Can we keep an accurate total of homicde reductions since the new Sup came to town? He will be delcaring drops in homicides based on the historic highs of last year. He should be judged based on the stats from the last administration. That being said homicides are are up compared to Weis's last Janurary in office. Weis had 28 homicides in 2011. He also had the disbanded specialzed units rolling at that time. The nuw superintendant has 30 homicides under his admin already this year. He needs to be held accountable to the stats like everyone else. Wonder if he will be put in the compstat hot seat soon!

OT but definitely sports related:

Former Orioles manager Earl Weaver dies at 82

By Peter Schmuck, The Baltimore Sun
9:25 a.m. CST, January 19, 2013

Hall of Famer Earl Weaver, the cantankerous baseball wizard who led the Orioles to the World Series in each of his first three full seasons as manager, died yesterday. He was 82.

Weaver died Friday night while on a cruise, according to Monica Barlow, the team’s public relations head.

The legendary Earl of Baltimore managed parts of 17 major league seasons in Baltimore and the Orioles failed to post a winning record under him only once (1986). His career was defined by an affinity for the three-run home run and a long-running, public feud with superstar pitcher Jim Palmer that both men jokingly played to whenever together.

Weaver won six American League East titles, four pennants and one world title. His .583 career winning percentage ranks fifth among modern managers (since 1900) with at least 10 seasons in the major leagues. Factor in his reputation as one of the games great strategists and it's no wonder that he was selected by the Hall of Fame Veterans Committee for induction at Cooperstown in 1996.

Hockey offers nothing different from other professional sports. Many, but not all, millionaire thugs playing a game in front of foolishly devoted fans who, for the most part, are normally sane people, however, they allow themselves to be overcome with a selective, inexplicable insanity and mass hysteria of the highest order that is accepted, or overlooked, by the rest of society. Get a hobby instead of going to a sports temple and worshipping false gods. Ticket prices will fall and become affordable. And professional sports organizations will be forced to demand personal integrity of the players. When the day comes that a thug is shunned by professional sports, look to the sky because pigs will be flying. Until then, not a nickel for thugs in professional sports.

Don't know how I feel about hockey this year. It's not even a season to me. I also feel betrayed by a bunch of rich people playing a game that they would still play even if they didn't get paid. Interesting how some players went over seas to play for nearly nothing. The players have a job that is an absolute blast to do and they make millions doing it. Everyone is telling us and the rest of working America, "you need to tighten your belts and understand in this economy there is no money for raises and perks," while the players keep asking for more from the owners who in return pass the cost onto the fans who are told to "tighten their belts." Tickets, concessions, parking, etc. etc. etc. keeps going up while the players cry they aren't getting enough. Besides raises they also want better pensions. Funny cause we are told "No pension for you." I'm sure I'll end up watching hockey cause the NBA sucks!

Wonder who's decision it was to run a little Sandy Hook tribute during the Hawks-Kings pregame right after the Kings player recognition? After the lockout, why would the NHL want to touch a heated subject like that shortly after Obama's overreach on the second Amendment. I immediatly turned the game off, not a good way to come back after a lock out, NBC just won't lay off the politics.

Once again, another clueless, casual fan. The dismantling of that team was going to happen whether they won the Cup, lost in the playoffs, or completely missed them. It was the salary cap and economics for the 2010-11 season that forced them to trade/release almost half of that team.

I would guess that NHL players over all are the lowest paid pro's. I played with a certain south side goalie who had a few years in the NHL.Not a millionaire by any means, and a very paltry pension.
Fuck the owners and give these guys something to live on once you have bled them dry, and made your tall cash on them.
Sounds vaguely familiar?

I'm guessing your the guy that never got picked to play any sport because of numerous reasons, maybe too slow, mommie didnt want you to get hurt, intellectual introvert etc. Do us that know the beauty of the game of hockey a favor, dont lump it in with the other scandal ridden sports, the ones where they cant speak an intelligible sentence and kill someone after winning the super bowl. Those that play the sport from the pee wee leagues to the NHL are taught by their parents and coaches the values of hard work, sacrifice, respect honor and tradition. And the pros would play for the Cup on a frozen pond under headlights in 0 degree weather if thats what it took. But you wouldnt understand cause you never laced em up

I cleaned her using new Hoppe's #9, the Chanel No. 5 of guns. I carefully wiped her off and oiled her, I wrote a short poem and made sure that if I really need her there won't be a malfunction caused by a failure to keep her clean and maintained. Take care of your weapon and your weapon will take care of you.

Her name is Linda.

Cpt. Lipman and the others sued because Perry dumped all te white people off of the desk and other positions because she wanted blacks to have the positions. Lipman and the others sued for discrimination and they won. They got cash. And deserved it. Perry was a racist.

Lipman was a tact officer, sgt and I think tact Lt in 021. She made Captain the same way they all make it now: submit a resume and make a phone call. Thats the system these days. I worked for her in 022. She was open, fair and cared about her people. I'm retired now and have nothing to gain by speaking for her. She was a good boss, and if you give her a chance she will prove it.

Bullshit. She submitted a resume and interviewed for captain, but she did not make it. She sued and they caved. And she was never a tact officer or sergeant. Plus, she is not as nice as you think.

It's got to be tough to live in your mothers basement with your 11 cats playing video games all day. Millionaire thugs? Yes it is common place for hockey players and their posse's to shoot up a night club and get arrested for sexual assault.

You are an idiot. Hockey is a form of entertainment and that's all it is. I don't see the golden statues erected for these "false gods". And cheering for yor team does not make someone insane. Next time you watch a sporting event, turn it off. You sir are not allowed to watch anything that entertains you, that includes Star Trek, because you are the reason that the actors are making all their money and driving their bently's, have drug problems, and die young.

SCC should have canned your post because you are just dumb. Go back to your desk at 35th street and cower.

Your guess is incorrect, but regardless, it is of no matter to the subject at hand. And your insults are merely a smoke screen because all you have is misguided emotion, not truth, to back your position.

Having children watch pro-players punch each other bloody on the ice is a wonderful way to teach the values of working your muscles while hard-fist fighting, the sacrifice of blood and teeth for no good reason, the respect and honor of bullying and thuggery and a tradition of violence over reason. Yes, pro-hockey is a wonderful sport. Keep up the good work.

And, I am so glad you can speak for all the professional hockey players. Thank you for the insight. You must have been elated when they elected you to speak for them?
