Gun Map Taken Down

  • A suburban New York newspaper that outraged gun owners by posting the names and addresses of residents with handgun permits removed the information from its website Friday.

The Journal News took down the data just three days after the state enacted a gun control law that included privacy provisions for permit holders.
And guess what else? The momentum is shifting:
  • Nearly twice as many voters say there would be less violent crime if more law-abiding Americans owned guns, than if guns were banned.

In addition, while American voters generally favor strengthening gun laws, 71 percent do not think tougher laws can stop shootings like the one last month in Newtown, Connecticut. Some 22 percent say new laws can prevent the next Sandy Hook.
Overreach by the left is leading to a realization that blaming everyone and everything except the criminal committing the crime is a bad idea.

Display/carry a gun in a crime - 3 years no probation. Discharge a gun at another human being - 10 years no probation. Hit that human (or gangbanger) - 20 years no probation. Kill someone unlawfully with that gun you get the needle and obviously, no probation there. We keep arresting the same guys. This would stop that.

Net result: considerable tax dollar savings and safer communities.

That sentence means that it preempts the home rule powers of Chicago to ban handguns or the carry thereof.

My understanding is that this bill is just a redo of a failed bill from last session and that the real bill the NRA is working on will be much better.

Someone posted a video produced where people went around to the homes of those who work at the paper, asking if they would put "Gun Free Home" signs on their lawn that they offered. It was excellent. If the original poster could post it again, I highly, highly recommend watching it.

Someone should publish a list of all the people who work at the paper and say that they do not believe in gun ownership and most likely don't have guns in their homes! And include what hours they work!

When people were dying in car accidents, we didn't ban cars. We implemented tougher seat belt laws.

While most of these mass shootings have been committed by people with mental illness, instead of addressing mental illness the left wants to address the weapons used. in fact under the democrats, funding for mental illness has declined, leaving more mentals roaming our streets.

I don't think that watering down the 2nd Amendment will prevent similar situations (like mass shootings by mentally deranged people) in the future.

Those who sacrifice their liberty for the appearance of more security deserve neither (Ben Franklin, founding father of the USA)

Project Veritas did a hilarious take-down of the hypocrite yellow-pinky media libs behind the publishing of pistol permit holders info in upstate N.Y.

*Citizens Against Senseless Violence*

Would you like a sign to go on your front lawn that reads "This Home Proudly Gun-Free?"

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh! *PoopInDaPants!* Uhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Also hilarious was the number of media members who had armed security...

Liberals are funny when they're stone cold busted!

"That sign might be an invitation for somebody with a gun to come into my house!"

If a civilian can ask a question regarding the gun deaths here in Chicago, of all of the over 500 homicides in 2012, how many resulted in arrests? How many of these armed killers are still out there and how will new laws proposed make us safer? Thank

Adjust our homicide rates to account for the vast improvements in trauma care developed during the Iraq war. I believe we would have adjusted rates exceeding those of the early 1990's.

THE MAP: WHERE DO THE JOURNAL-NEWS EMPLOYEES LIVE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?

"In the wake of the Journal-News publication of lists of law-abiding citizens, responsible gun owners thought the community should know where media employees in their community were, in part to give parents an opportunity to make careful decisions about their children’s safety."

GUN MAP WAS PUBLICITY STUNT TO PUSH WEB TRAFFIC OF FAILING NEWSPAPER

"I monitor [the Journal-News] lohud.com 24/7 so I saw the story as it was published to the web. I could not believe what I was seeing -- what I perceived to be a transparent attempt to intimidate and ostracize law-abiding citizens by using the Newtown murders as a pre-text to advance an anti-gun agenda and draw traffic to the site.

[The interviewer] worked there so [he knows] about their cost-cutting, outsourcing and pay-wall approach and how desperate things have become at the paper. At best, this map reeked of a stunt to drive traffic at the expense of private citizens who had done nothing that warranted having their privacy violated. In fact, I will not be surprised if there is a class-action lawsuit on privacy grounds.

"I can only laugh when the publisher claims the map is "journalism". The map is more like voyeurism than journalism with the Journal News acting as a digital "Peeping Tom", peering into the bedrooms of thousands of people just because they can. } The result is a map that is a bizarre form of "gun porn"."

Local stories the Journal-News did NOT cover --

"A member of the NJCAA National Championship women's basketball team delivers a savage beating to a teammate. While the victim of the assault is in the hospital she receives a text message from her assailant threatening to kill her, and her mother with a gun she keeps at an apartment on campus.

"School officials recovered a loaded 9mm Semi-Automatic Carbine. Before the District Attorney could bring charges the player fled the state. The player was kicked off the team, the other player suspended and the coach fired because he knew of the gun and failed to report it to school officials or the police.

The Journal News did not cover this story at all. Monroe College is a major advertiser in Westchester County.

another thing the left has managed to do is alienate their own base.. people on the left (and yes there are MANY) who believe in the 2nd amendment and actually believed OBUMER and defended him saying he would NOT go after guns are TOTALLY AWAKE now.. only the wing nuts are still defending him.,. last I saw MORE young people are taking gun classes and buying guns BEFORE the out and out ban and CHIPPING begins..

there's a reason that the saying, 'youth is truly wasted on the young' came to be an old saying.
