official photo, taken by the Crime Lab, and circulated around? That's a whole other can of worms.
L0ong time readers know exactly how we feel about unauthorized photos, seeing as how we had months and years of material at the expense of someone who should have been disciplined harshly over her photos, but because of who she knows and who she worked for, got to skate on an obvious Rules violation.

I heard if you look very closely at this photo, in the background is a certain female blonde haired cpd sgt.
Well said
There's a story about a small department in a southern state. Deputy goes serves a warrant and the offender and his friend or brother kill the deputy. They get a hold of the crime scene photos and get a billboard put on his property displaying the photo of the slain cop. No one says shit.
The county says it's ok because shithead can put whatever on his property and the photo is ok because it's public information.
But a cop post a pic of a dead guy that police didn't kill and society is upset.
I hope that the PO who took the pic in the first place has plenty of cash saved up for "dude's" family after punitive damages are awarded.

And the media was tipped by a cop....says it in the story.
indefensible and beyond stupid...
Hmmmm, my bet would be Rahm's new criminal janitorial crew. Case closed! Maybe background checks are in order now for these mopes. Or maybe they have an unofficial shoe shine guy that sets up shop there and runs a business without any licenses like other west side districts allow to happen.

Its disgusting. Society there has said stuff about it. If you fail to see the difference though, you have a problem. A citizen putting photos up that were public record, while disgusting, is legal. The police leaking photos of someone (or their relative) in a moment of weakness is not ok.
what is wrong with po's? we all like being able to sneak across that crime scene tape and taking a quick look but thanks to this dummy they may start really cracking down. dumb!

Since the Dept. went digital everyone and his brother have access to scene photos.

Sooo...Your point is....?
I would be upset. It's disgusting. Regardless of who the victim might be, how would you feel if that was your father/brother/son whose mauled picture was taken by the police investigating the scene got posted on the internet. Have a little bit of professionalism. People wonder why we get such a bad rap so much of the time.
I was disturbed when a buddy of mine tried to show the pic to me and a female friend on his phone. It seems a lot of p.o.s and the sgt took pics which is completely disgusting. I was also told that the animinal care and control guy also took a pic. This is not joke and from someone who refused to look at the pic on a p.o.'s iphone.
To 12:34 AM. Let it go you act like a child
Enjoy your suspension. Don't ask me to come to your benefit dummy.
I wanna know who the dildo is that notified CBS and not the department. That's a rule violation too.

it doesen't look like the video was posted by an officer
it seems that someone got the picture message and decided to make a fuss about it, since the video is called "chicago police human rights voilation"
I don't like when people take pictures at crime scenes or of dead people. It's wrong, disgusting, sick, morbid and unprofessional. If you're one of the idiots that do this, how would you like it if someone took photos of your dead family member?
idiots.... We just cant help ourselves can we

and you go ahead and try to get that rule violation to stick... I can see it already. The p.o turned to the only outlet he trusted due to the fear of retaliation from bosses and other officers in the chicago police department. The chicago police department has a documented history of "covering" for eachother and retaliating against those who "rat" on other cops yada yada yada... the copper would be covered easily under whistle blower laws. If he got in trouble he could be awarded millions. Man, I should have been a lawyer!
Crime scene photos do not say "CPD Photo. Do not forward." The photos never have anything printed or added onto them. That's considered manipulation and is never allowed. So us on the inside would like to let the outside know that we didn't produce that photo, and is clearly someone else.

Amen!!! Makes you wonder why no one believes us anymore. Idiots.

It was obviously a copper at the crime scene taking a pic on their phone then sending it to someone.

Covering for each other? What dept do you work for. CPD doesn't cover for anyone even when there is evidence to exonerate them. We live in hard times and if a Department member took that photo they used poor judgement.
Don't you remember under Kline he issued digital cameras to each detective division because he wanted the crime scene photos immediately emailed to bosses at headquarters? None of the D units could understand why they need to see photos immediately. Wouldn't have the facts of the case enough?

Then it must be true ....
Who gives a crap. If he didn't want his carcass photo out there, he shouldn't have died.
This was probably done to demonize a breed of dog which is actually gentle and great with children. Nevermind who the SAME USUAL SUSPECTS ARE that terrorize and abuse these animals until they are killing machines.
-Edison Park Resident (and pit mix owner)
Still no word on the commander who didn't secure her guns? No cr yet?

say 'cheese'.
So much for news people not divulging sources. Couldn't they just say we don't give out info on sources?
