Zero Homicides?

  • While Chicagoans saw the city's homicides rise past 500 last year, residents of the state's second largest city, Aurora, quietly observed a milestone of their own — a year without a slaying.

The slaying-free year was Aurora's first in recent times, police Sgt. Matt Thomas said.

Aurora, a city of about 200,000 on the Fox River west of Chicago, notched 25 homicides in 2002, but totals have dropped recently, according to FBI statistics. There were five in 2009, four in 2010 and two in 2011, according to the FBI.
In the entire article, there isn't one single mention of "CompStat."

That has to be a clue.

Probably because they take the victim to a hospital outside their town. Just so they can say he didn't die there.

Seems like someone does not like Comstat or even the idea of holding commanders accountable for crime in their districts. I say, nothing wrong with this. It is a good tool as the very least. I can recall decades where NO exempt was ever held accountable for management of their areas/districts. Stop worrying about the gang bangers killing each other. Start worry that they are killing our City.

Downtown was dead on New Year's Eve. Michicagn Avenue, empty BEFORE Christmas. Some enterprising young reporter could certainly make a name for himself by doing a little legwork here.

Maybe they were dropping off their victims in Chicago.

Or just burying them in cornfields, or riverbanks.

Since the victims usually don't have life insurance their families keep collecting their government checks.

Or maybe, the Police there have a different way of reporting--- if they do McCompstat wants that program.

Will E85 save me money?

At its current price per gallon, E85 doesn't save you money, and it might cost you more. E85 produces 27 percent less energy per gallon than gasoline, so on average it ends up costing more.

For example, the flex-fuel 2010 Chevrolet Impala equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine gets an EPA-estimated 18/29 mpg (city/highway) on gasoline and 14/21 mpg when burning E85. The acceleration is pretty much the same, but the car's range is shortened. In other words, you'll be filling the tank more often when using E85.

Do the math and you'll discover that E85 must be priced roughly 28 percent less than gas just to break even. For example, if gasoline is $3 per gallon, E85 would have to be priced below $2.16 per gallon. There are regions in the Corn Belt where E85 reaches this threshold, making it cost effective.

How about addressing what happened out here in 003 yesterday? No, it wasn't on the news because we can't have the Sheeple reminded of just how insecure some of our facilities are and how determined some of the savages are that we deal with daily.

Brief synopsis: dude walks into the desk at 0900 hours, sucker punches an officer and then tries to disarm him. Other officers subdue the asshole, but not before two are injured (loose teeth, busted lip, possible broken thumb, etc.). Our illustrious CCSOA tried to decline the upgrade based on asshole being on "psych meds". The Inner Party WANTS criminals to have guns.

If they could figure a way to disarm the police while keeping their organic tomatoes safe, believe me, they would do it.

Every once in a while, a homegrown, coddled Laurie Wasserman Dann or Adam Lanza pops up in Our Guaranteed Safe Bedroom to spoil the mix, but in other parts of town you can kill all day and all night and the great humanitarians won't even blink.

F--ers are making a great show of being all squeamish about having police guard the CT school the Sandy Hook kids are going back to now.

Like one of these posted here recently, they have a love/hate relationship with police but will condescend to keep that smelly nasty ol' dog around "for safety."

Sort of. Or something. Whatever.

In the 80's and 90's we had a fully staffed police dept. and we averaged 700 to 950 murders a year, Thats my guess and we also didnt have cameras, cell phones , excessive lawsuits the the CPD hands weren't tied and there were still almost 1,000 murders one year
So much for staffing, but the commanders office and front offices will be fully staffed

I had an E85 car 4 years ago. It got lower mileage, but the advantage was cheaper gas prices and the State had a rebate program. You had to purchase so much E85 in a year and then apply for the rebate. We got 300.00 a year if you bought the minimum gallons of E85. The rebate was barely publicized, not sure if the State is still doing rebates. Program was on IL EPA website.

Good for Aurora. The entire department deserves some credit for their efforts, whatever they are. But some luck is involved too. I want to see the rest of their crime stats-are they "killing crime?" Or are they just that good?

"..."You see that little light in the corner of your eye? That’s you political career dissipation light" (stolen from another film)

1/02/2013 01:42:00 PM

That film was BACKDRAFT, good movie, Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Robert De Niro. 1991

It received three Academy Award nominations including Best Special Effects which caused a controversy. It was beat out by the movie TERMINATOR. Question, should there be a separate category for effects made before the camera as in BACKDRAFT, and those done on what was then new post production technology as in the TERMINATOR.

Chicago has a thriving movie business back then thanks to Jane Byrne and it employed a lot of people and a lot small business. We never could get a proper anchor studio here because Richie Daley said unlike a casino, there might be "mob money" involved.

