Long time fan here. In 011, we have around 48 marked cars assigned to the watch. This morning, we are currently down 21 cars with no pools available citywide.
Evidently, this is another crime fighting strategy by the Department. There is no crime if you can't respond to it.
We guess all the pointing out that Fleet is in disarray over the past few years has finally come home to roost. No word if 011 District cars are going out manned three and four deep yet. It can't be far off though, unless they're going back to foot patrols.

behind area one in the lot they keep the wrecked cars. there are about 50 cars that are sitting there that still run and could still be used on the street. yes, they all have over 120,000 miles but its still a car. The city put them away so they can sell them away and make money on them. Mechanically these vehicles are sound, just used heavily and high mileage. Heres an Idea, how about you give those cars to the inside people at 35th street and all the other units who are assigned cars but only use them about 3 or 4 times a month... there are dozens of those cars sitting at 35th street.. the only difference is that the marked fords that these people at 35th have are practically brand new. They use these vehicles for errands, department related chores and possibly a day out on the street.. how about you give them the high mileage crap cars since they use them for barely anything and you give the 30+ nice gently used fords at 35th to the districts. I mean it makes sense right?? also, the airports. Ohare was one of the first places to get 12 new explores. yeah, the airports really need the brand new explores. how about the districts get those also. Even in the unit I work in our cars are complete junk. We wouldnt mind getting more cars even if they are junk or not. We are begging for cars.. just as long as they roll and have heat im fine.
Hey if you're in 011 during the AM hours go commit some crimes--only 27 cars.

This is city wide. No cars, cars are downed and no pools citywide to replace them. Hell there aren't sgt cars without cages to have officers ride three or four to a vehicle. Also, add the fact that FTOs are now assigned two PPOs and are only to take careless vehicles out to accommodate that mess the city created too. But hey it's the city that works right

OT- If you wanna hear about bozos just look at our fearless leader on 2nd watch. Our lead by example boss has turned the watch into a free for all. Lets talk facts. Numerous great sgts have left directly due to his incompetent dumb ass thinking he is god and messing with the sgts. One went to 012, one went to 017, two went to 020, all because this bozo/JA just likes to mess with people. Fact-seven people have left the second watch. In 15 years in 011 I have never seen this many people leave. It is directly due to his overgrown ego messing with blue shirts.
The best thing is, yes he changed everyones car, and start time except for two people. 1132 second watch kept her car. Now could it have to do anything with 1132 second watch having some cozy time with the DSS on second watch? Or maybe that the DSS got her out of an ugly DUI at Ohare airport a few years back. When she was drunk off her ass and got pulled over by the police at the airport her first call was to LT J.A. and he came running to save her. I wonder how much she had to do for the LT for that one. Oh and this is the same officer who shot herself in the projects a few years back.
This is the same LT/J.A. who wrote a long letter saying how he supports the troops and how the city has to back their police officers. Bunch of bullshit right out of his mouth. This is the same Lt who had a closed door meeting with the former 1111 and told him he doesn't have enough activity to stay on an early car. Best thing the officer did was to tell him I don't respond well to threats and ALL I HAVE TO DO IS ANSWER MY CALLS.
Like I said before, the bosses need us more then we need them. Our 2nd watch DSS is totally out of control with his bullshit and thinks bullying us is gonna get us to write more contact cards. Maybe he can scare the new 1125 into writing contact cards cause she has no time on the job, or scare RAMBO/COBRA into making arrests but most of us with time on the job are not gonna fall for the LTs charade.
Oh one last fact. This morning the good old LT was bragging how he made the blog. He is proud to be an asshole and likes being on the blog. What a narcissistic loser. Do you think his big black Ford Raptor has any significance into his tiny man issues?

