2013 - Just Like 2012

  • In the first homicide of 2013, a 20-year-old man was killed in West Town, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Octavius Dontrell Lamb, 20, was shot in the throat in the 700 block of North Noble around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday. Lamb was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 4:16 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

  • Besides Lamb, Kevin Jemison, 29, was shot in the head about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood, authorities said. Jemison, of the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he died less than an hour later.

Just before 5 p.m., Devonta Grisson, 19, was shot in the chest during an apparent drive-by in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood, in the 5800 block of South Sacramento Avenue, police said. Grisson, of the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue, was dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Three dead and 15 others wounded and the year isn't even 24 hours old yet. Taking this to the logical CompStat conclusion, Chicago should experience 1095 homicides and 5475 wounded. Way to Garry!

It's good to start out strong. 364 days to go. Someone set up the Chalkie-o-meter so we can keep track more accurately than Garry's " new math" method. And, we have one less day this year. '12 was a leap year. Pace yourself, Chicago, it's a marathon, not a sprint, but I know we can do it. Together, we can!!!

Evidence Techs are like trying to get the cable guy out to your house now -

"ummm yeah, we'll get someone out there in the next seven to ten days. They'll be there somewhere between 9am and 5 pm. If no-one shows after 10 days just give us a call back. Oh and don't touch anything k? bye-bye"

Huh, well what do you know. Ten days later and there's no more crime scene no complainant. Crime's down.

Not quite but real close no?

OT OT (sorry for the length)
Any one know if there is any truth to this?
URGENT ALERT – YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
CULLERTON TO INTRODUCE ON JANUARY 2ND
The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called “assault weapons” ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its “lame duck” session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police.
Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called “assault weapons” but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE YOUR GUNS.
    1. Beginning Wednesday, call your State Senator and politely tell him or her that you are a law abiding firearm owner and that you strongly oppose Cullerton’s gun ban. Also, be sure to call your State Representative as well and politely deliver the same message. If you do not know who your State Representative please call the Illinois State Board of Elections at 217-782-4141 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 217-782-4141 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
    2. Forward this alert to all your gun owning friends and family members. Be sure to tell them to call their senators and representatives as well.
    3. Post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards and blogs to which you belong.
    4. Join or renew your membership in the ISRA. Encourage your friends and family to join as well.
    5. Make a generous donation to the ISRA

It still makes me laugh when I think about him saying that weather has nothing to do with crime.

While barometric pressure and the dew point probably have no direct relation to the homicide rate, when it's warmer out there are more targets standing on the street corner, waiting to be shot.

Surely it doesn't take a genius to know that.

Does not really matter who is in charge, the weather or the amount of guns on the street in regards to the amount of homicides. What matters is the amount of Police we have. What matters is we are so short of Police Officers everywhere in the Department. Hire more Police = less crime and less homicdes. Keep letting the ranks dwindle = more crime and more homicides. Pretty simple, hire more Police and get rid of Ladner who is also slowing the process.

Riddle me this Rahm, Toni, Pat and Garry: How can Chicago, which is in Cook County, which is in Illinois, which have the most restrictive firearm laws in the country, lead the country in homicides and homicides by firearms?

How about is being the simple fact that certain segments of society have and never have had, no regard for the rights of others.

AS long as the leftist, excuse makers believe that it is all society's fault, it is not going to stop.

Too bad the contributors to society are at the mercy of the takers of society.

    UNBELIVEABLE....
17-year old Keith Cozart, also known as “Chief Keef”, was accused of this violation after reportedly purchasing and living in a home in north suburban Northbrook without notifying authorities.

Cozart’s attorneys argued Wednesday the rapper has spent much time recording at his manager’s home/studio in Northbrook.

Juvenile Court Judge Carl Anthony Walker said he had not been presented “any credible evidence” that the teen had moved from his south suburban Dolton home.

The rapper is on probation after a juvenile conviction for pointing a gun at a police office

No it's not like 2012. You will pay significantly more in city, state and federal taxes.

You are taking home alot less this year....but the mutts that never worked a day in their lives will have health care on your dime. You should have a good feeling in your heart for that, though.

Oh, naive civilian. Every station and every unit has an arrangement like this. All the rest of them use the profit for pizzas, or parties, or funeral flowers, though.
Pocketing the profit is immoral, and theft.

Haven't had a 002 tact party since this guy took over "the store'. Last year all of the other tact Sgts kicked in for the party for their team members. This guy refused. His team didn't show up and he wants to know why. Why should they have to pay for somthing that everyone else gets for free?? Biggest asshole to ever hit 002.

The new 002 just like the old 002 only difference is that they can't seem to find anyone to work for a certain Sgt. on a certain Tact team. Guys finally fed up with him picking his own hours and him leaving early on their "Friday" without telling his troops. Need an hour on the front? Gotta bring him lunch but he comes and goes as he pleases and can't even approve an inventory beacuse he can't be torn away from playing his computer games. All he seems to care about is selling chips and soda out of the Sgt's. office and pockets the profits.Team is down to 5 people and he still continues to wonder why he can't keep anyone on his team. Good luck to J.T. who made the bid to escape. You will be missed.

The fucking asshole is making sergeants pay and he is selling chips and soda and pocketing the profits? Sounds like someone has too much time on their hands.

As long as Waller is there so is N.S. cause that's his guy. Why would you leave a dickhead in charge of a team if you can't get anyone to work for him? The new 002 same as the old 002. No benefit to busting your ass on that team.

Anonymous NYT: "SHOCKED" BY CHICAGO said...

As cited in THEE RANT, "The Old Gray Lady" is "SHOCKED" by the "uneven distribution" of homicides in Chicago on just the South and West Sides.

Check THEE RANT and today's NEW YORK TIMES.

    duh!

Perhaps, NYT writer Monica Davey might also check the disparate difference in NYC homicides on the Upper East Side, Park Slope and Tottenville with Brownsville and East New York.

    Still "shocked", Monica?

A Cook County judge will go on trial next month on a misdemeanor charge alleging she shoved one courthouse deputy and threw a pair of keys at another.

Judge Cynthia Brim has pleaded not guilty to the battery charge.

Her lawyer, James Montgomery Sr., reiterated at a court hearing today that the defense at trial will be that the judge was legally insane at the time of the incident last March. The jury trial was scheduled for Feb. 4 and is expected to take two days.

DuPage County Judge Liam Brennan was brought in to preside over the case since Cook County judges had potential conflicts of interest with Brim, who won retention to the bench in the November election despite the charge hanging over her head.

Brim, 54, was suspended from her $182,000 job after her arrest for allegedly shoving a deputy at the Daley Center. A day earlier, she had been removed from her own courtroom in the Markham Courthouse after launching into a 45-minute tirade.

She has not returned to the bench since her suspension

    you voted for her right?