Richie then imposed a 6 1/2% tax on rental equipment and the movie business collapsed and moved mostly to Canada. Richie expressed outrage when the movie CHICAGO primiered and he found out it was made in Toronto. No one here wanted to tell him of course you idiot you killed the industry here. We now a studio facility being built here at the old Ryerson Steel works. It is being built by a 25 year old company CineSpace, from Toronto Canada.

Some movies are still doing some shooting here, but it is not the same. They do not hire the people here, like police officers, actors and technicians like they used to.

Screw that crook Richie and all he represents.

John Cullerton has to have some skeleton in he background which can get him canned from politics if not jailed.

He, like any other Democrat is a hypocrite and must have something that can be found out and when exposed get him to resign in disgrace or get him indicted for some criminal conduct.

The same thing is certainly true of Rahm, McCarthy or anyone else who threatens the peace, safety and welfare of the people who work for the City of Chicago.

Stop worrying about the gang bangers killing each other. Start worry that they are killing our City.

Downtown was dead on New Year's Eve. Michicagn Avenue, empty BEFORE Christmas. Some enterprising young reporter could certainly make a name for himself by doing a little legwork here.

1/02/2013 10:02:00 AM

-----------------------------------

Are you crazy?

We ARE going to worry about the gang bangers shooting each other!

Look, we had 2,600 shootings in 2012. Each trip that these mutts take to the ER as a results is pushing up ALL of our health care cost FOR EVERYONE!.

Just because it's not happening on our block doesn't mean that we are not paying the price for it. It's also going to come out of our medicare and result in increased insurance co-pays.

Follow the money. $52,000 per ER visit on average. Ya think the mutts are paying for it? NOPE. It's all of us as the corporations get their tax breaks to avoid their contribution.

Meanwhile the alderman and the mayor wave on in the illegal immigrants bringing their contraband with them that drives the violence.

We should be looking at tighter immigration standards not illusionary assault weapon bans/controls as a solution.

We should be looking at ways to bring the kids back into society and the political apparatus is failing big time.

Memo to McStickMyNoseInTheFeds'BusinessRegardingTheirFacilitySecurity:

How about addressing what happened out here in 003 yesterday? No, it wasn't on the news because we can't have the Sheeple reminded of just how insecure some of our facilities are and how determined some of the savages are that we deal with daily.

Brief synopsis: dude walks into the desk at 0900 hours, sucker punches an officer and then tries to disarm him. Other officers subdue the asshole, but not before two are injured (loose teeth, busted lip, possible broken thumb, etc.). Our illustrious CCSOA tried to decline the upgrade based on asshole being on "psych meds". We quickly pointed out that dude did the same thing at 004s desk in October 2008 and promise to override if necessary. (Reference CB #18568012 for yesterday's incident, CB # 17385628 for the '08 incident). Dude is charged accordingly...although he should have been put down like the dog that he is.

Also, Garry....the asshole that died after setting fire to and killing those kids and Baby Mama in 010 WAS THE SAME MOTHERFUCKER THAT WALKED INTO 011's DESK AWHILE BACK WITH AN ASSAULT RIFLE. Remember that one, Stupidintendent???

My point: YOU Garry, as the Puppethead of the CPD, need to address these incidents instead of worrying about the Feebs missing a prisoner.

Run this shit past your Puppetmaster even though we all know he won't do a fucking thing to address a remedy. After all, he's got a $55 million "tribute" to start building. And bike lanes to plot. And kayak stations to install. And "violence interrupters" to keep on the payroll.

At least when a copper is eventually killed because of non-existent safety measures in and around the stations, we can say we tried to bring the issue to the forefront.

1/02/2013 04:20:00 PM

Wow. Just wow.
But you know it's much more important for McMediaSuckUp to shyly dip his head and take credit for somebody else's gun arrest.

1/02/2013 06:55:00 PM

-------------------------------

How about those mental health clinics Rahm closed. Yeah that's saving us a lot of money isn't it?

He thinks he can get away with it and be a hero however all it takes is one of these mentally unstable people to flip out and we just may end up with something worse that the CT shootings.

There was more than one call on NYE about someone going to do themselves in and take as many people as they could with them. Not sure if they were valid -- those that rolled on them would know.

What do these mass murders all have in common? Mental issues. Suicidal and/or depressed and instead of making mental health more accessible Rahm shut down the clinics most likely because they represent services to a small demographic that could not hurt politically....until all hell breaks loose and people put two and two together that is.

Let's see him go south of I-80 with his gun snatching legislation...