The last week in 007the tbird watch has had no cars either, we had to wait over half hour the other day for a car, where did all the cars go???
010 same situation. Rapids still down and the ones there , there are no vehicles. The glorious 1065 team hasn't (10 po's and an ass kissing/kicking sgt. Haven't had vehicles in weeks and when they do they ride on laps 10 deep.
Same in 009. Hear P.O. on radio have to get picked up as her car was downed for maintenance and she was carless for rest of tour. I am so done with this job it's not even funny. I go to work and do nothing but my calls and respond to a 10 1 of course. Anyone working out there is a fool.
So there is an increase in the decrease of the number of cars we have?
Maybe the dept could get all the pdts back in range permanently too. Since the pcad system upgrade a few weeks ago, the pdts go in and out of range constantly.
Foot posts, like NYPD are coming by 01 March. 75 percent will be mandated to walk the beat.
OT- Is Sgt AZ from 011 still runing the 3rd. Watch ?

It gets pretty bad that when you go in the 011th dist stall and see a picture of a reproductive organ so carefully scrawled on the wall you dont even need an arrow with the name to know it referes to Lt JA. My favorite memory of that boss hole on 3rd watch is hiim reading roll call and putting every copper on the spot demanding to know "what did you do for the company yesterday."

Wasn't rahm bragging hat he bought Cpd "over 500 new explorers" made a the ford plant in Chicago? Where are they? What about all the new "frontline" unmarked cars with almost no mileage sitting on 51st that ar used only for the politicians and the bosses when their cars are in for service!
The problem with the cars is that they are fixed by fleet management. We work for them like we work for OEMC. My point is, they aren't the police and don't really care about the overall operation. We lost the cohesion when it was decided to break off all the bits and make new city departments to 'save' money. Couple that with a lack of will on the part of City Hall to do the right thing and properly fund any of this. The spiral dive continues.

The 1065 team are a bunch of 3 year wonders that will do anything their hard charging/asks kicking sergeant tells them they don't deserve a management spot on 3 watch. They need to bid their time and when they get enough time they can bid to a different watch. They bring nothing but drinkers pissers and misdemeanor arrests in. I don't think they have brought one good arrest. 025 laughed and said the sgt is your problem now good riddance. They are screwing up the numbers game for compost meetings and for next year. All beat cars and rapid cars get vehicles first then if there is anything left over you can have it. The team is a bunch of tools period. You can walk around or drive around in circles for all I care. You don't need a car for 2 people. The watch hates you. The tact teams hate you. You are not a tact team. The tact teams bring in quality of arrests not quantity of arrests like you do. Go back to midnights

The only fact about JA is that he plateaued at lieutenant and will thankfully never get beyond that rank. His reign (if you consider running one watch in a shitty west-side district of Chicago a kingdom) in 011 will be over when he retires shortly. Coppers like Retired Capt. John Farrell are legends on the CPD, this goof will leave as a letter writer.

I totally agree with everything except the airport comment, and no I do not and have not ever worked there.(but I wanted to) with the amount of people who travel through those airports from around the world everyday, I don't it's a bad idea to have the shiny new vehicles assigned there. I know it sucks for you guys in the Districts, I understand, but I also understand the City trying to give the illusion that everything is shiny and new to outsiders. Now they should work on the way some of these coppers in the airport look and behave if they want to follow through with that idea of making us look good, otherwise may as well turn those SUV's out to the ghetto where the coppers are being shit on daily.

speaking of the softball Lt JA, when he was in the 8th district as a sgt his personal car was a box chevy dressed up to look like a squad cage and all with ispern plate. All very police like but the guy was never the police, he was an empty shirt when he trained in 014 as well. He was the anonymous author of a scathing letter sent to headquarters in which he complained about a certain captain not holding stand up inspections/rollcalls and of that same captain being in civilian dress all the time. He may have the rank, but take some comfort in the fact that he has never ever been a real copper, something he has so desperately wanted to be but didnt have the stones to attain.

Easy there, sparky. When you bring it in for G&O and they down it for brakes, check engine light, whatever, that's not being beat on.
I always try to get as many to G&O daily as they want, so they can down them all! Then my partner and I get to shuttle them back and forth all day, just like the porter at a dealership; except at at least 6 times the pay. This is a management problem, not a PO problem.
So, who cares? No CR#s sitting in the station waiting for your hooptie. Pay is the same, whether surfing the 'hood or surfing the net.

Actually down town Ernie B the truth was that in the course of chasing a crack head from 2710 W Ogden she shot herself in the leg. The contact burn from the weapon which was determined to be only if she was holding the weapon, and of course the story they had to manufacture since her partner blew the crack heads foot off on California. It's fine and dandy to help each other out but don't come here telling half truths. If you want the truth ask the dicks that did the investigation.

At least that goof cares, more than I can say about a lot of people on afternoons in 22. Lot of children of PO's on that watch who think they are special, and they aren't worth sh$#.
I was always under the impression that Beat and Rapid Response Cars are to be assigned vehicles and all Non-Essential Personnel left to find cars. In our Dist our Parking Enforcement,Supervisors,Traffice Enforcement and Foot Men take all the vehicles. By the time the Response Cars hit the street they have to find cageless, computer less Sgts cars. Then the Sgts yell at you for being down for an hour doing a case report in the station with only 4 working computers.
Tac teams bring in nothing but pissers and drinkers and the occasional "respond to a call" Arrest. Remember when is the lowest form of conversation but remember when you actually worked for a good pinch?
Listen, I have a good friend who is a boss in one of the garages, the reason we don't have any pool cars is simple, they didn't buy crs for a lot of years, then bought the Tahoos, they sank roughly 40-50 grand into these Crown Vics over the years in repairs, then they decided it was not a good idea anymore, so they junked a whole bunch of cars in anticipation of getting these new ford Incerceptors, well they are behind the 8 ball on the new car issue. These guys thatork on these cars work hard, they can only fix what you or someone else write it up for unless inspection shows another issue. And no I am not some suck ass boss, just merely a guy who likes to let the nay sayers know the truth. As always stay safe and go home to your loved ones.

As you are a GO man John you know my primary function as a beat car is patrol. I do not have to produce movers, parker's, contact cards, school absentee's or any other BS event #'s you think I might have to do. I get the bare minimum for VRI and then I shut it down for the entire month. Look at the numbers when King Richie was there and you see a difference in activity. Even though he was a ball buster he would play ball with you and throw you a bone and not the back stabber you are. So in fact John the problem isnt the officers its your management style. You micro manage the Sgt's so that they cant even give a PO a few on the end. Well we are know dummies and US bid PO's have shut it down and will not do a thing because we all know that YOU cant do a thing to US! What you going to change my start time? Hahahah bring it LT!

You're wrong on all counts John. Showing up, and wearing that uniform out the door, and answering calls makes everyone equal. Somebody might bring you 10 contact cards but be shit at talking to people on calls, escalating them into dangerous situations.
You don't sign the paychecks. You cannot measure effectiveness or finesse. You can only measure people based on bullshit cards and tickets.
Get real. Doling out more or less is not your job. Treating people like shit will get you nowhere. It's not too late to turn things around.
It seems you lost your self-respect after your letter, more of a company man than ever. I respected you when you wrote that letter. Now I think you've lost your mind.
As a detective, I love working in districts where the troops are unhappy. I'm not happy they're unhappy, I'm just glad they're not making felony arrests....because that gives me a little space to take a leisurely dump or take a piss more than once a tour.
To all the unhappy troops, it seems those bosses get off on making you miserable. Don't let them enjoy your misery. Act like you could not care less--it'll drive them nuts.
And for anybody who thinks dicks take 3 hour lunches, work 4 hour days, or run errands all day, I've been a dick over 10 years, and I've NEVER been in a place where I could do that. To the poster that said do something or shut the F up. I have no qualms meeting JA in the parking lot and settling things the old way. 20 years ago cops would meet each other after work and that would be over. Now you have cry babies getting cr numbers, lawsuits ect.