Just because the majority in the Chicago metro area have surrendered the ability to think for themselves & the desire to defend themselves from rampaging nanny-stateism and the vicious insects pushing it, doesn't mean the other 3/4 of Illinois will follow suit.

Want to solve the MURDER problem in Chicago and in COOK COUNTY for that matter??? Simple replace all the judges in COOK County with DUPAGE COUNTY judges. Your Homicides will diminish 50% in the 1st year. Why you ask? Because the DUPAGE COUNTY JUDGES treat criminals like criminals in that, they recognize a violent offender and give them a bond that they will never be able to post. Thus protecting the law abiding citizens from the criminal savages. No Comstat. No hocus pocus. Just enforcement of the law. Something Democratic judges, Toni Fairywinkle and Tom pop Tart know nothing about. The 3 entities mentioned above do not want to hold their voters responsible for their action. If your a Democrat its a no fault world and nobody is held accountable.

Hey! SCC!
You'll love this one...

Peep the scum-times on-line about that asshole Beller who walked into 011 with a rifle...

The same asshole who set the house on fire killing his baby-momma, the four year old daughter and hospitalizing the 9 month old son?

THIS ASSHOLE PULLED THE SAME SHIT IN CICERO THREE MONTHS AGO!

The papers AND ccsao are already spinning this to be a "Police Failure" to protect but the baby-momma apparently didn't/wouldn't sign complaints.

These dirty fucks are running away from this awful mess after leaving it on the door steps of The Police.

This was a through and through fuck-up by CCSAO. Once they're involved/notified/apprised of what's happening, the onus to protect this woman (who apparently didn't want it) and her children, fell on THEM.

This loon filled a bathtub full of gasoline and was barracaded in the house with the kids until Cicero P.D. sweet-talked him into releasing them. One of the kids was wearing socks soaked through with gas...

*Child standing in a tub of gasoline*

(Just reading that shit fucked us up with some unpleasant memories of seeing people burning alive, screaming and shaking the burglar gates of too many west-side fire traps)

Beller was released after a psych evaluation and the rest is history as we know it.

Cicero P.D. seems to have done everything they were supposed to.

It must be nice to have immunity from being prosecuted for an awful up-fucking like this one.

P.S.

We were able to glimpse the article before they threw the pay-wall up so this is the best of our recollection...

They who hijack & steer the narrative get to set the agenda...

A nod & two taps on the westside doorbell to WSIDN for remembering to connect the dots on this loon.

Seems like someone does not like Comstat or even the idea of holding commanders accountable for crime in their districts. I say, nothing wrong with this. It is a good tool as the very least. I can recall decades where NO exempt was ever held accountable for management of their areas/districts. They were no heavy that they could do what they wanted to do, even fail miserably ( which a lot of them did) and nothing would happen. I say this is progress. But, the McCarthy haters will always think of something to bash the guy for.

1/02/2013 06:46:00 PM

If there was a station security officer at the point the offender walked in, the offender would have sucker punched the officer in the nose instead of the desk officer. What would that have accomplished Either way you would have had an injured officer

Brother, while I honestly hope it works out for you, most lawyers won't take this type of case without 'up-front' money.
Juries are wishy-washy and most tend to rule against the po-lice.
Lastly, most of these beefers don't have squat, so you can't get blood from a turnip.
Good Luck. Please report back if successful. I love stories with happy endings.
In the interim, Stay Safe.

As an attorney I can tell you that this guy is absolutely wrong. Does it help to have those things? Absolutely. However you can you can recover for your emotional stress this false complaint caused you because you. The cause of action is Intentional infliction of emotional distress. The tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress has four elements: (1) the defendant must act intentionally or recklessly; (2) the defendant's conduct must be extreme and outrageous; and (3) the conduct must be the cause (4) of severe emotional distress. Hyatt, 943 S.W.2d at 297. Although case law does not provide us with a precise definition of "extreme and outrageous," the test adopted by Missouri courts for actionable conduct is that the conduct must be "so outrageous in character, and so extreme in degree, as to go beyond all possible bounds of decency, and to be regarded as atrocious, and utterly intolerable in a civilized community." Restatement (Second) of Torts section 46 cmt. d (1965).

This certainly seems to be true and it does give doubt to an independence that the superintendent claims to have. However, in some cases, it may be a fact that if a person is not good in one job they could be good in another job and he is giving them a second chance.Niave as it sounds it could have some merit.

You don't have to show any kind of financial loss if you are hit with a bogus CR number. For the tort of slander, all you have to do is prove that the false allegation might have been believed by someone like your superior officer.

Since the CR was investigated, that is proof in and of itself that the allegation could have been believed.

One of the few things I got out of law school before I wised up and quit.
